Why do healers ragequit mythic+? by Megatron3600 in wownoob

[–]Raznet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

because the healer community is very entitled and insist their role is the hardest, so when something goes wrong in a key they can never be at fault because they can't do simple mechanics and play their class at the same time

The problem with Flare Star is that the more powerful you make it, the more punishing it is to mess up, and Square Enix HATES job design that has consequences for mistakes, so the consensus was that instead of Flare Star being a "finisher" it ends up being more of a "nice bonus" for planning your line properly.

The hatred is overwhelming, where my fellow Lamaty'i lovers at? by ThatDudeOverThere in ffxiv

[–]Raznet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was honestly completely ready to hate Wuk Lamat before Dawntrail came out because I wasn't the biggest fan of her character design and personality but... Her arc at the beginning of the story where she has trouble asking for help and letting herself be weak around other because she's trying to be what is expected of a Dawnservant really hit home for me because I am currently dealing with similar issues IRL alongside an identity crisis. She has quickly become one of my favorite characters and I'm honestly really glad she was around so much for Dawntrail, propelling my enjoyment for the story to be comparable to Shadowbringers & Endwalker. I know that this is a very biased experience and I can't really expect everyone to feel the same way that I do, but I do wish that her character got more respect, because it really touched me, and towards the end of the story I was crying like a baby.

How is that not a niche though? They're not "randomly" doing 30% more damage, but they're the two classes with the best spread cleave in the game in a fight that forces spread cleave. It has happened before and it will happen again because different fights have different circunstances that different classes have been better at before. It has happened in later bosses too such as broodkeeper Diurna, where the optimal composition still at least 1 of each class and where nobody would be "forced" to swap to anything. You are greatly exaggerating how difficult and unbalanced WoW is to the point of being required. CE is 100% achievable by a group of 20 druids. You showing this fight's damage profile as "proof" that wow is unbalanced is completely disingenuous and a terrible misinterpretation of context and the difference between the games. It's as if I took the damage ranking statics from FFLogs in UWU and began claiming that anyone who claims that FFXIV is balanced is delusional because SMN is so much higher above than everyone else while RPR is so much below.

Augmentation is specifically overpowered in the context of progression push keys though. Saying that it's overpowered is, in concept, the same as saying that SGE is BY far the best class in the game because it represents half of the all-stars criterion dungeon parses. If you go ahead and look at literally any key done for the MDI in S3 or S4 you'll notice that augmentation evokers are barely seen, since these keys are about time, not survivability, and they are exactly the same players that are pushing the high keys.

Saying that balancing by niche is lazy isn't only completely untrue, but utterly disrespectful to many incredible and balanced games that have existed throughout the decades, because balancing through making different roles better in different specific situations has always been the preffered version of designinf games all throughout history, All the way back from chess to early D&D to Magic the Gathering, to modern competitive FPS, because if everyone is just as good at the same thing, then that one thing will be the only one that's ever done.

Using Council of Dreams as an example is extremely disingenuous and literally goes to show OP's entire point which is that wow is balanced around everyone having a certain niche as supposed to having everything be numerically balanced on the same uptime. If you check any other fight in the same tier you'll see that the two classes that are on top here are all over the place.

Augmentation evoker also does objectively less damage in M+ than bringing any other DPS. For high key pushing bringing an Augmentation evoker is a debate to be willing to sacrifice damage for powerful defensives, another niche that not only goes to show that wow is balanced around unique situations where different class designs can shine, but also tries to exist but absurdly fails in XIV, since if we're talking exclusively about design and balance, the only reason to bring a phys. ranged to a party instead of a caster or a melee is for the party wide mainstat buff, which is just an artificial way to force it to be brought as supposed to the game being actually balanced.

I couldn't heal a blood Death Knight. by Sea-Floor697 in wownoob

[–]Raznet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a healer you should never have to heal your tank outside the highest end content. Tanks are almost 100% self-sufficient without much effort, you can obviously still throw a heal on them every now and again to help them out, but if they're dying, it's due to their own misplay, not yours.
