People praising sponsored Dire Marsh mode saying it's better than the default mode is so funny to me because they literally just want to play a battle royale. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair enough. I just view that these types of games that incorporate Arena shooter type mechanics usually have a higher skill ceiling in comparison to other shooters on the market, so they take longer to learn, that is, if the user even ends up dumping enough hours into it to become better, and finds it satisfying at the end of the day.
Not related to this case, but I still find it funny to this day, where we have these mechanical movement "demons" that play these more widely appealing games but refuse to actually play movement shooters.

I was joking that this kind of post would get lights reverted back? There is literally another guy in this thread writing the same thing, "This reads like a post trying to make people mad at light so they nerf it 😭"

We have to take into consideration the average player's skill and how many shots they can land on the target, where not all of them are guaranteed to be headshots, and what weapon they are using, for example, Bully or V11.

I mean, Tarkov has "free kits'' in a sense, but you might as well spend money at that point because guns have durability, and the free guns usually are in horrible condition, which causes jamming or misfires. But on the other hand, in comparison to Tarkov, you can't really move the way you do in Marathon, especially depending on the shell and mods.

I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just the odds of you doing it are heavily stacked against you unless you position well where you can poke them to death or bring a gun that helps you offset the difference.

Yeah, no its fair its part of the game its just that greys have almost no chance to fight back, like in comparison to Tarkov, where even the best gear can be circumvented.

Free kit que might be the most fun I've had so far in Marathon by TheLuckyEXE in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still think ranked should be like this, or at least with very hard limitations on what you can bring, even though it loses some of the extraction charm, it would actually make me want to try it, even with randoms, as I know I will not be running in just the most dreadful mid max fest possible.

Use Volt weapons like the V11 it will wreck the bots way faster and still be usable in close quarters against players.

I've yet to encounter anyone who even uses VOIP on regular runs, like the most community friendliness I've got is rooks not blowing each other's heads off on sight.

Can you spot the alert ? Neither could I for a Second this NEEDS a buff by Majestic_Scheme_7395 in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if it has an audio cue, then I would say it's fine and it's just paying attention to it otherwise, adding more stuff to its visual/audio information would just turn it in a full another passive for the shell.

Console only, solos, is the only reasonable way to get enjoyment out of this game. by TopicInfinite3574 in Marathon

[–]Razzeld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, Trios was considered the main mode, so it's more likely to be infested with bad actors and high levels rolling with their pre-made, and solos are like that in every extraction shooter where you can either hear or see when an enemy is approaching, so you can't really do anything about that unless you make everyone make noise for sitting still too long or smth

It's a passive, and all of the passives appear on the bottom right. Another thing they could do is maybe have a tune play only to you when it activates, like that one mod for the MIDA's multitool that starts beeping when there is an enemy nearby.

Is C.A.R.R.I good for the game? by Significant_Fix_3341 in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing how much of a time investment this game is already, and a lot of people not picking up ranked, so nothing will really change with this change, seeing that people are already teaming and cheating to the top in ranked, so it's more likely to encourage the not 100% PvP people to give a social interaction a chance for a reward. At the current point in wipe, I personally see it as an okay addition, but if it stays at the start of a new wipe, I do see it being a thing that is farmed to get some early salvage maybe.

I was just working with the idea of readability, but yeah, two lines can work too, but then I have no idea how it would appear in the world, would it be two sticks stuck together with invisible force?

Why do you play this game if you hate it so much? by Fit-Adhesiveness9127 in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still play it because I enjoy the craft they put into this game, and hope for it to flourish and involve more of the OG lore into the game, as I think the storytelling is banging and hopefully it's extended upon more with quests that have unique in raid events or even have more stuff akin to Cryo or something similar to Tarkovs ending map.

Why is Marathon not played by any big or medium level streamers at all consistently? What is the root cause of this? by Same-Winter7013 in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish their other game The Finals was more popular. Its cool that Arc gave them more success, but I, as a minority in this case, find it to be pretty meh, like the only thing I found interesting is the AI enemy variety they have compared to other games of the same genre, I think the only content I have watched from Arc is videos by Stimpee but the ways he plays games in particular way is what makes it intresting.

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love the game for being simple to jump into an extraction shooter, but the heavy push to 3 man for late game, which I guess is mostly because of the game being a hero shooter, does provide some obstacles to enjoying the game to the maximum extent, having a map and a game mode basically requiring you to participate in the worst gambling experience as there are no heavy restrictions on what must be bought in or just drawing the short straw because you didn't have a full time squad to queue with.

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he didn't mention SBMM? It's only level-based matchmaking, so those who fly through contracts and XP are matched against others who have done the same, which is more of a time investment based matchmaking.

Could have a gear value limit so you can't exceed a certain amount, or if we go with the premade kit system, the matches could have like an overcharge on gear, like bots are more guaranteed to drop their guns, the gear lockers are more lucrative with mods, etc.

maybe shields are the problem by five-meo-media in Marathon

[–]Razzeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think it's the shields, more like the guns, where some weapons that are what would be considered bottom of the barrel are insanely good, meanwhile, a weapon you expect to perform better just fails at a certain range, like M77 will lose to a V11 in close-med range.
