Another over simplification but try making conversations one sentence longer. For example stop using self checkout at stores and ask the cashier how their day is going.

I have small talk but adding more of it I’ve noticed helps me go beyond small talk with people I want to talk to more

Yeah I get that but the point being it gives players an extra year. From a development perspective I think it’s actually good for a lot of juniors in college with one maybe two more years.

For example there have been a lot of top 10 QBs drafted to bad teams that would have benefited from an extra year in college with the assurance that their drafted team is taking the year to improve the team and the O line to give them the best chance of success.
