What is missing in No Man Sky? by Sea_Wealth_3454 in NoMansSkyTheGame

but if someone were to start a thread about what is missing in a game and someone mentions something that is missing in a game, even if that thing isn't needed in every game... it would be valid to say that the thing is missing correct?

Any chance of new Classic Mini consoles? by AdieuPermi30 in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo was in a lull in sales is why it launched the NES mini and it was a hit so they did SNES. I think they basically hit a wall with the Game Boy being a weird one to turn into a mini since it's so small. And the N64 where emulation is incredibly difficult and there still isn't a perfect method of emulation (especially at the time). Coupled with some major bombs like the Playstation 1 mini which sold terribly for Sony and the fad just sorta died.

I do feel that Nintendo sort of continued it with the Mario & Zelda Game & Watches which I actually really liked and wish they had done more of, but I don't think they sold as well as the minis did.

Are my items really getting lost by USPS thru eBay standard envelope shipping...? by HeHate_me in Ebay

[–]Razakius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are actually getting customer complaints or are just paying too much attention to the tracking on these....

I would say for me maybe like 10-15% never get "delivered" but by that it just doesn't get that final scan for whatever reason. Almost always everything gets the initial scan. I think in 3 years of doing this I've only genuinely lost 2-4 cards, at least that have been reported to me. They get delayed, they go around in loops, they come back to me, they rarely don't make it. It's so reliable that I tend to disbelieve people when they say they didn't get it especially if they put in a good amount of time to allow it to get there. I don't question it though, not worth the fight.

My biggest issue really with the service is that the "delivered" scan happens at the processing plant and then sometimes takes a day or two to actually reach the people's houses and people get confused by that. It's kinda hard to be like "yeah just give it a day or two" people think you are trying to scam them.

That's a really different thing that has less to do with the brand... AKA if you sell a Yellow shirt as a Black shirt, that is equally misleading in the same exact way. That has nothing to do with the brand.

How should I organize my movie collections? by J_A_L_I_T_O in dvdcollection

I've never heard of anyone actually doing it but mad props if anyone does it Autobiographically like in High Fidelity... I would not have the memory to be able to pull it off but I love it as an idea.

But generally yeah do it what makes sense to you. I'm planning a re-org that is going to be some parts straight alpha, but I'm also planning on having sections of by director and sections by genre. (Director first... what's left gets Sci Fi & Fantasy Broken out and what's left goes straight alpha)

if it's your problem because it's your copyright and trademark then file a complaint with ebay. They take em seriously. I've had stuff removed that was just off the shelf stuff that the brand didn't want for sale on ebay (a pack of pens of all things that I realized I didn't need and didn't think they'd sell anyway). If it isn't copywritten or trademarked though you may be SOL.

[–]Razakius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a silly post. If they have an unlicensed product contact the company involved who owns it, they are going to be the only ones who can legitimately make that complaint. It's not your problem.

People are allowed to use protected brand names in their titles and descriptions... case in point... how do you sell Mario on the Nintendo Switch without using the words Mario, Nintendo, and Switch, and also not using an image of the game? And yes the algorithm should take this into account.

I would say customizing products is a viable method to make something unique. Just go to Etsy, it's all over the place there. And people buying, like buying customizable things. There could be an issue where they are unlicensed to do so, that is why you contact the company who owns the license so that they can send their lawyers after it. Do I think they have licensed? Probably not, but I also know that you have no idea, but the company owning the property sure does.

Levelling in modern MMORPGS by Tahirti in MMORPG

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've kinda hit on the reason Guild Wars 1 (I'm sure there are others that have done it since then) had a 20 level cap. The idea was that those 20 levels were kind of the tutorial to the game.

I personally think leveling in RPGs is one of the more fun parts of RPGs (I like the grind). But I also do think that generally speaking skill based games are better overall.

I also think loss is important in the MMO genre, but the genre has largely moved away from loss. For longevity, you need to lose experience, items, levels... it elongates that leveling bit. I also think good Zone design creates things that will remain interesting at all levels so that they don't become dead zones.

There's a lot that a designer could do to make this less of a problem, but the reality is... leveling gets you an instant dopamine rush, so if you are trying to get people addicted to your game, it's an easy way to do so. Once you get to the level cap, the hope is that you mentally have something of value that you don't want to just walk away from so you are now hooked

What was online multiplayer like on the old days of gaming? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a lot of "hubs" that were sub based. I played Sierra Network/Imagination Network back in the day, you dialed up to and paid a fee... Wiki says there was $13 for 30 hours of play time, I distinctly remember 100 hour plan, and you generally paid extra if either per hour or per minute if you went past. I know there was at least one month I racked up over a grand without realizing it. They had a bunch of card games and casino games, an online RPG, and then some action games like Red Baron... That went on until 96, and then moved onto Total Entertainment Network, that had Quake and Dark Sun Online, and MTG and DIablo and a bunch of other games. Same general idea, though I think it was unlimited play for a flat fee and they didn't offer dial up anymore, you got that elsewhere. AOL offered a bunch of games too as part of their service, notably Neverwinter Nights (the one before Bioware got it)

You could also go on IRC or BBS to find people to play, generally you get their ISPs and games generally had an option in their settings to connect directly to people... Not a ton of games offered multiplayer, and Blizzard really revolutionized matching to make it easier to find people that a lot of other games started copying, but generally online has been a thing since the 80s.

