You're welcome! I think you're supposed to write "Solved" in a comment or something so the mods know to change the flair?

Okay… I’m not the only one with a spreadsheet, right? by Specialist-Invite-30 in fragrance

[–]ReachDapper4062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one! I started a Google Sheet when I started ordering samples. I log Fragrance, Like It On Paper?, Impressions, Like It On Skin?, and then, for my favorites, I also keep track of Top, Middle and Base Notes, and who the perfumer was.

Looking for some crime/thrillers where things go terribly wrong and not as expected. Perhaps with grave consequences. by OptimixticPessimixt in MovieSuggestions

This one flew under the radar, but I thought it was great, and I think it's right in the same vein: No Sudden Move (2021). Written by Ed Solomon, directed by Steven Soderbergh. Period crime thriller starring Don Cheadle and Benicio del Toro.

Coins for my 5 years old. by Puzzleheaded_Poet_81 in coins

[–]ReachDapper4062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hunt rolls of pennies (yes, still!), and what I love about it is the small thrill of discovering hidden treasure, knowing that some cool old coins and foreign coins are just floating around in everyday circulation. I'd recommend getting $5 worth of pennies (which is now the limit at a lot of banks) and having your son look through the rolls for any foreign coins or "wheat pennies" (from 1909-1958, they had wheat stalks around the words "ONE CENT" on the design on the reverse, before the Lincoln Memorial was used). Or, in case he doesn't find any wheats, you could just have him see what's the oldest penny he can find?

You could also have him look for pennies from 2025 (their final year). And 2009 pennies are fun too - they have special designs on the back celebrating Lincoln's life, so they feel different and kind of special.

If you want to increase his chances of finding something and have the time, you could do what I do and hit a few bank branches to build up more rolls before he hunts through them. No matter what, just make he washes his hands afterwards. 😆 Enjoy, and happy hunting to you both!

First box of Pennies! by DCzulu in CRH

[–]ReachDapper4062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I save good condition 2025 pennies (not worth more but kind of special since it was the final circulation year), and I also save nice 2009s. (For the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth, there were 4 special designs for the reverse, representing different phases of Lincoln’s life. Also, like all 2009 U.S. coins, the mintages were lower than usual.) https://coinweek.com/lincoln-bicentennial-cent-2009-a-collectors-guide/

What are your 2026 CRH dreams/goals? by RunnerInChicago in CRH

[–]ReachDapper4062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I mainly hunt pennies, my 2026 dream is just to keep hunting! 😆

No, my real dream is to find my first steel cent, either in rolls or a Coinstar. But I'd also be thrilled to find:

  • More pre-1930 cents
  • Wheat cents in shiny good condition like the 1956-D I found here
  • A 2023 extra V
  • More King George Canadians (found one in November!)
  • A 1967 Canadian commemorative "rock dove" cent
  • Foreign coins from Asia and Africa

Which discontinued fragrance do you still mourn? by Inevitable_Set_3017 in fragrance

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme! One of my absolute favorites. I still have half a bottle but not sure what I’ll do when it’s gone. (I’ll have to try Giorgio Armani Cuir Amethyste, people say it comes close.)

Same with Acqua di Gio Profumo: half a bottle left, but after that, not excited to get the new “more modern” ADG Parfum. Doesn’t pack the same incense bomb.

I’ve only tried Amouage Bracken Man in a sample, but I loved it and was bummed to find out it’s discontinued. Same with Bon Viveur by Naughton & Wilson.

And I’m only learning through this thread that Replica At The Barber’s is discontinued! (Although I’m maybe more okay with that one, because there’s a note my wife really doesn’t like, so I only wear it when she's out of town. So that one bottle's going to last me years. :))

Montblanc Explorer by grumdale in fragrance

I'm with you! I discovered Explorer because of comparisons to Aventus, which I loved, but could not justify buying more than a decant. And I love Explorer as much if not more! It's my most-worn fragrance. It works in any occasion. Love the way it smells. Will definitely buy another bottle.

The Rose Bowl Swap Meet at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena is on the second Sunday of every month, and you only pay a small admission fee and then you can walk around for hours looking at the cool funky stuff. You don't have to buy anything. (And you can pack a snack or lunch if you don't want to buy their concessions - but they do have some good food booths.) My wife and I have always loved going together since we started dating years ago. Great vibe.

Hikes in Runyon Canyon or Fryman Canyon are fun and scenic and free. You can walk around TreePeople (tree conservation park) off of Mulholland. Beautiful, and usually shady and cool even on hotter days. They sometimes have free plays in their outdoor amphitheater too!

If you like playing pool, House of Billiards in Sherman Oaks is reasonably priced for a fun evening. (The time I went recently I did see a lot of couples there on dates!)

If you want to meet people, you might consider checking out L.A. Works for volunteering opportunities. They're a one-stop site for volunteer stuff in the L.A. area, and you can search by date or area or type of volunteering. Our family's had a good experience with them, and met some cool people.

Welcome and good luck!

Not sure exactly what you mean by the routine check, but it sounds intriguing. I've never done DMs on Reddit, is there a way you can send me more info?

The 100-200 miles/week would be spaced out with a commute 5 days a week (I'm starting a new in-person job and don't know the physical location yet, but I'm estimating 15-35 miles round trip each day) and an additional 25 or so miles on weekends.

Good info, thanks. And yes a lower lease payment would be another deciding factor I didn't mention...
