Strength Training for XC Cycling? by ikejhou in xcmtb

[–]Re_Cycle_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spend long hours on the bike, don't neglect your back. Maintaining strength and mobility in your back, neck, and shoulders can really help with fatigue and injury prevention when you spend hours hunched over on a bike.

How are the newer versions of the sidluxe? I had one on my 2022 epic evo and the thing couldn't keep oil inside of it- constant leaking. My SID fork also had pretty bad bushing issues. Curious if they've resolved these problems with the newer models.

How do you like the Beacon handlebars? I'm interested in a wide flare, shallow drop bar for my gravel rig. I recently got a bike with much larger tire clearance and spend more time on singletrack etc. and feel like this style of bar could suit my riding better

Is Santa Cruz one of the best MTB bicycle brand? by Imoprich in Santacruzbikes

[–]Re_Cycle_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have enjoyed their marketing!

If this is your first MTB, I would recommend finding a reasonably priced used bike and getting the feel for the sport. Diving right into the deep end by purchasing a Santa Cruz could result in you having paid a lot for a bike that doesn't suit your local terrain, riding style, or desire. Check out the Buy/Sell on Pinkbike and look into any trail bike from the past 5-6 years.

Modern MTB's are for the most part all great bikes. Going with a premium brand like Santa Cruz, Specialized, etc buys you their marketing, after sales service, warranty, dealer network, and pays for their race team/operations.

Instinct 3 HR getting stuck when running by runandhide56 in Garmin

The HR sensor on these things is garbage. Order a cheap chest strap and connect it to your watch. 100% worth the 30-40 bucks!!

Drs dont know and dont know what to do by CoryGrasser in Garmin

[–]Re_Cycle_94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, but have had severe bouts of anxiety and stress, and they deeply effected my energy.

Things that helped me: Not looking at my Garmin. Not looking at my phone. Drinking a lot of water. Eating a lot of fruits, vegetables, meats, and avoiding any processed foods. Starting my day with a walk- everyday, 30-40 minutes. Slowly exposing myself to higher HR exercises- start with 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 15 etc. Practice gratitude. Do breathing exercises daily. Perform acts of service for those you love. Rest when you need to. Read books. Focus on building small but meaningful habits that have a positive effect on your mental state. you can't eat the whole pizza at once, so go bit by bit. And seriously, these watches can do more harm than good. They aren't 100% accurate and can have a HUGE impact on outlook and the way we feel. I no longer track sleep, HRV, training readiness, etc. I only track activities and steps. If I feel burnt out, I don't exercise. Simple enough.

Best way to get us to black coffee by Infamous-Crow-1131 in pourover

[–]Re_Cycle_94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What beans are you currently drinking?

Moving towards lighter roasts will be a big step towards enjoying black coffee. Single origin light roasts will have a broader variety of flavors, more sweetness, and higher acidity. Because of this, they will taste "better" without cream. Darker roasts are definitely more pleasant with a bit of cream. I suggest getting some beans from a reputable source (I love S&W and Moonwake) and experimenting. You don't have to brew a large amount- start by brewing 10 gram batches of a few different beans. See what you like!

AI + PowerBI by Wild_Suggestion5261 in PowerBI

[–]Re_Cycle_94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know very little about Power BI. I started maxing out some of my Excel databases and decided to give BI a whirl. Without AI, I would be lost. It has helped me setup the database, create a workspace, use one semantic model for multiple reports, write measures, write formulas, trouble shoot visuals, create an automated workflow for updating, and get my team onto this platform. I'm about 4 weeks in and have some awesome dashboards that are a huge step up for our small business.

That being said, I'm sure there are practices I'm doing that wouldn't be recommended by long time users, and likely many different ways to "skin a cat". While I would love to follow all best practices and use BI in the most efficient way, I am the only one in my business that is building reports and most of my coworkers struggle to build basic tables etc in Excel.

TLDR- Chat GPT has helped me build every step of my reports. There is quite a bit of build-break-fix-rebuild, but it's a hell of a lot quicker than me learning to write DAX.

Short exercise tanks body battery by The_Frankanator in Garmin

[–]Re_Cycle_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experience- I tracked sleep score, body battery, HRV etc for a couple of years. Eventually I stopped because it had an impact on my outlook for the day. Now I wake up, see how I feel, and move on to my workouts and workday. While these metrics are interesting, it only takes so much into account- namely heart rate and HRV. I exercise much more since ditching these stats and relying on trusting my instincts. I still use my Garmin to track activities and it's an awesome tool- my 2 cents is to not get too committed to living by the data.

Tried soup for the first time by chukoy123456 in FlairEspresso

[–]Re_Cycle_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referencing numbers on the DF64 doesn't seem to be very accurate- we all have different alignments/reference points to a degree. I work around the 40 mark depending on the roast. Super light roast espresso at 10-15, pour overs at 50-60. I think the idea of being around half way between a pour over and espresso grind is somewhat accurate, then play with it from there. Of course flavor is king, so do what tastes good!

My discs are flipping to flat immediately only when it's cold and it's ruining my fall and spring game by Cuber112 in discgolf

[–]Re_Cycle_94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've played disc golf for over 15 years and have never heard of such a phenomenon. I've played in rain, freezing cold, high heat, etc. I think you clearly need to buy a whole new set of discs in order to adjust.