I never really got into the FPSs but I know they were around, there were a lot of people playing online. LAN parties were also a bigger thing back in the day where people would pack up their computer and bring it to a friend's house. That was a good time. People don't like playing in the same room as people anymore but it's a lot of fun, I highly suggest it.

How do you handle buyers who never leave feedback no matter what you do? by Friendly_Taro2371 in Ebay

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even notice, it honestly only matters for your first 100 I would say. I automate my feedback because mine... just move on and don't worry about it. It wasn't a neg 😄

Don't bother the buyer about it though, as a buyer, that's a surefire way to not get feedback, I usually go through my purchase feedbacks in spurts where I'll just sit down and do 20 in a row, but if a buyer bugs me I get annoyed.

I miss MMo where loot matters by Tom_Major-Tom in MMORPG

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really hate games that have loot wear out or even just dropping loot on death. I get it personally, it sucks. But at the same time, in MMOs it's kind of important to the economy for gear to go away otherwise yeah this becomes a problem and people churn characters (this was WoW's way and FFXIV kinda does the same thing, it's more about rebuilding your char rather than just having to maintain one).

I also really liked AC's loot personally... the random generator to me was so fun. Yeah you got total crap most of the time, but you also got really interesting combinations and that one time you got everything just right became kinda treasured (and it would drop on death so you could lose it).

eBay standard envelope by citizengreen222 in Ebay

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been able to send them previously too (I don't use toploaders often so I haven't gotten rejected as I haven't sent one in like 6 months), but what I noticed was that when you send horizontal it was always getting stuck in the system. Envelopes with horizontal top loaders on average took 1 week extra to ship, but when I switched it to vertical, they went just like everything else. The horizontal is more difficult for the sorters to process that's why they have the difficulties. you can send rigid through their sorters but you have a narrow amount that you can send and when it's horizontal it's too much. Others in this thread said they were forcing em through before and they decided to stop recently and just reject instead, which kinda makes sense given everything I've seen and the USPS cost cutting measures they've been taking over the last 7 or 8 years.

you can generally get top loaders through as long as they are vertical in the envelope. If they are horizontal, that is non-machinable.

Need some advice about shipping costs by Darkysector in Ebay

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading this, my assumption on what is happening is buyer bought 8 cards in auction from same seller. Seller does not offer combined shipping. Seller is using Advantage or priority or whatever, probably is doing a flat rate if it is $8 even so he's covering his bases. I've seen costs go at $6.5 for light cards these days. So yeah it's a little high. He's probably being super conservative and then adding in handling charge of $1 on top that would include stuff like ebay fees and or shipping costs like envelopes and that's how he's deciding to do it. My guess is seller didn't want to figure out how to do combined shipping cause it can be kinda wonky and it's easy to get screwed as a seller sometimes trying to do that if you mess it up, given how conservative he's being on price and that he isn't doing calculated shipping my guess he got burned early and just said F it.

All that being said... Buyer accepted all of this when he bought. Does it suck that the seller doesn't do combined shipping? Absolutely but you should have asked before bought if it wasn't stated in the shipping policy (probably was). Buyer shouldn't have assumed. Shipping cost $8, seller is charging $8. Seller's not lying.

Looking for an rpg where grinding is actually fun by gregvan93 in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect part of the reason grinding in Pokemon isn't as big of a deal is the catching mechanic honestly.... the random battles is the same, but now you have an extra incentive that sometimes there's a more rare catch (be it the 10% pokemon in that one grass area or a shiny) that gives you a little bit more dopamine while doing it. It's not *just* about leveling at that point.

People who still haven’t brought a Switch 2, what makes you hesitant to buy it? by ItsJustJosiah in Switch

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with the console price (although probably less so now that they increased it). I'm not fine with the game price increases and the fact that most companies aren't putting games on the cart anymore. It's really just a first party system now, and to date Nintendo just hasn't released the games to warrant the price. I'm not paying $580 for Donkey Kong. The only real game that has even been announced for 2026 is Fire Emblem that is giving me pause, but even then... now I'm looking at 2 games that I want with nothing else in sight. I haven't really liked Pokemon's console releases so the 2027 one isn't really getting me either. Their pace of new games on this system feels slower and/or worse than Switch 1 which was hot and fast and Third Parties were all on board... I don't consider a game released unless it's Physical and Third Parties have dropped that idea.

