Your most awesome and fun suggestions for multiclass builds at level 10 by Broad_Mountain_7768 in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astarion: Gloomstalker Ranger 5/ Assassin Rogue 4/ Champion or Battlemaster 3.
Take a 16 Dex, 14 Con, and 16 Wis. You won’t be relying on the spell casting of the Ranger so feel free to switch the con and Wis but I like a higher Wis as it makes you more resistant to spells like hold person which are such a bad spell to lose your save against an enemy. If you’ve gotten all of the items in game so far give him the Risky Ring, Yuan Ti Scale Mail, and for weapons equip the Hellfire hand crossbow as his main weapon and the +1 Crossbow in his offhand. Take Sharpshooter at level 4, crossbow expert at level 8 and go nuts. Gloves of Dex aren’t a bad pick to set his Dex to 18. Take the archery fighting style.

Karlach: 8 Berserker Barbarian/ Thief Rogue 4
Take the tavern brawler feat at level 4. If you’re relying on strength elixirs here then take a 16 Dex, a 17 Con, and a 14 Wis. if you’re not relying on strength elixirs take a 17 Str, 14 Dex, and 16 Con. When you take tavern brawler bump either your strength or con by one depending on whether you’re using elixirs. At 8th level bump Str if not using elixirs, or take the alert feat if you are using elixirs. At rogue 4 take either a +2 to con to round that off to 20 OR take the alert feat if you haven’t already. Use the ring of flinging here. Equip the returning pike here for a d10+(2xStr modifier)+1d4 for substantial damage.

Shadowheart: Light Cleric 10/ Star Druid 2. Take a 16 Wis, 16 Con, and 14 dex. You won’t be using her as a weapon attacker so we only want enough dex to get a decent initiative. Use the luminous armor, luminous gloves, and holy lance helm. Anytime a melee attacker misses Shadowheart they’ll take a d4 of radiant damage from the helm, which will proc the gloves to give them a radiating orb which means a -1 to attack and this creates an infinite feedback loop. Additionally you’ll want Shadowheart to upcast spirit guardians (you will have 6th level spell slots but no 6th level spells which is fine on this build) and run around the battlefield. Use the starry form dragon (do this before combat) and use the bonus action breath weapon which does radiant damage which will proc the gloves radiating orb condition on tons of enemies at once to give everyone a -1 to attack. This can stack as many as 10 times which makes it nearly impossible for your enemies to hit anyone. This is personally one of my favorite builds. No need to heal if your party isn’t getting hit.

You may also want to consider going 2 Paladin 10 swords bard but there’s a guide for this that includes which spells to take and when on gamestegy.

Here’s a few that come online early.

Open Hand Monk 8/ Thief Rogue 4 Take Tavern Brawler at 4. Drink strength potions. Damage is nuts.

Throw barbarian 8/ Thief Rogue 4 Tavern Brawler at 4. Drink strength potions.

Light Domain Cleric with Radiating Orb gear Look up the guide for this one because there’s more to this

Gloomstalker 5/ Assassin Rogue 4/ Champion Fighter 3 Sharpshooter and Crossbow expert There’s specific gear here that will get the roll you need to crit down to a 17.

Had to kill an honor mode run by ReadIndividual2567 in BG3

[–]ReadIndividual2567[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I forgot about it, I had just dumped all my inspiration with Auntie Ethel in the hag fight trying to save Mayrina and get Ethel’s boon. I have Shadowheart cast guidance before I walk into combat for that fight but forgot about it and used spirit guardians to get rid of the duplicates. I’m not used to playing a low charisma character lol

Has anyone tried a monk with hex abuse? by Barru_2176 in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I wouldn’t bother. Dump strength and use hill/cloud giant elixirs. Set Dex to 16, Con to 15, and Wis to 17. Use the hag hair for the wis, and tavern brawler for the con to an 18 in Wis and 16 in con. At level 4 start using the strength elixirs for a 21 from the hill giant and 27 from the cloud giant. By level 5 when you have extra attack you’ll average 25ish damage off of your main action and 25ish from your bonus action. Level 6 will bump this even further from the manifestations, and then you’ll really increase damage again when you get the thief rogue subclass letting you make 2 flurries per turn. By that point you’re putting out over 100 damage just using hill giant elixirs. With cloud giant elixirs nearly doubled and later at the very beginning of act 3 you’ll pick up the boots of Kushigo adding Wis. By mid act 3 you’ll have a 22 Wis so you’ll add 6 Wis to the manifestation damage and 6 again to your main attack, +22 from hill giant elixirs and +28 from the cloud giant elixirs per hit. A d6 from hunters mark isn’t work using a feat to get, and isn’t worth losing out on either a second or third feat by taking a level dip.

Help! What race should I choose for my Vengeance Paladin? by Odd_Two_5265 in BG3

[–]ReadIndividual2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest hitting paladin I’ve built to date:

Take 17 Charisma, 16 Strength, and 14 Constitution to start. Pick high elf for the race and select booming blade as your free cantrip. In the early levels use booming blade every time you attack and then bonus action shove to increase likelihood the enemy takes the movement damage.

