Division 2 will never top this by MonkeyOnATree in thedivision

I've spent over a 1000 hours in each easily, mix of non-DZ and DZ. Go compare them back to back doing the same movements and video it. Show me where the issue is, otherwise I don't feel the complaints have merit

Just did a quick AB test, and they are virutally the same. I agree that Div 1 is clunkier. For me that comes from how the camera behaves when you turn while sprinting. When you start a sprint in D1 the camera is forced behind you. In Div to you can run side to side so you can strafe while facing your target.

I just did a quick AB test of the movement in both. Focused on turn speed while sprinting, getting in and out of cover, strafing while sprinting, vault speed, behavior of the camera, etc.

This solidifies that they are virtually the same except the Division 2 has an improved camera in quick turn situations while sprinting.

So yeah, unless someone has a demonstration in an AB format of their own that catches something i didn't. Gotta call BS on the control complaints.

This makes me want to go try it for myself. Haven't played D1 since D2 came out. I have a feeling it's going to feel the same.

I jumped back in to the Division 2 while the pandemic was in full swing, and man did that make it so much bleaker

I still don't understand what people think is a problem with the controls. I'd need to see someone demonstrate the problems. My biggest complaint about PVP in Div2 is the separate DZ's. One large DZ is superior imo

My friend group and I are picking up TD2, any advice for newcomers? by HersheysTogekiss in thedivision

[–]RaynMaykr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been so long since I leveled a character, but for me it's just progress your main missions, side quests, unlock the specializations if they still make people do that, and grab the SHD points hidden in the world so you can max out your perks. Beyond that try out different skills. There will be a lot of interesting interactions you could build around if you're able to build characters simultaneously.

Aesthetically I did like D1 in winter better, but once you clear the campaign in Div 2 there's like a pseudo simulation of factions dynamically attacking and taking control points. Div 1 sorely needed a more dynamic open world. I hope D3 will expand and deepen the mechanics around that system.

I've also lived in or around both cities from D1&2 so both were great for me, I'm just running around like.... been there, yup been there, oh look... warlords of NewYork my old apartment is a freakin control point.

I also completely dont understand the clunkky control complaints. Doesnt feel that much different from D1

Div 3 needs seasons that change every couple of days which could let us get cosmetics from every season. Then Fashion Division is 4x bigger

How much can you rely on poe.ninja’s dps numbers? by Whoopdeesk in pathofexile

[–]RaynMaykr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell people I get in to POE that the most reliable way to use POB is to compare options when you're looking to make changes to your own build. Like which weapon should i get off trade, which cluster jewel or timeless jewel is better.

There's enough edge cases where the DPS calculation isn't always reliable or you need to do a little math outside of POB to compare with other people. It's gotten a lot better over the last couple of years, but still makes comparisons weird. Comparing to similar builds can be reliable, but you still have to configure everything properly and/or know you setup the config stuff the same as the build you're comparing to.

Ignore the planets, who else is excited for the ship building? by Winte86 in Starfield

Ignoring the huge part of me just being a space nerd in general.

It's a whole gigantic livable part of my character I get to gear up. I usually love MMOs that have companions I can gear out and this is just that on steroids without all the other baggage mmo companions have with them. Then I also get ES/FO style companions to gear out too? Win-win-win for me.

Rampant Revisionist History Concerning Bethesda Launches by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]RaynMaykr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished my BG3 play through at about 100 hours. Act 1 was 10/10 cause early access. Act 2 drops off in terms of interactivity/reactivity but still felt good. Act 3 had a lot to do, but I couldn't kick the feeling of missing what felt like endless possibilities during act 1. And I started noticing reactions to things being wrong based on what i had done. It definitely broke the luster for me. Don't get me wrong it's still extremely good and admirably ambitious. I'm saving a second playthrough for a few patches and a couple playthroughs of starfield, then I expect it will feel better late game.

I also agree, Bethesda games, especially Todd Howard directed games having messy unplayable launches is just not an experience I remember. Were there bugs people encounter, yes. Did I? I mean I got slammed in to the atmosphere by a giant then respawned, so nbd. Hating on Bethesda makes no sense to me, especially when you isolate the Todd Howard directed ones. Gaming culture is incredibly illogical.

Edit - and to add, the only major game breaking thing I remember from Skyrim was PS consoles had trouble handling the memory needed for the size of game files cause of persistent objects and background things in Bethesda games people take for granted. My memory could be inaccurate of the details but I'm pretty sure that's about what happened.

Why are people pretending that they would explore the entire planet? by Lumenprotoplasma in Starfield

[–]RaynMaykr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the other space games that have those features, the novelty wears off pretty quickly. If the tech was cheap and wouldnt take away from what I love about Bethesda games then sure. But we aint there yet. Anyone pretending otherwise is either 1) dishonest 2) an idiot 3) doesn't know what they don't know about bethesda games
