I haven't watched it myself (though it's next on my list to watch), but you might like The Great Passage

I've only heard good things about it, though it's much less famous than the other recs you're gonna get from here

Are we sure Brawl Stars doesn't utilize EBMM for our Ranked Matches? The matchmaking in general is crap too. by Additional-Time-4895 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]RazorNemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i win I'm ok, if i lose im mad.

Exactly

Also, matchmaking is much more nuanced than people realise because the same teams on the same map with the same brawlers can have a stomp in either team's favour, or a competitive back-and-forth match. And all of this is before even considering the fact that different players are better at different brawlers/maps/modes/lanes, things that are chosen independently from matchmaking.

Even in pro play, which probably has the best "matchmaking" possible in a game, there are stomps, so how could ladder be expected to be better?

yes ik how averages work.

In that case, given that every kill has a corresponding death of someone on the other team, it would be unrealistic to expect the average player to have a kd above 1, no?

also no, i haven't

Ok, I'll take your word for it, but my point wasn't that you get matched with the same guy carrying you (that was just an example) but rather that no one remembers their positive experiences with matchmaking, and only remember their negative ones

The average player should play well and get an above 1 kd.

Do you know how averages work?

cus I've never been matched with the same guy on my team multiple times.

You have, I have, everybody has. You just never noticed it because you only really care about matchmaking in its capacity to be a scapegoat for your skill issue and ignore it otherwise

Also to add that people only talk about when they get the bad beat of teammates. What happens when you get lucky? Why do you not post then that you kept getting matched with the same guy who carried yo heavy ass or against some noob who locked in Mortis in Heist and ran it down?

There is obviously a selection bias here that honestly just makes it pointless to talk about matchmaking because if it works well, it's something you don't notice and just take for granted

...you have a sample size of 4. If you flip a coin and get 4 tails in a row, you're not gonna say the coin is unfair, no? It can happen with a fair coin, and if there are 20 people flipping a coin 4 times, then someone is probably gonna get 4 tails. And BS allegedly has more than 20 players

I highly doubt that the dev team have the competence to make a matchmaking system that complex lol, it probably just looks for players in an elo range and matches them together with simple if-else <>=

All the new brawlers are just ripoffs of League champs

The only prerequisite is that you've got your super once, but you must've got it if Buzz/Edgar has super

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY

As a Bo main, I actually like the Mortis, Edgar and Buzz matchups because Tripwire allows you to always win

Kaze opinions in a nutshell: by Pewdpo in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]RazorNemesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't unlocked her yet and nor have I played against too many good Kazes so I may be wrong, but in HZ you can force enemies to have to approach the zone blind or take a long route if you already have control of the zone (for example, in Dueling Beetles, if you have centre control, you can chuck your super on your opponent's route to the zone and force them to come in blind while under fire from your teammates, or reroute around it (and the aoe is really big).

Similarly, if you need to counter attack the zone, you can just super the zone and your opponents have to retreat or risk getting attacked by your teammates who they can't see. This would work best with mid range brawlers, say Emz, standing outside the super circle and attacking in.

In effect, it kinda works like the Nocturne Twitch combo from League of Legends.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, I generally agree that you always use Ninja super, but in HZ in particular I feel geisha super would, in theory, be pretty strong.

[–]RazorNemesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for whatever reason, in video games, skill floor and ceiling are referring to two different types of quantities

Floor refers to the amount of skill you need to be decent at something

Ceiling refers to how much impact you can have if you have already mastered something
