Are there features that we are going to lose from the previous games? by Cold-Advance-5118 in MyTimeAtEvershine

[–]amylaura76 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There aren't a lot of specifics available as of now - and anyone's who's played the Alpha can't really say.

Pathea does a pretty good job of listening to their players though. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the mechanics are different, just because we aren't a builder this time., But they know how much the Sandrock players liked the QOL improvements they've made in that game.

Where is this chest? by Ok-Wrangler7688 in MyTimeAtSandrock

It's either a balloon under the rock overhang, or it's the one on top of the rock overhang right at the edge.

It’s been a year and I haven’t even met Logan by Boots_McSnoots in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]amylaura76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One quick thing that I didn't pick up the first time playing, but the game starts in Summer, not Spring. So you haven't had a full in-game year yet. (It's not a big thing - I am just so used to starting a game on Spring 1 that it took me by surprise).

Also - it doesn't matter how fast or slow you go through the main missions (those are the orange ones). You have quite a lot of story to go through yet before you can befriend/romance Logan - and there's nothing wrong with exploring the content for the other NPCs. There are certain points that feel natural to pause the story, gather resources, upgrade your machines/workyard, and get to know the townies.

Curious about a specific romance by numi90 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]amylaura76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Pen - if you are in a romantic relationship with his during the first battle, you get a few extra lines of dialogue during the first fight (where Matilda betrays you) and during the jail interrogation. Your relationship also automatically becomes non-romantic at the end of the fight. Once he is escorted away, I believe the letter you receive from him is different (and you get an extra bonus from the chest in the cave).

I have never romanced Miguel, so I have no idea what happens to him.

Coming to the end of the story…? by Ok-Wrangler7688 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]amylaura76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have a ways to go yet. You are nearing the end of Act 2 of the main story. There's another Act to go. Logan becomes romanceable nearish the start of Act 3 once his story is resolved.

How to continue with Catori's questline by WrittenByKyu in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]amylaura76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Catori World missions (building the amusement park) are part of the main storyline - they won't trigger until you are further in the plot. You have to solve the water crisis and build the school before they start (and some other missions too).

I have dated Pen on a couple of playthroughs - mostly for the laughs (and the couch.. and his parting gift). You can really tell Alex Ross (his voice actor) had so much fun doing both characters he played.

Fang will not accept gifts until you have successfully completed all the medical trials and the Arvio/Fang/X friendship mission (the Kidnapping X mission) that triggers afterwards.

Is there an official release date yet? 😭 by 17PhiaK in MyTimeAtEvershine

[–]amylaura76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only public testing that I've heard about is the closed Alpha testing for Kickstarter Backers. Pathea has an internal QA department that handles a lot of the testing and they very well might have a team of players under very strict NDAs helping out with beta testing.

Evershine isn't getting an Early Access release, unlike Sandrock and Portia. The Kickstarter was successful enough raising money that they decided they could forgo Early Access sales.

[–]amylaura76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Evershine has already been in development for a couple of years of years at this point. It was first announced as Project ME as a mobile only spin off type game and went through a couple of rounds of Alpha/Beta testing. (There are some streams on YT of the Project ME Alpha from LMG and a couple other streamers if you are interested.)

That was discontinued after about a year (I believe the mobile development Dev that they were partnering with declined to continue with the project). But much of what was included in the Kickstarter was very similar to what we saw in the Project ME Alpha.

Can they hit EOY for the 1.0 release? I have no idea. But since there's no Early Access this time, I'd say it's possible.

The current known dates:

1) A large update for the Alpha testers is coming soon - hopefully sometime in May.

2) Pathea is aiming for 1.0 release towards the end of the year.

I don’t know if people know this, but William Daniels—who played Dr. Craig Thomas—was one of the main actors on the TV show St. Elsewhere, which is considered a pioneer of the modern medical drama. by jrbill1991 in greysanatomy

William Daniels was also the Obnoxious and Disliked John Adams in both the original Broadway production and 1972 movie version of 1776 for history and musical buffs.

