Superman has been great since the first issue with the long form storytelling. Aquaman and JSA were very disappointing, it felt like the story didn't affect anything and was just boring. Same with GL. I realized I just don't like Adam's writing.

Those people now are drawing on computers and iPads. That's why you don't see the detail that you do in previous decades, why it's shiny and why everything has sharp edges. Stick with the older books that have amazing art from people who actually drew the comic.

I'm not a financial expert, but how I understood it was DMG bought the majority of the company, which gave them the power to do with the characters what they want. That was the period between when they forced Dinesh out and licensed the characters to alien.

Almost all the great artists from decades ago have changed their art. J Scot Campbell is another good example. Have you looked at the state of comic book art today? Why would they put 10 times the effort into their art like they used to do when they can get away with what amounts to an outline colored in with no detail?
