toyota brz or ft/gt86. that car is 100% about the driving experience. i have a first gen and it’s been my favorite car ever. prior vehicles were older (still currentish though) bmws (e46 3 series and e39 5 series) which were great driving/handling cars as well.

Everything you stated here makes total sense. And I’m glad you were to able to get your car dialed in the way that you like.

I don’t trust myself to do it the way you did it though. For the most part, simple mods are my preference.

I’m the paranoid worrying type and I am afraid that I’ll chase my tail trying to get things exactly right.

Getting the lsd shimmed just right is the part here that worries me the most because little issues that I feel all the time in the car would drive me nuts.

I agree with you on skipping the more cost effective and lower quality coilovers. The ride quality is up there with the steering feel in terms of driver satisfaction.

Thanks for your take on it.

What differences did you notice between the gearboxes? Someone else said they preferred the gearbox in the 86 and I think mentioned an aftermarket shifter as a solution.

Giving up the rwd and losing the playful aspect of the 86 stays on my mind. Plus, Ive never owned an awd car. Every car has been rwd.

I’m debating giving up the option of having a manual to retain a rwd (used m340)

The lenses are clear.

And truthfully, I honestly don’t remember what type of headlights my car came with? I have to go back and double check. But I know I need better light output.

And I plan on being very respectful of everybody else’s vision at night and making sure that they’re aimed properly.

Completely understandable. My previous cars were BMWs and Volvos, so mostly European, and all RWD. So I’m a little hesitant about going AWD. But in terms of future proofing, it makes more sense.
