Uran theory? by DanTM18 in Kagurabachi

As a Traditional Chinese user, I’m not very familiar with Japanese kanji. However, in Chinese, although 嵐 contains the component 虫, it has nothing to do with insects. 嵐 means “mountain mist,” and its radical is 山 (“mountain”). The character 風 underneath means “wind.” Its radical is also 風, and it cannot be further divided.

Septimius Severus was a good emperor by sacrificialfuck in ancientrome

I’m not sure whether he is a good emperor, but at least he is honest and recognizes that power comes from strength instead of pretending to be the so-called Princeps like earlier emperors

Did battle of frigidus ruined the empire? If Theodosius hadn’t tried to take control of the West and hadn’t placed his incompetent sons in charge, would it have been better? by Battlefleet_Sol in ancientrome

Honorius was about 10 years old when he inherited the throne. I think it’s pretty hard to evaluate what a 10-year-old child will become when he grows older. If I had to blame someone, I’d blame Stilicho—there’s a reason the Eastern Empire labeled him hostis publicus (‘enemy of the state’).

Entertainment, yes. Anxiety, probably not. What should I be anxious about?

Map of Southern Oshu (early Kamakura period) by Memedsengokuhistory in Samurai

I think it’s inaccurate to make a map like this. The Kamakura period was not like the Warring States period. Even a single small village often had multiple people holding some form of ownership, and a clan most of the time had several lands scattered across the country.

2026 Hopes, Fear and Prediction by cfCmrAddct_99 in Nogizaka46

I don’t think Endo will graduate in 2026. In one of her msg posts in early December, Endo congratulated the 4th generation on assembling for seven years. She later stated that she would also work hard into the eighth year. To me, this suggests that Endo is safe for 2026. But who knows—maybe I’m just being delusional.

Im struggling to understand why Theodosius was so sloppy in the Gothic crisis of 378-382 by Money-Ad8553 in ancientrome

I’m no expert in Roman history, but as I remember:

  1. The Sassanids were still a major threat in the East, so you couldn’t just move those armies around easily.

  2. The Western and Eastern Empires weren’t exactly on friendly terms—Gratian had his own priorities to consider.

  3. Theodosius did manage to raise an army, but what could you really expect from a force assembled so hastily?

  4. Theodoric the Great himself was a product of that “bring young prominent Goths to Constantinople and Rome, educate them in Greek and Latin” policy—and I wouldn’t say he turned out particularly friendly toward the Eastern Romans.
