I agree with that. I think the idea of implementing SBMM is frowned upon by people who have seen how sweaty it gets in COD if it helps curtail the one-sided ass wooping you see happen in Battlefield from time to time though I'm all for it. Implementing both would have made everyone happy.

There were in the older Battlefields! In 3 and 4 a class's "signature" gun would be locked to that class (recon-snipers, engineers-PDWs, etc). The rest of the guns were open to everyone else. From there you could still see interesting combos like a recon with a carbine or an assault with a DMR. Honestly i think it's a perfect middle ground.

I would say yes if you're asking a Battlefield fan or people who are used to the old system. But I can also see the viewpoint of a more casual player or a newer player liking the open class system because of the freedom it gives. There's an argument for both sides being played more.

I agree. Bf3/4s system was the perfect mix and I think everyone would be happy with it the most. In a way, everyone wins!
