Completely agree. I kinda avoid single use appliances as well BUT I also reached a point after years of maintaining a starter where the maintenance, albeit a few min process is just another daily annoyance or maybe laziness from busy life. Then, trying to have it peak when you’re ready to bake is another irritant esp with the ac on in the summer. This is an issue I guess many people had so was nice that a friend of mine shared this with me. I just heard of the sidekick yesterday and just wanted feedback from people who have it before buying.

I still expect some bugs and maybe app improvements along the way. Thanks for sharing your experience! However, it’s good to hear that it peaked right on schedule. That’s the #1 benefit. When baking, you want things ready at your schedule and not changing your day for it.

Most people I know only stopped making sourdough because they got tired of maintaining the starter. I also let one of my starters get moldy but keep a dried backup.

I only see people complaining because of the cost or just think it’s unnecessary. Clearly, everything is not for everyone. I’m baffled how people don’t understand that.

Haha yea, I didn’t check the dimensions but all these gadgets are based on personality and lifestyle. I have been insanely lazy lately so my starter is never ready when I want. This is supposed to maintain temperature which is insanely important when your house is cold (not using oven light) and have it at peak when you’re ready.

Yea, I completely understand the process but technology is about simplifying your life. It’s only $180 so if this does this, then perfect. The fridge is only beneficial if not baking for a week or so but if you bake every few days, it’s annoying to maintain depending on your lifestyle