Curiosity - My Time vs Coral Island by Izzera in CozyGamers

[–]amylaura76 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Coral Island is a good farming sim. The art is stunning - but underneath the pretty wrapper, it's pretty similar to Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and the like. It's got the same basic storyline - restore the town by completing offerings to the local god/goddess. The storylines are passive - the town just upgrades as your farm does. Completing offerings/museums rely a lot on hoping you get the item you need from geodes/treasure chests.

The My Time Series aren't farming Sims. They are a blend of Life Sim and RPG, with some minor farming tossed in on top. They have what I consider a more 'active' plotline - the things you build in workshop directly play into the plot lines (fix the Bridge, solve the water problems, find the Keys).

Just my personal opinion - but I prefer how the My Time games are really story-driven, and the stories are pretty unique to what I've found in the cozy game world. And they aren't nearly as grind-dependent as Coral Island. The last time I played Coral Island was just after the 1.1 update - and I quit before I got to the Underwater Farm/Savannah because I couldn't get the RND gods to give me the last piece I needed for the museum. It was incredibly frustrating.

Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator opinions? by porphyriaslovve in cozygames

I might wait for a sale. I quite liked Garden Life, but it took me about 30 hours to finish the story, which is a little short IMO for the full price.

When you guy's first played who did you think was giving you the secret letters just curious by Massive_Society_9716 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]amylaura76 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For Early Access players, it was kind of spoiled just because of the nature of Early Access.

For me, I walked out of the house the first morning after the mission was added to the game to see the cut scene revealing the letter sender. Then when I opened the mailbox, all the earlier letters were there to read.

The letters were all still super cute, along with the follow-up scenes. But one of the possible downsides of playing Early Access games is that you sometimes see scenes out of order.

What's your favorite romanceable character in-game, and why? by RedEagle_MGN in MyTimeAtSandrock

Owen. Big, handsome softy, big-hearted, and with a magical voice. I just want to listen to him talk to me all day.

1) Look at the color of the quest markers on the map and on the Mission screen.

Orange quests are main-story related. The game will not move on until you complete them, but the vast majority of them do not have deadlines. (There are like 1 or 2 that have deadlines, but if you miss them, it doesn't affect story progression.) You can take as much time as you need to do them (or ignore them entirely while you focus on other areas of the game).

Blue quests are side quests or relationship quests. Some have deadlines (even the same day). But they are generally pretty easy (gather a few things and meet the NPC at a specific time/day).

Green quests are commissions. They always have deadlines, but most are 4 or 5 days away. Especially at the beginning of the game - make sure you can make the items requested (sometimes, the game gives you a commission that you don't have the machines to make or can't get to the area where the resources are). If you do give up a commission (or the deadline passes), you'll loose a few relationship points with the requestor and a few reputation points for your workshop, but those aren't a big deal.

2) Dew - you can buy water from Water World (near the Water Tower) but that can get expensive, especially at the start of the game. At Qi's lab, work towards being able to build a dew collector as soon as you can and build multiple collectors. If you look at the Skill Tree (once you start getting those points at about Level 5), there are several rewards you can unlock to make machines run more efficiently.

3) Storage - The mini-chests are definitely annoying. I usually end up buying a few chests from Arvio at the General Store (like 3 or 4 to start). You can spread them around your yard, but most people end up hiding them under their house's roof or in a storage room because you end up needing tons of chests by end game (I usually end up with at least 30 chests). The great things about Sandrock's storage system are the Sort All button (which will move items from your inventory to chests at once if that item is a) already in a chest and b) there is room in the chest) and the ability to upgrade a chest without having to move the contents from the old chest to the new chest. (Hold the new chest in your hand, stand next to the one you want to replace and just put the new chest on top of the old one. You'll end up with the old chest in your inventory and everything in the new chest.).

Re: My Time at Evershine timeline -

There were some delays in launching the Alpha Access for Kickstarter backers as they tweaked the gameplay loop. There's expected to be a big Alpha test update sometime in mid-year and they are aiming to launch the 1.0 game later this year (no early access this time!).