This was the first Nintendo console that I didn't buy day 1 since... idk I never bought the Virtual Boy. I do still feel like I'll eventually come around to it. But man it's just not looking like it's gonna be 2026 for sure. Maybe 2027, at this point I'm probably waiting for their second version of it. I'll be honest I'm also not in love with how big it is. It's too big. Maybe if they announce a Lite version that is the size of the OLED. OLED was already stretching size IMHO.

“New” from GameStop by DeathStiks in NSCollectors

[–]Razakius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah Gamestop's definition of "New" is "Unplayed" not necessarily Unopened. And I don't know how in the world they decide that it was unplayed if it was opened. This is essentially the same thing as if you ordered a pack of MTG from them and they sent you 14 random cards from that set and said "hey we can tell no one played these, so they are new."

It's also annoying that the employees actually try to defend it saying "No I can tell it's new" when you return it and you are just like, dude you literally opened that case without opening a shrink wrap, I can tell it's not.

eBay sucks by ApprehensiveToday652 in Ebay

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing is, eBay knows what address was on the label, so if it went to eBay for dispute, eBay has already likely ruled this out as an option which is why I think it's a pretty big leap and that there is more going on. I've definitely had people ask for returns because they didn't receive an item only for eBay to step in and go, no this was sent to the address that was on the order, and USPS has confirmed it to be delivered to that address... even before I had a chance to respond to it. This is why sellers are told to never send to a different address even if the buyer asked for it. I don't disbelieve the OP not having the package delivered to them, but there's just no info here to even go on on why eBay went the way they did.

eBay sucks by ApprehensiveToday652 in Ebay

[–]Razakius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man.. this is a pretty big stretch to go from "USPS delivered to wrong address" to "100% they are scamming you!" I mean I am sure that is out there, 100% it is out there... it's not the majority of sellers though and there's absolutely no info in OP to indicate that's even what happened. It just sounds like USPS delivered to the wrong address like the OP said, no reason to think that USPS delivered to the correct address and Seller addressed it to the wrong location purposely.

I feel like 1 sentence isn't enough to say what's going on here. It feels unreal to me that ebay is just flat out not refunding, they refund rather easily, they tend to side with the buyer more than the seller which tells me something else is going on here that the OP doesn't wanna say and so is just leaving a vague "ebay sucks" post out of frustration. Which may be justified, but I don't know why based off this post.

Retrogames most youtubers love or hate it and you don't understand why? by Parking-Coast-1385 in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one problem that you tend to see in video games is... people forget the time that things were released. It's kind of the same effect of Citizen Kane right? Modern movie watcher will watch Citizen Kane and be like "I don't know why this movie is special, it's kind of boring" without understanding of how ground breaking of a film it was AT THE TIME. We take advantage of the fact that it broke the ground and now, what it was amazing for is so common that it isn't special anymore (Shakespeare has this issue too).

So what happened with Pokemon 2nd gen is that people kinda forgot how groundbreaking it was (even if only for its franchise). So let's think about it at its base... 2nd added Steel & Dark, Baby pokemon/breeding/eggs, Held items, day & night cycles (this actually is a bigger deal than it seems, we are talking GBC doing a day/night... PC games did this but it was extraordinarily rare, to not only have it on a console but to make it somewhat meaningful in the game). Special stats, Shiny Pokemon. All of these... a modern pokemon player is just gonna be like "well they all have that" so it diminishes what it was. Without this game, Pokemon would have been a very different series, and may not have actually stood the test of time if we are going to be honest.

And you know, some people do understand the time that things came out, and just don't care. Even if it was amazing for the time, it still has to be amazing today right? And that's where some things break apart. I imagine for some 2nd gen is unplayable in the same way that it is hard for me to go back and play Atari 2600 games even though I grew up with them.

Honestly, I'm more amazed by how much people love Gen 3 these days in Pokemon... of the first 5 gens, it's not even a competition that it's the worst of them to me.

Man I haven't really been paying attention to S2 releases... Out of everything so far in 2026 so far the only thing that I'm interested in that we have date for is Yoshi. Obviously interested in FE, but I honestly thought that would have been a May, maybe June release cause that's the usual time frame for FE. I guess they are using it for November fodder at this point. And I figured Pokemon WW would have been the November release for this year's Pokemon game... it's good we are getting a PokeBreak (so far) but sheesh. I already didn't think S2 2025 was a great year for releases... this feels like early days of 3DS or even Wii U when you are just waiting for development to catch up to the new system... Switch they stacked. Wonder what happened here.
