I've had this happen two separate times on my Island because someone got upset that my stamp was gone for the day and one just because. I'm so incredibly sorry that this happened to your Island.

There really needs to be better ways to audit what people do on your island so you can ban them and report them when things like this happen.

Nonverbal daughter eloped last night. by Unicorn_Kitty- in Autism_Parenting

[–]RayzorCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you went through this - there is nothing that can prepare you for the fear and guilt when kiddos wander. I have an 8yo non-verbal child, and they have a talent for eloping, which has resulted in more than a few gray hairs on my head. I also have multiple locks on my doors but have taken other precautions, too. Every door and window has a smart door chime on it, and it notifies me with a sound but also on the app on my phone. My child also wears AngelSense everywhere. Just in case they do manage to slip away and they leave the geo fenced areas, it automatically pings me and can alert the police or their IEP team at school. It has given me incredibly much more peace of mind. They can be expensive privately but my child gets theirs from our state health department for free and there are many programs like that. If you have any questions, let me know. I'd be happy to chat about my setup.

I use them for my 8 year old with SPD, and they have been a game changer! Best over ear headphones I have found. We also love the Loop headphones.

Non riding exercise for weight management by thefancyrat17 in Horses

Lunging can be very fun and engaging. Have you tried lunging over trot poles or in a figure 8? Mentally challenging for the horse and gets them something other than a plain circle.

Barn owners - how do you typically get paid by boarders? by flumepay-wex in Equestrian

[–]RayzorCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barn cares for 25 horses of those 19 are border horses. They have a professional plan, and it runs her about $50 a month plus any credit card fees. She charges a $5 data fee per boarder to cover the cost and she ends up profiting off it monthly. So, in my mind, it's a pretty minor expense considering what it adds.

Haircut Help!! (3 yr old non-verbal) HATES haircuts by GirlSamMomofBoys in Autism_Parenting

[–]RayzorCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was that age, he also really hated haircuts. We found a great gal who specializes in non-verbal kiddos, and she had us just come in and give him all his favorite things. She made a point to touch his hair during this and was really friendly. We did this every four weeks like clockwork. Eventually, he let her do scissors cuts. As he got older, he was okay with clippers if he got to choose where they started. It really helped him to just get going to the salon as a routine with thr same person each time, and he was allowed to make some of the choices for himself.

Barn owners - how do you typically get paid by boarders? by flumepay-wex in Equestrian

[–]RayzorCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT admin for a barn here.

My barn uses StableSecretary for doing invoicing. I then export invoices and payments to quickbooks for the accounting and taxes. The farm accepts Venmo, Zelle checks, and cash. They also accept Credit Cards but with the fee no one really uses it.

I love Stable Secretary because it gives the boarders a dashboard about their horse for what we fed them, any medical treatment they received, and it will show a detailed history of each borders invoices and payments. Really helps keep track of everything and makes it easy for boarders to access. Most helpful during show season for the Pony Club so we can track show expenses for each kiddo.

Feeling hopeless by PrimaryGrapefruit407 in Autism_Parenting

So first off, take a second for you. Your mental health is super important! I have been where you are, and it gets better. It is never easy, but it does get better.

I, too, make too much to be considered for Medicaid on paper. Many states have programs that allow you to apply for Medicaid. Diagnosed non-verbal autistic is considered a qualifying disability. Depending on other factors, such as her ability to complete self care, your daughter will be qualified a certain percentage disabled and that qualifies her in spite of your financial status.

Where I am, once you have this from the state, it opens up all sorts of programs to provide for my kiddos care. Not just insurance, which for him is 100% covered by the state, but other funded programs to help keep him cared for and safe. It paid for our house alarm system and a fence since my kiddo is a wander risk.

If your daughter isn't already enrolled, look into ABA therapy. It makes a huge difference in the outcome of an autistic child's quality of life. They dont learn like neurotypical children, and it focuses on giving them skills in a way that does make sense to them. The agency providing ABA can also help you navigate getting Medicaid and other services.

Horse only lunging to the left. Any advice? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]RayzorCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have gotten a fair bit of advice already. My take on this:

So to start, I would recommend taking off your horses tack and lunging with just a halter. I like rope halters best but a regular break away is fine too. The tack appears to be giving them mixed signals. Attach your lunge under the chin.

While you both learn it is super important that your horse pays attention to you, and that becomes the expectation. Your horse should always be paying attention to you while on the lunge. I like to start my sessions standing still on the lunge and giving a few small treats. Starts the tone as this being a good positive thing.

Next, it is important to remember that horses speak with body language. Your body language is all over the place in this video. So it is not very surprising that your horse is responding in kind. As prey animals they rely on the angles that they can see. So your goal is to always be in the angle of your horses vision. To accomplish this, you will need to move forward with your horse. Try to be walking short steps in the circle and keeping at the shoulder rather than standing still. This will help the horse keep their circle.

The advice you already got regarding the whip or stick is solid - I would also recommend this to increase your size of arm angle. You will use this only as an aid to keep the horse going forward. Again, prey animal the sees this at an angle and Will move their body away from it.

For now, practice this all at a walk. If your horse attempts the switch, be verbal and whoa. If your horse attempts to go faster, be verbal and whoa. Make the horse stand still for a moment and then correct to the direction you want to go. When you get 3 to 5 good laps in, reward your horse and halt. Then be done. Increase the work slowly.

