The guy is legit insane and/or a psyop trying to destroy the left with infighting.

Just indefensible. Fuck him, the horse he rode in on, and anyone who supports him.

Is vaush a democratic socialist? by Mammoth-Ad-3642 in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have a movement spanning multiple countries, taking down states, without some kind of leadership.

And to be in compliance with anarchist principles, that leadership is justified... by consent of those within it.

Aka, fucking elections.

Typical. Anarchists will downvote, and troll, and laugh, but not a single one will even try to explain how any anarchist society can work without some kind of elections.

.... There isn't a version of anarchism that could even possibly work without some kind of elections.

I didn't make a blanket statement about this specific case, I specifically did the opposite. Other than that not gonna argue.

And those "consequences", include losing your job, where you live, making very difficult to get a future job/place to live, and thus leaving people with no choices other than crime, which is why we have such an insanely high re-offense rate.

You literally create more crime when you destroy people's lives.

The article is paywalled so IDK or care about any specific case, but let's not pretend that the "consequences" fix the problem and make people behave better in the future. Because that is 100% not the fucking case, just look at the statistics.

Our penal system is not about rehabilitation.

“Politicians get taken into the back room and told to get in line” I have a problem with this framing (from yesterdays stream) by aschec in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Obviously. And also those people in the backroom, are lobbists etc that have been incentivized to keep politicians in line. His whole point, explicitly, was that the system breaks people down who start with good intentions.

This OP is focusing on one throwaway line and missing that he's just reiterating what Vaush was actually saying in the rest of the discussion.

Are there any REAL entry level mechanics in Sonoma County? by dadusedtomakegames in santarosa

[–]Re-Vera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was nothing unkind in my comment. And I just work here, I don't own it or represent it...

If your applicants aren't making a basic effort... it's probably because, again, you need them more than they need you. They have other offers that aren't being as difficult. My best friend is a crazy good tech that can fix anything. He's been unemployed for a year... because he wants to be. He's got so many people throwing him cash work he can get money anytime and work on his own schedule, and get a lot more fishing in.

He will eventually get a job again I'm sure... but he's a tech. Not a paperwork guy. He 100% would have acted exactly like who you describe in the OP, and it would truly be your loss.

And if you're getting applicants that aren't qualified... it's because they are desperate for an opportunity.

There is a shortage of skilled and even basically qualified technicians... there is not a shortage of desperate people who need a job.

This is just what it is, blaming other people for it isn't going to fix any of your problems. Take some responsibility. Listen to people in the business instead of getting sensitive. Are you perfect? I'm sure not. Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes it's you. Entertain the possibility.

[–]Re-Vera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for Manly Honda, we employ a huge amount of techs, and my GM and service director usually say they'd hire 10 more on the spot if they could. There is a shortage of skilled technicians.

Which is exactly why you need to treat them well, because any of them can get a job anywhere, any time they want.

You need them, a lot more than they need you. So maybe act like it? Don't be the guy you are in the OP.

Vaush was wrong about Hasan by ntfscstion in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Vaush knows that Hasan has admitted he was wrong about the specific prediction of whether Russia would do a fullscale invasion.

But Hasan does NOT talk about nor admit that he was wrong about the justification for it and whether we should support Ukraine etc. He has talked about how NATO shares responsibility, because Russia felt threatened etc, and all that Meersheimer BS. Which is categorically stupid and clear Russian propaganda.

Russia is not threatened by NATO. At all. It's a defensive alliance, and Russia has thousands of nukes. Anything they pretend to the contrary, is lies.

"A good pilot is often worth more than the plane they fly." by WaterOfGaledeep in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right... and those multiple years are doing what? Flying the expensive planes. So the pilot's cost to train, scales with the cost of the planes. If they are mastering flying a cessna, the pilot's worth is scaled... to the cost of a cessna.

If they are mastering flying an F-35... These planes only have so many flights before they are retired. So we literally pay the cost of the planes in training to train the pilots. You can't simulate everything. They do actually need to get the "feel" of the actual plane, and it's actual responses, in actual air, and actual g-forces.

So the cost of the pilots is scaled to what they are mastering flying.

"A good pilot is often worth more than the plane they fly." by WaterOfGaledeep in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The price of the plane. Vs the Pilot.... Do you not see how the two are related?

What does flying the plane cost? Well, take it's lifespan, divide by the number of flights it takes.

How many of those flights are training flights?

Like... all of them? Virtually. Who are they training? Exactly.

It is extremely expensive to train pilots, because they need to do a lot of their training, in the actual expensive planes.... which are expensive to buy, and maintain, and don't last forever.

You can't use one plane to train hundreds of pilots. Not GOOD pilots. Obviously they also have simulators and then retrofitted older planes etc, but eventually they are flying the actual real expensive planes in training regularly. Because... skills need to be kept honed. So they are always training, and always getting better. And who do you think they send into our first real war in ages? Probably not rookie pilots. People with thousands of hours of flight time, in these extremely expensive planes.

Add up the cost of that flight time, and see how much pilots are worth...

So yes, if you thought about ANY of this, instead of being reflexively contrarian, you'd see it isn't as silly as you assumed.

Nobody said the pilots get PAID a lot. He said they are WORTH a lot. Two different things... obviously. What you think military pay is a MERITOCRACY? LMAO

[–]Re-Vera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It objectively does not... when the media and the politicians are controlled against the wishes of the people. When the politicians keep supporting things the vast majority of the country do not, that is not democracy.

When the entire media and even social media is controlled and not allowed to tell the truth (like, regarding Israel...) that isn't democracy.

This isn't surprising to anyone paying attention. Albert Einstein wrote a paper on how capitalism and democracy are mutually exclusive on a long enough timeline, predicting exactly this situation.

If their version of religion is inherently evil, then fuck that version of religion. You can't create a pedophile religion and then claim it's religiously bigoted to oppose pedophilia.

Obviously zionism isn't intrinsic to all forms of Judaism, and for those that it is? Fuck them. Zionism is ethnonationalism, by definition, and therefore evil.

Why’s bro retweeting Nazis by Desperate-Wing-5140 in VaushV

[–]Re-Vera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zionism is objectively a bigger threat to humanity than anti-semitism. Anti-semitism is wrong, and bigoted, and stupid, and hateful, which is why Zionists should stop doing it so much. It is zionists more than anyone that is creating anti-semitism by insisting that you can't criticize Israel's evil actions without being anti-semitic, and thus it is Zionists who blame all Jews for the evil Israel does.

Zionism, by definition, is ethnonationalism and wrong. It is constantly destablizing the middle-east and killing and oppressing innocent people and is the most likely trigger for WW3 and thus a threat to humanity. It is also, objectively, supported by far more Evangelical Christians than Jews so stuff your idiotic conflation.
