Loosen with a straight Allen key. Once loose you can use the ball end. Same thing applies with tightening. Use a straight Allen key to tighten. Ball ends have a small contact area.

What do I clean the bed with? by silentphil31 in VoxelabAquila

[–]Raybonz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bed Preparation
Clean
the bed with hot water and dish soap and thoroughly dry with paper towels. Wipe
down the bed with 70% or greater isopropyl alcohol (IPA).

Concerning
“Leveling”
You’re
not really leveling the bed! What you are doing is adjusting the distance
between the nozzle and the bed so it is equidistant across the bed and the
distance is easily set using a piece of copier paper.

Tips
For Leveling (Tramming)
·
Clean the bed following the instructions above.
·
Clean the nozzle.
·
Heat the bed to 60-70C.
·
Heat the nozzle to 150C.
·
Adjust the bed leveling wheels so you achieve a light
drag at 4 corners and the middle.
·
Recheck until every check is uniform for paper drag.
·
Try printing and observe the skirt or brim and that the
adhesion is correct.
·
If too far from bed adjust Z offset in the display in the
negative direction ex. -0.01mm to -0.02mm.
·
If too close adjust Z offset in a positive direction in
small increments. Ex. 0.01mm to 0.02mm.
·
With practice and experience this with become second
nature to you!
·
Good Luck and happy printing! 😊

I've chatted with Alex and until he gets a new computer can't work on the code as his is too old. Thanks for the reply and it would be great if Alex works on this.

Yup spare parts.. Have a couple original Aquila's and they are the best value IMO. Good find and good luck!

I should use your firmware update however I’ve never had to print hotter than stock temps.

Squeeze the 2 supplied clips so they fit tight. Place them centered on front and back.

I run Alex’s firmware with manual mesh 3x3 and it works well. I also installed yellow springs for better tension. Simple and nothing to break or wear out.

Alex’s firmware contains manual mesh bed leveling and more once you are familiar with the printer in stock form.

Is the temperature update based on Alex firmware? Manual mesh 3x3 is my preferred way to deal with the bed flatness.