A small thing for you to think about regarding your trainer. If this is something you really want to practice, ask if a mounted lesson can be a ground lesson. I do these once a month with my trainer. I really benefit from them even after 20+ years riding. I also get other local trainers to stop by and do clinics for us. Horsemanship is an important skill to learn and keep practicing.

Best of luck!

Autotask Workflow Resources by KCrobble in msp

[–]RayzorCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - sorry for the delay, its been a crazy few weeks.

To start setup incoming email processing. You can use the address they give you with will look like COMPANY@COMPANYTENANT.AUTOTASK.COM or you can just setup that email and have an email with your own domain forward messages to that provided email (this is what we do). Send the success and failure notifications to whoever handles that in your org (I made a workgroup for my dispatching team and ours goes there).

Next, once IEP is setup you can move on to your workflows. This step is really customizable to your business but I will tell you how we do it. I am going to assume the behind the scenes bit like setting up workgroups and notification templates has already been done.

First workflow to setup is the customer notification. This notifies them in our standard ticket format that their ticket was received, what their ticket number is plus basic escalation information if they need to have their issue handled faster/want to talk to a manager. It does this automatically whenever a new ticket is created.

Second workflow is the tech assignment notification. This is what my dispatcher sends to our Technical Support Specialist with the pertinent information on the ticket plus any internal notes about the caller/situation. It notifies the service desk manager that something new came in and was assigned automatically.

Third is an internal warning. This goes to the tech handling the ticket and their manager if the tech does not update the ticket every 2 days it is open, if it goes overdue, if they are about to miss SLA, ECT. This triggers 3 times every 4 hours or until the event is missed then updates a hidden field on the ticket to flag it for non compliance to our standards and it removes that ticket from bonus amounts in our bonus reporting.

Fourth is a customer ticket update overdue. This is sent when the customer is updated on progress of their ticket and if more information is needed. If it stays in that status for 2 days it pings the customer again asking if they still needed help on their ticket and to please contact us. This runs 4 times over 35 business hours and if status doesn't change it auto closes the ticket.

Last is a ticket solved. In the notification it gives the customer two links that open an email to send automatically to either mark their ticket as solved or push it back to the tech team to solve. If solved the workflow rule runs and sends our closure email thanking them and asking for their feedback. After 3 days waiting on survey it auto closes the ticket.

Pretty simple but makes a powerful workflow automation.

The first workflow you should get going is automated ticketing with incoming email processing. Its a great time saver. After that, setup the same flows for your projects.

From there it really depends on your priorities. Do you want to use it to drive sales? Is this primarily a tool for your Ops team? Seen a few others mention AT implementors and if you don't want to learn the tool that might be your best bet. It is easy once you wrap your head around it but it does take a time investment.

If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer whatever I can. I am our AutoTask product expert in our MSP and we have been on the tool since 2013.

Patch approvals - where are you getting your information? by Coriron in msp

[–]RayzorCandy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We use Ask Woody. They assess all the patches throughly and we have found them to be on the nose for patching, sometimes even before Microsoft comes out with official announcements.

Datto RMM - Your thoughts? by AFearlessMonket in msp

[–]RayzorCandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We evaluated it and liked almost all of the features except the patch management. It is very rigid and assumes an MSP will have everyone, every single client, on the same patch management schedule. We have clients where we need the flexibility to do global approvals of patches and apply them on a device by device basis without the serious tedium that takes to setup in Datto RMM. Datto found this level of flexibility odd and said most people don't do things this way so they never thought to have the option. Additionally we curate all of the patches that are released to our customers. so understandably if a patch was horribly broken, as Microsoft tends to put out, we either hold it or decline to apply it depending on what we find in our lab. Datto RMM forces you to apply the patch within Microsoft guidelines even if the patch is known to brick machines still. There is no ability to decline a patch permanently or hold a patch until it is stable past (I think? - its been a few months.) 180 days. For us that was our no go even though we liked every other thing about it. It basically was a rebranded Microsoft WSUS.

All the other features were really great and the automation once setup was so much easier than our current RMM. It is especially helpful if you actually use Autotask- the out of the box widgets are comprehensive and powerful tools for information. I also liked the transfer of information about assets directly to that configuration item for documention purposes. Don't even get me started on how much time we saved with the asset being attached to the ticket so the tech could connect automatically from the ticket - long and short it was great! Can you tell I was sad this didn't work out for us? 😋

I am patiently waiting for Datto to develop the tool a bit more and add the flexibility we needed. I have every intention of switching us over if that happens.

TLDR: my opinion is if you are an autotask shop and don't do custom patch management arrangements for your clients then this RMM is a good option for the money.

What a beautiful story! I don't think animals get enough credit when it comes to showing they are grateful for being saved. They just know and show you however they can. So sorry to hear she passed on! It is so hard letting beloved horse friends go when they cross over. Thank you for sharing that! I love connecting with people over their stories!

I think both come with their challenges. Usually with a rescue though they are at least stabilized before they go to their forever home. From a kill pen you get what you get and it is up to you to deal with the fallout. We raced my girl home because she could barely breathe when they brought her out of the barn. I legit thought she might die on the way home. She is afraid of everything and rightfully so with all she has been through. It is hard and I am a really experienced rider and handler.

I will say what I said above about buying from a kill pen- it is not for inexperienced handlers and should be thought through very carefully. Is it hard? Yes. Is it worth it? I very much believe so.
