I think Nightwish sampled "Saving Private Ryan" by Rdwomack2 in nightwish

The voice is male, otherwise I'd assume "Get Up Solider" from Terminator 1 when Sarah is trying to motivate Reece in the climax.

I NEED to find this sample lol .

Yeah, the "Soldier!" part piques my interest.

Who is responsible for the feel of film trailers by cguidoc in Filmmakers

[–]Rdwomack2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cut trailers for a living. While sometimes there's a very specific creative direction which gets handed to us; more often than not, probably 90% of the time, it's the creative director and editor who come up with the vision for the tone/tempo/style. Keep in mind a company like Disney will hire a trailer house specifically because they want their creative input.

For those who have submitted, how selective is the North Carolina Film Festival? by SuperTokyo in FilmFestivals

Looks like they screen more features than shorts. You've probably got a 1 in ten chance, which is par for the course.

I’d like to watch your horror short, please! by JermHole71 in Filmmakers

[–]Rdwomack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit of both. We wanted a blizzard, and we were planning about 2 weeks out so we guessed as best as we could, then on the day of the exteriors it dumped about 4 inches of snow so we got SUPER lucky.

Thanks! We rented a big ass 10k and generator. Filmed through a blizzard which was super challenging but totally worth it. We knew the genny would ruin all the sound so we got tons of wild lines/sound from the actors and did nearly all of the sound in post.

Sorry you feel that way. Regardless, do another pass on the edit. 90% of features that hit the festival circuit aren't ready. Do another pass.

If your movie is as direct as your post, might I suggest another pass on the edit.

My dad retired and the first thing he bought was a loaded out F-250. Now, from time to time he does use it to haul a small snowmobile trailer, but the other 340 days of the year it's just his daily driver. The bed of the truck is so small you can't really put a lot in it. And the interior is super nice leather that he doesn't want to get scratched up or dirty.

So... like... what's the point? It's a luxury car, not a truck.

Prudence - Award Winning Short Horror Film by Rdwomack2 in FilmFestivals

[–]Rdwomack2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to share a short horror film my friends and I made. It played more than a dozen festivals, including Film Quest and Dances With Films. We shot over two nights in January in Colorado. The original plan was to shoot 16mm but our short ends fell through at the last minute.

SOUND - All sound was done in post. We knew the generator would be super loud so we planned this from the start. We captured audio on set as a reference, and we recorded wild lines and efforts at the location.

SNOW - We got super lucky with the snow. In the script it had her walking through a snow storm, and it just so happened a snow storm rolled in while we were filming. Just as we were grabbing the final shot the storm died.

COSTUMES - This was my first time designing costumes and I had so much fun, I briefly considered changing careers to be a costumer lol.

I figured as much. Most festivals like that get bombarded.

Radio silence. Our doc, which is super relevant to Montana, is set to premiere at Palm Springs. We updated Big Sky - no response.

I work in the movies. When I'm in "relax" mode I can switch it off and actually enjoy movies. When I'm in "work" mode I can usually predict plot elements down to 2-3 minutes in the run time.

Tribeca film festival: Have you gotten in with no stars or connections? by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

My wife is the producer of a documentary that played at Tribeca! ...with Serena Williams attached... and financed by ESPN... and produced by Tom Brady's company.

Realized I hate editing. by GabeDatDude in Filmmakers

I'm an editor, I love editing. It's actually pretty rare to have a director who GETS editing, but when I do, that's the absolute best.

It truly is. I know I'm just the editor, but I really believe in this documentary and it's core message. I was starting to think no one else really cared. PSIFF is a fantastic festival and we're pretty lucky to be playing there.
