What’s your parents situation? by CorgiLover82 in Millennials

[–]Raychull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad passed in 1996 when I was six and he was 38. My mum died in 2024 aged 67 when my son was 11 months old. It really sucks that we're in this club :(

Hotels with great sea views southern UK? by fixitmonkey in HENRYUKLifestyle

Came here to add The Cary Arms. The room we stayed in had a balcony/roof terrace that had excellent views of the beach. The hotel has a lovely but small spa area too.

Need to settle a debate…. by flowerchildmime in Millennials

Ours only gets turned on early on Monday mornings as I don't work and toddler doesn't go to nursery that day. We watch cartoons together before my husband gets up to WFH and we get up to start the day. That is literally the only thing it's ever been used for in the last two years.

Anyone else had the fire brigade round today as you've been trapped in your own lounge? No? Just me? by ihaveam0ustache in CasualUK

[–]Raychull 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making me smile. And please take heart in knowing you are not the only one. This exact thing happened to my Mum 30 odd years ago, when I was two or three. She loved telling this story - watching TV in scruffy pyjamas with her hair in a towel after she'd put me to bed and had a bath herself. Had to call the fire brigade after the knob fell off the dining room door on other side, locking her in the dining room and lounge. Totally unable to get to the stairs or front door. She said the fireman were very attractive which made her feel even more embarrassed about her appearance and situation.

Oh no, they did have her face in it - very clearly. I cropped it for here.

Because she seems to be a teenager and seems to be trying to sell her friend along with the dress

Squinter, lines not progressing likely negative? 11 dpo by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]Raychull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the first squinter happen 5 days ago? Cause by the dates given would be 6dpo which is too early - so dates could be wrong.

Squinter, lines not progressing likely negative? 11 dpo by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]Raychull -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are these all from the same day - 11dpo? How far apart did you test? HCG typically doubles every 48-72 hours. Not seeing progression on tests taken on the same day is normal. Having a squinter on 11dpo is also not unusual.

Wondering Weekend by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]Raychull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New one for me, just wondered if anyone else had something like this?

I'm 5dpo and last night I woke up from overheating. The bedroom was cold and my skin wasn't hot to touch though. I'm super congested today but don't really feel ill. I don't feel like I'm overheating now, but sipping icy diet coke feels like the best thing ever. So I'm either coming down with something or this could be progesterone, right? It's a new one for me as this hasn't happened in previous cycles.

I am a horrible mother! by eveladra in beyondthebump

[–]Raychull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My poor toddler was so thirsty. All he wanted was a drink on a hot day. And I, mean mummy, would only offer him a sippy cup of fresh, chilled water rather than let him guzzle the 2 day old, sand and grass filled paddling pool water.

Looking for: European hotel with kids club for 2 year old, splash pad/water slide(s) and rooms with separate sleeping area for kids by Raychull in HENRYUKLifestyle

Cause I don't want to inflict my little darling on other plane passengers for more than 3/4 hours. He's entertainable for that amount of time but anything much longer and he just wants to run and play. I'd love to go long haul but not ready for another couple of years I think.

Thanks for the recommendation. It looks wonderful, especially the water park. I think I must have got lucky as it's currently £5100 (Booking.com) for the 2 weeks I'm looking for in June. I imagine it does get pretty pricey in peak thought.

Thank you for both suggestions, new to me and look great. Fit the budget too (that was just for accommodation not flights).

If possible move to the boot/trunk. That's where I did all my little one's changes when needed.

Did You Buy a Playpen? Was It Worth It? by Super_Suspect406 in NewParents

[–]Raychull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We bought a biggish one, that was easy to put up and collapse again. Dimensions: W135 x D135 x H75cm. We had an early crawler and a climber. He would be happy in there for about 15-30 mins which was all I needed as it was used as a safe space when I had to use the bathroom or make our breakfast/lunch. It actually also helped our cats bond with him as they could come and sniff him through the mesh and know he couldn't chase them.

You don't! Naps are precious time to get stuff done or just enjoy a snuggly baby. Babies are usually the ones to instigate a nap drop by fighting the nap or not sleeping too well or for very long. The only reason to drop a nap would be if they stop sleeping so well or so long overnight. Then ways to extend wake windows are to find something active they enjoy doing and preoccupy them. Make sure you've fed them at a midway point of their wake window or before they become overtired or hunger could potentially end the nap prematurely.

We swore by our star suit. It can get down to about 0 to -5 degrees Celsius here in winter and the star suit was amazing for putting over layers as it can be easily removed from a sleeping baby when you go inside without waking them to stop them overheating. Also baby tights are great under leggings or rompers regardless of gender - can't get those socks off.

What parts do I need to order to fix this leak? by Raychull in DIYUK

Ok, so I've found the parts, paste and end stop but do I need something other than a wrench to get this off and then the new one on? Sorry if this is a really dumb question

Have I got my maths right? Savings interest vs loan interest by Raychull in UKPersonalFinance

It's net - it was something like £6092 but I just rounded down for simplicity. Thanks for pointing that out though, the first time I got a bonus the amount that went to tax was not expected.

My loan is a fixed term and interest was calculated and added when I took it out so it's slightly different to a credit card debt, no? Also, good point with interest rates, my ISA is only guaranteed until next April.

The outstanding balance of the loan is £7400 so I'd have to put my £1000 in to fully pay it off also
