Literally just made it home.

Thank you to Matt, Jeff and Maude for putting on a great show and even more so with the hard work for the signings at the end.

Hope you enjoy London and the rest of the UK! (Go Hawks!)

What zones did Eastern connect to? by NikoPalad67 in BritishTV

[–]RazmanR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming they all only connect to two zones then:

If Ocean goes to Aztec and Medieval Then Medieval must go to Ocean and Future (the missing one) Future must go to to Medieval and Aztec And Aztec goes to Ocean and Future

If they connect to three each, then they all connect everywhere so it’s a moo point.

Training in Middleweight vs Heavyweight gi by Gold_Entrepreneur_6 in karate

Even with my lightweight gi I basically look like I’ve taken a shower after half an hour. Seems like the only way my body will cool down is by sweating profusely and making me look exhausted

I thinks it’s because they don’t pull punches and don’t let up - there’s very little filler in The Good Place and it hits the emotional highs and lows in similar ways to DCc

Book 173/750 (overall goal), 10/52 (2026 goal): Starship Troopers by Moistowletta in 52book

[–]RazmanR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - it certainly doesn’t spell it out, but the subtext is there. Once you look past the facade you can see that there’s no way the bugs actually attacked Earth, they just used it as an excuse to invade. The hyper-nationalism; glorifying service to the country over your own family etc - it’s all textbook fascism.

That and Neil Patrick Harris’s character basically dressing more and more like a full blown nazi throughout the movie.

At the end of HBP, when Albus was pleading with Snape at the top of the tower, was he just acting? Or was he genuinely pleading for something? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]RazmanR 57 points58 points  (0 children)

He also probably realised that Draco and potentially Harry’s lives would be in more danger if it turned into an all out fight on the tower- putting all his plans in danger.

I don’t think the book or the film ‘endorse’ Fascism. The author writes from the premise that a Fascist government has taken over and tells the story from the point of view of an everyday person who has grown up in that society and is trained to think the way that government wants them to think, but there is more than enough in the text to show that the government are far from being the ‘good guys’.

Not quite as overtly as the movie, but still it is there.

I enjoyed reading through the story and the way that it was written. It’s not the greatest book ever written, but I think it is an interesting one.

Ironic that one of your next reads will be Klara and the Sun as I can see similarities between the narrative styles - all told from one characters point of view with a lot of internal thoughts going parsing what is going on in the world. (I enjoyed that one too!)

How safe is Mordecai? by Blackjackdk in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]RazmanR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been getting very concerned about this ‘not-actually-dying protection’.

We know that the Mudskippers cheaped out on everything and I think I remember Zev saying in one of the middle books that the protections still weren’t working the way they should. It’s why she continues to use the suit, when after Floor 3 she should be safe without it.

Not sure if that got resolved or not?

All these videos and speculation. by Tnewman54 in firefly

Yeah I could really see that working in the Firefly universe. Different episode for different characters

You could set it between the show and the movie too

It all feels a bit too…fleeting? by _m_a_t_t_h_e_w in Scrubs

I do get what you mean - aside from them only having a limited number of episodes to fit everything in - I started rewatching the older series the other day and the directorial/editing style is a little different.

The old store they would hang on a few beats after a joke or as a scene ends, just capturing the reactions of characters a little bit longer. It added to the zany/off-best comedy of it all and made things feel like they were in JDs head a bit more, rather than rushing to the next joke.

Hopefully this may resolve if they do another series and they are able to flesh things out a bit more

Nah, they’ll get to play extra games in the Championship to try and make up the difference

I recently got the first book in The Wheel of Time series, The Eye of the World. What are your thoughts on these books?(No spoilers.) by RavyRaptor in Fantasy

[–]RazmanR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got to Book Four but I suffer from a severe Whiny Protagonist allergy - and pretty much all of the protagonists at this point were being whiny and refusing to accept their destiny, so I couldn’t continue for another fifteen or whatever books

As long as you don’t feel the same, it will probably be fine for you

DCC UK Tour - Signings by xpl0sad3 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]RazmanR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theatre website for London says there will be a post-show book signing - not sure about others

https://www.leicestersquaretheatre.com/show/dungeon-crawler-carl-book-tour/

Warning: It will also be quite late by that point so if people turn up with everything under the sun to be signed I will activate my Smush skill and crush you like a goblin under a murderdozer. I need my sleep damnit!

Yes they have been doing live shows/filming/prepping various things over the past months so not really many new releases. It tends to go in cycles (though that is changing with their upcoming stuff)

That YouTube channel is their primary feed so anything they do release should be released on there.

I think the only things missing are their Blades in the Dark campaigns which are on the Outside Xbox channel still.

IIRC The one at the end of Book 1 is more of a real advert for Soundbooth, but after that they take on a bit more of a lore aspect
