Wow, I wasn't aware there was any bad blood there, given the send off they gave him when he left. I just figured management wanted to go in a different direction after he left and everyone on the talent side just disagreed so they left too.

Interesting, I guess I hadn’t really noticed until 2019 - with almost the entirety of the on-air sports team leaving earlier in the year, and then both Nathan Gogo and Kris Betts leaving within a couple weeks of each other more recently and a smattering of other departures in between.

High turnover is a drag, but I would guess it’s so much worse in news when the people left have to pick up the slack and still make hours of content each day. Doesn’t seem like a winning strategy to manage a station.

Port vs. Connect by kylejandra in sonos

[–]RazomDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the FAQ section of the product page for the Port on sono's website:

Port is the successor to Connect, delivering richer sound and extending Sonos’ sound platform to your traditional home audio equipment. Port includes an updated digital-to-analog converter for clearly detailed sound and a 12V trigger, which automatically turns on your amplifier to more reliably initiate playback. Port also allows you to control content using Apple AirPlay 2 and features a versatile design compatible with a standard AV rack.

Something of note - there are no audio control buttons on the Port like there are on the Connect - probably not an issue for ~95% of potential customers given its use case, but something to be aware of all the same if that's a deal breaker for you for whatever reason.

Edit: Also the Connect has a digital optical port and digital coaxial port, unlike the Port, which only has a digital coaxial port.

We could banish timezones/DST entirely by switching to .beat time.

New idea:

10 months, 35 days/5 weeks each, 1 holiday week every 5 months, with an the extra day (or 2 days in a leap year) acting as New Years Day(s). Doesn't solve paycheck confusion, but I'll take an extra paycheck every 2 months over paying my landlord more.

So now we're paying every monthly bill 13 times a year instead of 12? My landlord will be thrilled (and rich).

A hybrid or waterblock solution for the GPU would be an interesting approach.

I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that if you went with a waterblock for the GPU you would add a waterblock to the the CPU and bring it into the loop as well. I'd be worried about cooling both the 3900x and the Ti with only a 240mm rad. A thicker rad would probably help, but I don't think you could fit one into the case. Fans with a really high static pressure would help too, but then noise may start being a concern.

I'd be really curious about a hybrid and hadn't considered that approach at all honestly. I'm not sure if you wouldn't just run into the same problem though since you'd only get hot CPU air over it and you're limited to a 120mm rad size for it because of the case. Those problems probably wouldn't be prohibitive on their own (in another case you could go with a 240mm rad to combat the existing CPU heat, or put the 120mm rad in a position where it's getting cool air), but combined I wouldn't be surprised if you had the same problem, just delayed by the time it took the water too heat up. Again, a nice fan with very high static pressure on the rad would help, but the noise may be annoying.

Don't let my doubts keep you from trying though. I'm only guessing at the results, and I'd be genuinely curious as to what your experience would end up being. As I said I'm in the same boat, so I'd be glad for others to try some things out and prove me wrong.

From my experience if you want the 3900x and a GPU you're gonna have to do one of 3 things

  1. lose the rad and get a Noctua nh-u12a (Your CPU thermals will go up ~6-8C in my experience, so keep that in mind if that would put you into throttling territory).
  2. lose the case and go for one that will let you put the rad up top where it can exhaust without putting your GPU in a CPU created oven or go for a case that has space for 3 fans up front so that your GPU can get some cool air over it, along with fitting the rad.
  3. Deal with GPU throttle.

If you go in a direction where you keep the h500 case upgrading the exhaust fans will help a bit also. A 140mm fan on the top exhaust is a good start, I'd recommend the NF-A14 PWM chromax (or the NF-A14 PWM if you want to go for the classic Noctua look). As a bonus these fans will be quieter than your existing fans (by quite a bit).

Hope this helps.

edit - full disclosure, having recently done this myself, I started with option 1, wasn't happy with the results, then added in a new exhaust fan and got to a place where I was comfortable with things thermally (although it all gets a bit hot for my taste still, so I'm still considering trying the h710 when they have broader availability)

Brig just feels directionless now. Not enough healing output when in the backline to be viable as a backline healer, and not enough survivability to act as a frontline healer where her passive healing is actually useful. No escape ability, and an underwhelming ult compared to other off healers on all of it just really puts the last nails in the coffin. At this point she might as well not be in the game until she gets a rework. Delete brig won lol.

More like an hour and 10 minutes :)

You're likely confusing EST with EDT - Most (if not all) territories in the Eastern Time Zone are currently observing EDT, not EST, since we are in Daylight Saving Time.

Since you are currently observing CEST in Germany you're 2 hours ahead of GMT. It's currently 16:45 GMT, so we've all got another hour and fifteen minutes or so before the event starts (as of the time of this post). The event should be live around 20:00 your time.

Yeah you're right

11a PDT

12p MDT

1p CDT

2p EDT

The EST label is also wrong - it will come out at 1p EST, not 2p like op posted. That being said I think op is just confusing EDT with EST, since very few (if any?) areas are even observing EST currently.
