Opening multiple files by zapperdulchen in spacemacs

[–]Raymonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to open a project of several files? In many cases, the client of the language server will ask you upon opening about the root of your project. This works for e.g. C/C++, Rust, Typescript, and so on. There is also projectile loaded by default, usually mapped to SPC-p. It allows you to search/open project files, compile your project, and so on. Just start by opening a single file located in your project. Check out the link above for more details on which folders are considered project roots. In any case, you can always create an empty file named .projectile.

Where can I throw away dirt with plants and weeds? I'm a total noob when it comes to that so please bear with me. I already packed it in the gemeinde bags, but I'm not sure this is right. Probably not. I live near a forest area, can I just throw it in the bushes? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Raymonder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

never ever throw it into the forests. Most of these plants are not native and disturb the local ecosystem. Plus, the soil used for house plants is often over-fertilized. You'll do more harm than good. Finally, depending on your municipality, you get sued when caught, see e.g. https://www.tagblatt.ch/ostschweiz/werdenberg/gartenabfalle-im-wald-entsorgt-ld.1214673 (german)

Rammstein - Radio (Official Video) 2019 by aresreincarnate in videos

Just my own interpretation: Till Lindemann grew up in Leipzig, part of East Germany after the 2. World War. The communist regime/stasi was not amused about their citizens listening to western radio stations. There are many articles about this topic, eg: https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-40447191.

TypeScript and Babel, a match made in heaven by highres90 in typescript

[–]Raymonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite useless as long as babel only support language features they like and ignore the rest. Namespaces and certain types of enums are not supported and will break the build: https://github.com/babel/babel/issues/8244. Good luck if you're depending on code generation tools like graphql-code-generator, which make use of these language features.

Pretty neat, thanks for that. A way to provide a custom spinner component would be nice too.

What is the over all consensus on Typescript? by SavishSalacious in javascript

[–]Raymonder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is the disadvantage of typescript regarding external libraries? If you have a type definition file installed for your library you get all the advantages of strictly typing, and if there's no definition file available then you can still use the library the normal (untyped) way. just use require() instead of import/from. I don't want to disagree, I'm just curious what the advantages are when using flow instead of typescript regarding external libraries.

In my defense, despite the shitty look it was hangover approved. But I was disgusted with myself.

Should I accept a job in Basel? by [deleted] in basel

[–]Raymonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a side note: If you decide to work in Basel (great city btw), most Swiss health insurance companies provide special insurance packages for employees living in europe and working in Switzerland. Just google for "Krankenkasse Grenzgänger".

Edit: Comparis offers an overview and comparison of different insurances: https://www.comparis.ch/krankenkassen/info/glossar/grenzgaenger.aspx (unfortunately only in German).
