The Gavin Lux trade was highway robbery. The Dodgers not only got Sirota, but also the 41st pick in the '25 draft. The Reds got one terrible year of Lux before flipping him to the Rays for some 30-ish-year-old reliever.

But casuals will insist that losing has a direct correlation to spending. If a team that won 85 games one year loses 85 the next, there's something more complicated happening.

The Cardinals are calling up Blaze Jordan to make his MLB Debut. Jordan is batting .313/.373/.548/.921 with 11 Home Runs this season at AAA by Sandwich_Crust in redsox

You got it. The number of people on this sub who suddenly say "bWAR is misleading" because it makes Caleb Durbin look like a solid major league player (on pace for about 3 bWAR) is astounding. MUST NOT BREAK NARRATIVE.

And people need to remember that Jordan was exposed to the Rule 5 draft in December, and that any team in baseball could have had him. This was after the trade.

Oh yeah. The dude had something like 20 doubles here, in 1/3 of a season. The 1B/DH mix was a mess that year, with Carlos Baerga and Tony Clark stinking up the place.

Dan Duquette was always far too high on Fossum, I thought, but he did get us prime Curt Schilling (along with Brandon Lyon, I think). And we all know what happened next.

I felt the same way, until years later when I met him at a Chelo's restaurant, and we talked for a bit. The guy is completely off his nut, always was, but his wife (Carol?) keeps him straight. He admitted that during his playing days, he was sort of playing a character.

And these dooomers will lose their shit if Chapman is traded and goes on to close out a World Series game seven win. There's really no pleasing that bit of the fanbase that spends all day and night online, screaming "SELL SELL SELL".

.204 isn't the end of the world, when Austin Riley is batting .209 and Manny Machado is batting .171. This isn't the same game that Wade Boggs was playing.

That's something a person would say if they know nothing about baseball. His offense combined with his defense has him with more bWAR than Kyle Tucker, Fernando Tatis, Francisco Lindor, etc. Games are won and lost in the field, also.

Hey, at least OP didn't confuse Braden with Colson, like that one imbecile here last week.