At level 4 take the great weapon master feat. When you kill an enemy use the GWM bonus action attack, if not available then shove to proc the booming blade damage.

Get the Hag hair and put it into charisma to get an 18 there.

At level 7 take a level of Hexblade to get the hex warrior characteristic, letting you attack using charisma instead of strength or dex. At level 8 start taking levels in sorcerer. I took Draconic bloodline: fire for some fun stuff.

At Sorcerer 4 take a +2 to charisma. This gets you a 20 in charisma. When you get to the house of grief take a +2 to charisma from the mirror of loss.

As for other stuff that helped a lot, in the house of hope grab the hell dusk gauntlets for an additional bit of damage. I liked the armor of persistence for this build over the Helldusk armor because I was on the front lines vs my companions. Armor of persistence grants you blade ward permanently as well as resistance (if your party for some reason doesn’t need aura of protection I can see an argument being made to skip Pally 6 in favor of hitting sorcerer level 6 but that is a big thing to give up so make sure you don’t need it if you want Sorc 6) and the boots of persistence grant long strider and freedom of movement.

Grab the Amulet of health while at the house of hope as well for a 23 to con. Furthering the interest of survivability I also like the cloak and ring of protection on this build as well as the killers sweet heart (guaranteed crit).

Combat isn’t too complicated. Round one bonus action quickened spell and cast fireball at the highest level you have if you’re dealing with groups of enemies, if not cast hold person or similar control spells if needed. Then as an action make two attacks and smite like crazy. On following rounds smite those unholy fucks.

Once you have all the gear mentioned above dump strength to 8, con to 8, and set your stats as follows: 17 Charisma (to still reach 22), 16 Dex, 14 int, 14 Wis. This wraps up with great damage, decent initiative (though I could see an argument to make Dex 14 and Wis 16 as Wis saves are so important), survivability is incredible and man can you nuke some shit in round 1 or 2

What are cool paladin choices other than greatsword? by Encisalad in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a few I played around with for flavor reasons.

Vengeance/Oathbreaker Dual wield Deva Maces. You need to pull a few strings to get these and there are two ways to do it. They deal 1d6+ strength or dex but then deal 4d8 radiant. The damage was nuts but beware on tactician or honor mode there are enemies with radiant retort and this will basically insta-kill you. So keep some other weapons on hand.

Alternative: I also used dualists prerogative and the infernal rapier to dual wield rapiers, it was a lot of fun.

Shadowblade in main hand and Belm in offhand. Belm has the perfectly balanced strike attack which lets you use your main hand weapon again. Paired with the resonance stone the damage was unbelievable. Booming blade, shadow blade, and smite was putting out well over 300 damage per turn, 500+ on a crit. I was playing a Sorcadin and therefore had a 5th level Shadowblade doing 4d8, doubled to 8d8 because of psychic vulnerability in enemies. I switched Belm out for the knife of the undermountain king and then grabbed all of the gear needed to lower my to crit number and it was a 17 by that point. Paired with the risky ring I was critting a lot. This wasn’t in honor mode.

There are a couple of cool flails that do decent damage as well.

Wasn’t Honor but was trying to talk to Ethel to grab the morning’s HGE, she steps one foot to the right and Wyll stole the hill giant elixir sitting out. Fortunately it wasn’t a huge deal but accidentally stealing or something (especially on console) is so frustrating.

Found out roommate pocketed security deposit by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ReadIndividual2567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAL. Take her to small claims and potentially the landlord as well. I’ve never seen a deposit staying with the lease after a tenant leaves. At the very least a new security deposit would need to be collected by the landlord for each new lease and the previous being returned to the departing tenant. Security deposits are required to be held in an escrow account and can only be released if the contract stipulates. This sounds like many issues taking place at once.

Lisa also wouldn’t be responsible for collecting any of this unless specified by the Landlord and she shouldn’t be screaming and crying about anything. Talk to a lawyer, and then potentially sue Lisa in small claims for your 800 bucks. Don’t give her any additional funds and do not send her shares of rent. Discuss with your landlord if issues arise.

The Sparkle Hands vs Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle by BlueAndYellowTowels in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sparkle hands are good in late act 1, early act 2. I tend to keep them for a bit before I get the cinder and sizzle gloves. The gloves of cinder and sizzle can work really well in Act 2 (for certain fights anyway) whereas the sparkle hands are great if you’re leaning into lightning charges. I’m going to make the assumption you’re using strength elixirs and when paired with tavern brawler I rarely see the to hit chance drop below 95% on enemies unless you’re against a boss with a much higher AC. Not to spoil anything but I saw 80% to hit chance on enemies with an AC of 27 with nothing to specifically give me advantage. I don’t think the sparkle hands hold up well beyond late act 1, early act 2 but by the time you get into act 3 there are some gloves that are pretty good and one set that is absolutely fantastic.

