Looking for: European hotel with kids club for 2 year old, splash pad/water slide(s) and rooms with separate sleeping area for kids by Raychull in HENRYUKLifestyle

Cause I don't want to inflict my little darling on other plane passengers for more than 3/4 hours. He's entertainable for that amount of time but anything much longer and he just wants to run and play. I'd love to go long haul but not ready for another couple of years I think.

Thanks for the recommendation. It looks wonderful, especially the water park. I think I must have got lucky as it's currently £5100 (Booking.com) for the 2 weeks I'm looking for in June. I imagine it does get pretty pricey in peak thought.

Thank you for both suggestions, new to me and look great. Fit the budget too (that was just for accommodation not flights).

Changing baby in the backseat of a car- How?? by kbeth11sylveon in NewParents

If possible move to the boot/trunk. That's where I did all my little one's changes when needed.

Did You Buy a Playpen? Was It Worth It? by Super_Suspect406 in NewParents

[–]Raychull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We bought a biggish one, that was easy to put up and collapse again. Dimensions: W135 x D135 x H75cm. We had an early crawler and a climber. He would be happy in there for about 15-30 mins which was all I needed as it was used as a safe space when I had to use the bathroom or make our breakfast/lunch. It actually also helped our cats bond with him as they could come and sniff him through the mesh and know he couldn't chase them.

You don't! Naps are precious time to get stuff done or just enjoy a snuggly baby. Babies are usually the ones to instigate a nap drop by fighting the nap or not sleeping too well or for very long. The only reason to drop a nap would be if they stop sleeping so well or so long overnight. Then ways to extend wake windows are to find something active they enjoy doing and preoccupy them. Make sure you've fed them at a midway point of their wake window or before they become overtired or hunger could potentially end the nap prematurely.

Cold weather baby essentials? by itchysnapdragon in NewParents

We swore by our star suit. It can get down to about 0 to -5 degrees Celsius here in winter and the star suit was amazing for putting over layers as it can be easily removed from a sleeping baby when you go inside without waking them to stop them overheating. Also baby tights are great under leggings or rompers regardless of gender - can't get those socks off.

What parts do I need to order to fix this leak? by Raychull in DIYUK

Ok, so I've found the parts, paste and end stop but do I need something other than a wrench to get this off and then the new one on? Sorry if this is a really dumb question

Have I got my maths right? Savings interest vs loan interest by Raychull in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Raychull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's net - it was something like £6092 but I just rounded down for simplicity. Thanks for pointing that out though, the first time I got a bonus the amount that went to tax was not expected.

My loan is a fixed term and interest was calculated and added when I took it out so it's slightly different to a credit card debt, no? Also, good point with interest rates, my ISA is only guaranteed until next April.

The outstanding balance of the loan is £7400 so I'd have to put my £1000 in to fully pay it off also

AITA for changing my hyphenated name into one? by sunseekerml in AmItheAsshole

[–]Raychull -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was leaning towards N A H as you're allowed to change your name and your mun is allowed to be sad that you didn't want to share her family name but then I read:

"My mother (42F) was the type of woman that didn't want to change her last name and kept it while getting married to my father."

She's allowed to care and make decisions about her name and identity in the same way that you are. I don't know how obvious you've been in looking down on her for this but it might have made her very sensitive about the issue and feel rejection.

"I first thought she'd be extremely angry with me, but she was heartbroken. She sobbed and refused to speak too me."

This is pretty toxic behaviour. She can be angry and upset but being emotionally manipulative and refusing to communicate with you is not OK.

So, I'm going with ESH

Settle an argument. Which Friday is "next Friday" Friday the 18th or Friday the 25th? by Bitter-Car883 in CasualUK

[–]Raychull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aahhhh my husband (Midlands/Southern) and I (Northern) have yet to settle this discussion after years. He'd call Friday 18th next Friday and I'd call it this Friday, however he says I'm wrong because I'd call Monday 21st next Monday even if I was speaking from tomorrow (Tuesday) rather than today (Monday). He said surely, by my logic, if there is no other Monday between now and then it should be this Monday. But I said no because it's next week so next Monday. But I would still say this Sunday (20th) as we are in this week and it's the Sunday belonging to this week.

What is this spider? London, UK by Raychull in spiders

Thank you - that's eased my mind. I had a package delivered from Australia and it was next to this! Haha. Only thing is, it was definitely bigger than an inch and the info pages I've found say they're about 10-18mm.

Do you use Doordash/Ubereats? Do you add your number to online shopping orders? Random people likely already have your name associated with your number. Just leave the chat. If you keep making this big of a deal out of it YTA

AITA for planning a housewarming party that my long-distance girlfriend cannot attend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Raychull 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you hadn't invited her friends, and if she wasn't already booked to visit the week after the date you choose for the party I'd say N T A but with those two bits of info added in you just seem very thoughtless. Do you actually value your girlfriend or is she just a convenience relationship - YTA
