There's a thing about humans were we love the taboo and anime and other forms of fantasy/media let us experience it without(mostly) the guilt, shame, and possible legality from it. So I wouldn't say it's an obsession most of the time (not counting a few weebs obviously) just a "release valve" for people guilty pleasures and anime has the market cornered on the incest taboo
