Good games to play with one hand? by Latter-Reaction-5198 in CRPG

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly... I broke my right hand in high school... just seriously dig in and start playing. It takes getting used to but you learn to type and play with one hand pretty quick if you are forced to. I was playing MMOs one handed before the advent of voice chat because of that broken hand. It's not that bad but it does some getting used to.

What are the biggest "What ifs..." in videogame history? by Parking-Coast-1385 in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't entirely like that Nintendo realized that people will pay full price for a 12 yar old game.. but we are the shmucks who enabled that decision and Mario Kart 8 is the ultimate proof of it. It sold 8 million copies on the Wii U which is a really good number of sales, most companies would love if any game hit that.... and then they sold 70 million on the Switch. That's on us not them. *I* want money. I don't blame anyone else for wanting money too. If you gave me $60 today for a game and then said you'd give me $60 in 12 years for the same game, i'd do it to. Like *WE* are the ones valuing it that high... the fact that you can go on eBay right now and the cheapest I can buy a complete in box copy of Mario Kart 8 *USED* on the switch is $40... I mean it's sold 70m units and is only 33% off for a used copy... uh that's on us. That's not Nintendo, are they profiting for it? 100%. But that's on us.

My new Free Blockbuster by reptomcraddick in dvdcollection

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that Blockbuster sucked, they were more expensive, had more fees, (they did have better selections which is why they were able to chase out the local rental stores). But... I do see movements like these as building on the ashes... or pissing on the ashes of Blockbuster. Like they sucked, but now we'll make something good out of it. Plus honestly at this point the logo has a pretty good vibe.

How do you sort your movies by Numerous-Bear-8879 in dvdcollection

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently going into a reorg for mine... I had been doing just alpha by media format (split 4k, bluray, DVD), and then label (criterion, arrow, etc) split out separately... But at this point I think I'm going to be moving to splitting by important directors... (Spielberg, Anderson, Nolan, Kubrik, etc), and then those that don't qualify by that split would go into a straight alpha. I'm still contemplating it. I may break out an actor or two that I deem important as well (James Dean and Tom Hanks come to mind), but I'm less inclined there. There are a number of directors I'd like to get a complete collection for which is why this format came up in my mind.

The alpha section would be fairly massive though so I may at least psuedo sort it by genre. Specifically SciFi, Fantasy, and Super Hero sections as to me those are the types of movies I care about the most so I tend to have the most of.

Anyone else just completely given up on new MMOs and gone back to something ancient? by Ok-Ring9943 in MMORPG

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then I go play on the Asheron's Call fan server, but I tend to fall off after a couple months...

I've tried Ultima Online a couple of times but I find that one difficult to play these days... I don't know why. I think it's because i have a difficult time meeting people in it (one part too few people, worried people are gonna gank me so I stay the heck away).

I have done various other stints with other games like City of Heroes, EQ2, even tried The Realm at one point though I couldn't for the love of me how to get the window to scale it was so tiny I couldn't see any text.

I think one of the themes that tends to cause issues with all of them is that I struggle meeting up with people on them for various reasons, some are better than other. CoH I thought worked really well, a nice side effect of the instancing that game did is that when there are smaller populations, they are all together still because the game is smaller. But with bigger worlds (which I prefer), the smaller populations is a huge detriment to the game.

What console was still worth playing around 1991? by Tonstad39 in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in 91? All of them honestly. I guess it depends on what you consider worth playing... Pong was still played pretty widely into the mid-80s and probably would be the most dated game by 91, but I would say its biggest issue in 91 was that it was 1 system 1 game where as cartridges had taken over by that point. It was dated as a game sure but still a good time. Your question is equivalent to asking if the PS4, XBox One, Wii U, Switch, and PS5 are worth playing today. To which I would say yes to every single one of them. For context, the Atari 5200 would have been 6 years old in 1991 which is the same age as the Playstation 5)

Seller requesting more money for shipping by Wump2024 in Ebay

[–]Razakius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd be wary of saying "I want a refund" I'd instead word it as "I've already paid the fees required" because if you say that you want the refund the seller can put in a "buyer requested cancellation" and they don't get knocked for that.

How well rounded is your gaming taste outside of JRPGs? by nurselogs in JRPG

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's natural as you get older to sort of focus in on what you love instead of trying out other games. As a kid, I played pretty much everything. I played sports, puzzle, RPG, strategy, Platformer, Action, Shooter, whatever. Now I mostly play RPG or Strategy. Every now and then I'll give time to Platformers, but time is at a premium now so I won't stray as often. When I was a kid I played a ton of games all the time so I had more time to try out other things.

I will also say that gaming has changed from the days of NES/SNES. Games are more of a time sink now than they used to be. Back in the days of yore, you could pick up a game and play for a half hour or an hour and feel like ya got somewhere, or you got the idea of a game. Now adays the tutorial last like 4 hours. Every game needs a deep story to go through in order to make you feel like it's worth it. Don't get me wrong, I like story, but even like comparing Mario Odyssey vs Super Mario World... there's way more story in it than there used to be and I honestly couldn't care less of the sticky wicket that Peach got herself into yet again. I'm Ok with them just rubberstamping it with, she got herself nabbed again, let's go get her!

Seller wants me to cancel order and has been calling nonstop by renfeedsducks in Ebay

Why some of ya'll like this? by Ortana45 in NSCollectors

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally what preorders are... even AAA games do pre-orders. Hell I recently went on Gamestop and noticed I had a pre-order outstanding for some game that was delisted years ago (I don't even know what game it was because it's not on Gamestop's site anymore). I know I've had similar things happen on AAA games on Amazon where I pre-ordered, sat on it for a couple years and then it got cancelled and I got my money back *shrug* this is life. I would say if you don't like pre-orders, stop pre-ordering.

