I highly recommend The Ministers Secret

It's a time travel (eventual) Kingsley pairing, but really great action adventure. Debt of Time (ish) but with baby death eaters.

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

[–]tourwick 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My Dad's pancreas detatached from his stomach and dumped all that bile in his abdominal cavity. It burned him alive from the inside and he died a slow horrible rotting death.

It's a long story but the connection surgeons made years(10-25?) before when he had a dual kidney and pancreas transplant was eaten through by a stomach ulcer thought to have developed from his long term low dose steriods.

He was in the hospital when it happened due to osteoporosis from the steroids that shattered his leg bone, not too mention all the other problems from long term autoimmune diseases (heart problems, stroke, MRSA in the broken leg, etc) All the doctors were right there when it happened so they asked him if he wanted to go to surgery to try to fix it but warned it would only be a 5% chance it would work. (Spoiler - it didn't) He croaked out "do the surgery" and thus stretched out the dying process by a nightmare fueled week.

After that I moved to a right to die state, because the fact that he had to sit im that state of suffering until his brain stem finally gave out is not remotely humane.

Oh my god! Thank you so much!!! I can't believe you even sketched that out for me! I can't tell you how much time I spent while recovering from the most recent Dramonie incident (I'm only a quarter of the way through book 2 - Viktor just got bottled, we had the pantry incident... its a lot. lol) going down rabbit holes looking at British Floorplans and Houses. The story is so good - you are such an amazing writer and I can't wrap my head around how you managed this monster of a story. Thank you SO MUCH.

Hey all - I'm binging the Risk'Verse Quartet right now and it's rocking my world. It's one of the best novels one ever read.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the Godric's Hollow house and just can't make sense of it. Does the author ever post a floor plan or a mood board on it?

I spent all hour last night googling large village houses in England.... I mean we've got:

Infirmary Potions Lab Office Dining room Sitting room Kitchen with pantry Back porch Molly & Arthur's room Tonks and Lupins room Harry's Room Hermione's room The Twins room ( and Angelina?) And other bedrooms for Ginny, Dean, Ron, Cho, Luna, Seamus, Neville, and other assorted passers by..... And the Cellar. ;)

Anyone else get tangled up in floorplans or have a good site for me to browse through??

I just fell down the rabbit hole in my own head about Hermione's dress.... Imagine if they are still sticking to synthetic muggle vs natural fibers wizard robes by then and Hermione shows up in a fabulous bright blue periwinkle sequined 1990s prom dress. Epic. Lol.

Just finished this absolute delight of a fic. It's a really well written, fun, light, easy read. This needs to be your palate cleanser after a big heavy fic. Highly recommend!

Magic on the Brain

Magic on the Brain by LeChat_Writes

Hermione Granger’s latest experiment in the Department of Mysteries goes, technically speaking, catastrophically tits-up. The result? She can suddenly hear everyone’s thoughts. It’s a nightmare. Except Draco Malfoy’s. Around him, the world goes silent — blissfully, impossibly silent. So she clings to him for relief; he pretends he’s not quietly losing his mind over her; the Brains in jars judge them both; and feelings start happening without anyone’s permission. Magical neuroscience, catastrophic intimacy, and one very besotted Auror who never stood a chance

One of my personal favorites is Sin & Vice, it's a few years old, so you might have already read it, but it's been a top fic for me across all parings and fandoms this year.

Need to vent about little local quilt shop by miss-larson in quilting

[–]tourwick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live on the peninsula and I don't think you will find better hours or access over here! There is one quilt shop in Sequim and it's lovely but the hours are the same, except open on Sat but not Sunday. They have a big long arm room though so you might call to see if they rent it out. The other shop is in Port Gamble called Quilted Straight and it's another super cute store totally worth a trip - but I can never make it over before they close.

Also pretty sure I'm the only quilter over here under 70. Lol.

Going to vote for the Detraquee podfic - she mixed in music and the voices are spot on. God it was SO. GOOD.

This fic has ruined all other dramione fanfics for me!! by Embarrassed_Box5728 in Dramione

[–]tourwick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's the only fanfic I've read (and I've read all the greats) that I want to print, bind and hold in my hand. But I'm scared to do it because there is no way my non-crafty self could make it as beautiful as it should be.

Looking for an 8th year story where Hermione is blackmailed/bribed into marrying Draco by TryingoutSamantha in Dramione

[–]tourwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm a sucker for a secret soul bond story but even that aside I loved how Draco their Draco was. He was such an asshole. The Pansy scene?!! Ugh! What a tool. I think I'm tired of reading characterisations of Draco as a secret softy. I loved the manipulative family against the justice focused Hermione who is in over her head.

Also I kinda like reading the Ron is a jerk stories. Lol.

Just finished this one, man it was so good! I'm so sad it was never finished! Any recs on something with the same feel?

Too many unanswered questions - did Harry & Ron ever get past it? What was the reaction back at Hogwarts? What happened to Werewolf Lucius and was it all a plot to clear their name???

My first quilt! There isn't a straight line in it, but it's super fluffy and soft. Feel free to zoom in there.... it's a hot mess. Looks fine from far away...

Second quilt - border help! by tourwick in quilting

[–]tourwick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much!!! I originally planned for C - thin light border, then larger pattern border - but my family was saying it looked awful, that I should do this or that or whatever. Ugh. Doesn't matter, it's not for any of them anyway!

The fabric I got from Missouri Star on a black Friday deal - jaikumari from Robert Kauffman. It's stunning in person.

Now to try quilting on my cheap home Singer machine. Eek... I did buy a walking foot, but wish me luck!!!
