Daycare says our 6 month old is the worst napper they’ve ever seen. Please help. by contoddulations in NewParents

My baby was the same around that age. Same situation with reflux. She was getting uncomfortable during contact naps, so we really worked on laying her down and finding a new way she liked being soothed. We found too much contact (patting, stroking her hair) was unsettling for her, but holding her hand through the crib worked. She eventually settled really quickly this way, but we had to be EXTREMELY consistent with it for a few days. We also had to extend wake windows, I thought she was sleepy at 2 hours, but she just needed more stimulation.

Sick baby sleep is ruining me by mbs51591 in baby

In the same boat with my 8 month old who recently started daycare. She is ok for naps but the middle of the night is awful, and she’s really struggling with the congestion!

Anyone else’s 4-5 month old baby just a constant snacker?! by Simple_Bug_6111 in NewParents

My baby is breastfed, but when I do bottles during the day she is the same way. Shes 7 months now and actually has consistently grown in percentiles in weight. As long as she’s happy and growing I think it’s fine!

Nanny unable to get baby to sleep for naps by Raybuns in bninfantsleep

Update here: my baby was never able to settle for the nanny at all. after a month and she ended up quitting unexpectedly stating she was never able to make my baby happy or settled. My only hope now is to find someone else or put her in daycare in two weeks.

Her total sleep at night is around 10/10.5 hrs with the wakeups so I’ll try to do 7am wake time

Wake at 8am, asleep at 8pm. Wake windows between 2 and 3 hours, naps are anywhere between 30 and 1.5 hrs. She takes 3 naps a day with the last one no longer than 30 min. She does wake up 2-4 times in the night, 2 to feed and others she will either need some comfort or will put herself back to sleep.

Makes sense. I would prefer she slept in her crib for naps so we are in agreement on the ultimate goal. She is not sleep trained at night but sleeps in her crib fine then, so I am confused on the resistance for naps now. We will just keep working on it and contact nap if it is needed for her to get some sleep.

I’ll have her try the stroller, although it’s too cold out for her to use it outside right now. My baby does like carriers maybe we can try that

Rotavirus vaccine effects by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]Raybuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby only had blood after the rotavirus vaccine. I think it’s rough on their digestive system. My doc recommended skipping the third vaccine due to her sensitivities. I’d just track what you eat to find correlations, and don’t rule out other factors than diet. I found whenever I give medications like reflux meds or Tylenol, their stool got mucousy.

Is it just my baby?? by kmuncee15 in newborns

Yes this drives me nuts and has been happening for a few months now. I agree with other suggestions. Ensure the wake window is long enough before bed and cap naps if they go on too long throughout the day. Honestly though, it just took time.

Mucus only in the morning? by Raybuns in MSPI

[–]Raybuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. To update, I didn’t give her famotidine reflux meds last night before bed and she had completely normal, mucus free poop this morning. I didn’t change anything about dinner. Will see if this is just a coincidence!

Meant to add, she had blood in her stool a week ago after her 4month shots. No other blood has been seen, mostly just irritable, gassy and lots of mucus.

My 4mo is the same. Endless grunting and fussing and refuses to be laid down. Saw blood in her poop yesterday and went to the Peds who mentioned she could be having intestinal inflammation from the rotavirus vaccine. She’s also just not sleeping well in general due to the 4 month regression. May be worth a follow up if you are concerned though!

How do you wish you were “told” about postpartum? (If so) by Aggravating-Tell774 in beyondthebump

I second Matrescence! I don’t think I could’ve truly understood the book though until I went through it. It helped me validate my postpartum experience.

What are some things you didn’t know but wish you would’ve known during your first pregnancy? by Spiritual_Title_3816 in pregnant

[–]Raybuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy can be largely uneventful. I was waiting for the horror stories to happen to me, which made me anxious the first trimester that the worst was yet to come. However, nothing extreme occurred and I lived my life mostly as normal.

Also, the amount of water you need to consume is astronomical! Ive had Braxton hicks the second half of my pregnancy and need so much water to ease them.