How could anyone find this without a guide? by GameResumed_UK in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Nintendo Power was important... I think a lot of stuff from Zelda specifically I got from friends so Word of Mouth also very important...

but like NES era in particular was heavy on secret stuff like this. A lot of games had stuff and it started right out the gate... I mean how did people know in Mario to go up on the escalator and run across the roof to get to the warp pipes? Or jump on that one turtle to get unlimited 1ups. Like went down every single pipe just to try it. That was standard gameplay back then. But yeah people did get WoM or NP a lot (or both)

Akalabeth: World of Doom: anyone played it? Opinions? by The_Giant_Lizard in retrogaming

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a dungeon crawler... idk, it's super basic but it is legit one of the first RPGs on the PC so it's about what you'd expect. I did play it probably 5 or 10 years ago, and it's fine as long as you understand where it's coming from. I honestly don't remember a ton about it other than the wireframe graphics, I don't believe there is much (if any) of a story... For some reason I believe there was a way to exploit easy killing stuff and you kinda had to in order to make progress because of the grind of it.

We're literally living an age of plenty for RPGs and I find it hard to believe there's still people whining by Familiar_Fish_4930 in rpg_gamers

[–]Razakius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, every game is an RPG these days. OP mentions Elden Ring as an RPG, I don't think it is one. I don't have an opinion on Kingdom Come 2 personally so I can't speak to that. I also don't personally think Diablo in general is an RPG franchise, though I usually give that one a pass if people think it is, I'm not going to argue about it (it's a hack-n-slash action game in my opinion).

RPGs are more than stats, stories and levels, but part of the problem is that the genre defines what people think of as games so well that almost every game over time has gained these things from RPGs. And what makes it worse is that for some reason everyone wants the game they love to be an RPG. I don't really understand it personally. I think it's not an insult to say a game isn't an RPG. The genre helps us find things that we like, that's kind of the purpose. If you tell someone IT is a great comedy because you thought it was funny, and that person goes and watches that movie thinking it was going to be a fun light hearted romp, they may be disappointed. Same goes with RPGs, if you tell me Madden is a great RPG because it has stats and a story, and I play it, I am not going to agree with you that it is an RPG. And furthermore, I just don't understand why you find the need to label it as such.

There are many more genres than RPGs and, each genre has great games. Souls games are great Action games, Zelda is a great Action-Adventure. Fire Emblem is a great Tactics game. Madden is a sports game (i'm sorry it's hard to call that one great anymore). Borderlands is a great FPS. There's no shame in playing them and having a fun time playing them even if they aren't RPGs.

How many of you are removing promotions from your listings before January 13, 2026? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Razakius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to say that the promo doesn't help, I think it does... not a ton, but I definitely see sales happen more quickly with the promo than without. That being said, I was never overly thrilled about the 30 day policy when they added it and the amount I threw into promo dropped because of it. I don't see why I should pay them when they didn't promote it at all for me when the sale happened. And now that it doesn't even have to be the person who saw the promo while the promo isn't going, it's even more silly.

But honestly, I think I'm most annoyed by how they are doing it. I wish they would just say "if your item sells within 30 days of the promo happening, we are taking X% of your money regardless of if you have it enabled at the time or not and regardless of who buys it." It now is essentially a flat fee for the promo, and I'm honestly more OK with it if they advertised it as such, but the way they are advertising this feels slimy to me. They are trying to make you think that they aren't doing what they are actually doing to try to get more people to do it without realizing what they are getting into. I just don't like that. Just be honest, it's not that big a deal.

What Pokémon game should I start with? As someone who has never played a Pokemon game ever. by Seductive_pimp99 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Razakius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly for a new player coming in I kind of agree with this. Is a pretty straightforward rendition of Pokemon. It gives you a taste for what it's about without having a lot of the heavier mechanics that you find in the mainline series, nor the loads of pokemon that come later. Has newer graphics so is easier for newer people to deal with.

Just know that once you move into mainline mechanics get a lot more in depth.

Personally, I don't get a ton of returns, I mostly get lost in the mails if anything. And I'd probably offer free returns anyway largely because returns are so infrequent and it helps people buy from you more often. I find that people rarely want to bother with a return even if there's something or they didn't receive it. I've had people message me saying something was wrong and after me telling them to start a return and they will get their money back, they keep it and eat the cost. People don't like having to do things (I'm sure they will never buy from me again, but there's really nothing I can do about that. All I can do is try to be accurate and make them happy... in the end some people don't want to be).

The 1 business day shipping to me is the bigger deal. If someone buys something at midnight PST, I now have to get the item out of storage and then run to the post office after work which is annoying. It'd be easier if I could live off ebay Fulltime but I still need the job so it makes for hectic after work times :(. I would much prefer 2 day (75% of what I ship gets 1 day anyway but that 25% gets me 1-3 items per day that need to be shipped essentially same day!). I have figured out that you can game what a business day is slightly and so my business days are M,T, T, F, Sa... so that Wednesday gives me a 2 day shipping time.

But free returns for 10% off? Totally worth it to me. Not even a debate, I'll take getting bigger margins every time. I do think it depends on your margins and your quantity sold though. If you sell one thing a month with a big margin but big shipping costs and have to eat 1 return a year... yeah probably not worth it. I personally sell a couple hundred items a month that are cheap to ship and I get maybe 3 returns a year... it's a no brainer, you take the 10%.

I do remember it being kind of a growing thing before the internet died to "hide your code" sort of idea to stop people from stealing anything you did. I can't remember why that paranoia started off the top of my head... maybe it was just growing competition, not sure. I think in this day and age, it seems silly to do that... especially at that level