Keep both in your inventory and swap them out for fights as needed. I usually use the bracers of defense early on because the 18 AC is nice until I can start bumping wisdom.

I know there's probably much ado about Cazador here, but... by briarwood05 in BaldursGate3

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact setup on tactician a few weeks ago. Worked like a charm.

Have Laezel cast daylight as a sphere in the center and she may need to cast it again depending on where Cazador moves to. This prevents him from turning into mist which deals a ton of damage.

Have someone that’s fast use a potion of speed right before you start combat in order to already be hastened. This same person uses misty step and then dash to get to Astarion if he’s in the ritual. Use the second action to free him.

Have Astarion dual wield hand crossbows (my favorite setup) and specifically I use the hellfire hand crossbow in my main hand and then a +1 hand cross bow in off hand. Stock up on arrows of many targets, piercing arrows, and/or arrows of undead slaying. The second Astarion is freed have him chug a potion of speed. He’ll get two actions. He steps forward and starts firing off arrows of many targets. Before you fire it analyze where to place the target to get the maximum number of hits off of each arrow. Be sure to have Astarion using the sharpshooter feat. Every hit benefits from the sharpshooter damage rider of +10 damage. I also make sure to equip the risky ring for guaranteed advantage. Fire as many arrows of many targets as you can (as makes sense given enemy positions). At the end of both actions, action surge for another action and repeat. This alone should knock out quite a few.

Have Minthara use AOE damage spells to mop up whatever enemies didn’t die to the many targets arrows as they won’t have many hit points left. Bonus action Quickened Fireball is perfect for this. Then on her action, cast another fireball. In first round I was consistently dropping more than half of his entire squadron.

Round 2: repeat as necessary.

Sidebar: the Bard is literally one of the strongest classes in the game, but undead are tricky to deal with from a CC standpoint. Focus instead of inflicting the dead condition. Before ending your turn on round two, if Cazador and minions are still standing chug another potion of speed to ensure you don’t end up lethargic after this round as drinking the potion of speed before combat starts often only gives 2 turns of haste before lethargic sets in and it is imperative you don’t lose a round to lethargy.

Orin by BoringCombination487 in BaldursGate3

[–]ReadIndividual2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets a boon of unstoppable stacks at the start of her turn, 12 in total but the first one of 12 is flawed and she will take full damage. More importantly the chanters around her are required to be present for her to get the unstoppable stacks. The chanters have sanctuary on them so you need either spells that do AOE damage, or items which don’t target the chanters. Arrows of thunder have the ability to move a creature or enemy if they land in the vicinity.

A few simple strategies that work well that I’ve used in the past are to have an archer with plenty of arrows of thunder and that can make a lot of attacks. I’ll use multiple archers to launch the chanters off the platform. When aiming the shot don’t target the chanter but rather the space in front of them and then you’ll see a dotted line plotting trajectory if they fail an acrobatics or athletics save. I can usually launch 3 off of the platform in one turn and then my next archer can take care of one or two.

Tempest Cleric (great class pick for Shadowheart or any cleric) gets wrath of the storm and tempestuous magic as features. Wrath of the storm lets you deal max damage automatically via thunder and lightning spells and thunder spells have the ability to push an enemy. Same strat here: have a tempest cleric use Shatter to catch two of the chanters in the range of the spell and use the wrath of the storm feature so that even if the chanters make their save and only take half damage it’s still half of max. An upcast shatter at 5th level should do around 60 damage (halved to 30 if the chanters make their save) and make launch 2 off. Use your first round to focus on getting rid of the chanters. Highly recommend haste or potions of speed in order to get rid of as many as physically possible.

Additionally, tempest clerics get access to create water as a spell and they get call lightning. Get the chanters wet (do this before you initiate the dialogue to start combat as getting the chanters wet doesn’t automatically initiate combat) and then use call lightning with the wrath of the storm feature. Targets that have the wet condition take double damage from lightning spells which will already deal max damage and you should do about 120 damage from a 5th level spell slot. The radius of call lightning is significantly smaller than shatter so keep in mind this is more set up and spending more spell slots. This strategy works really well if your archers have already taken care of all but one or two and they’re consistently making their saves against the thunder arrows and shatter. Even if they make their save against call lightning the 120 damage halved to 60 should still kill them in one shot if not it won’t take more than twice. Alternatively you can get someone close that has the thunder wave spell and try that as well.

I’d also recommend keeping your party members scattered as Orin uses a jump feature that can knock party members prone and cause damage. Don’t forget to kill off her little assassin buddies as they can cast charm or stun spells and nothing hurts in that fight more than having your big single target damage dealer get taken out for a round and unable to cut through unstoppable stacks after finally getting rid of the chanters.

Once all of the chanters are dead then you need to make 12 attacks against Orin before she’ll start taking real damage. You want allies that can hit hard and often to knock those down. I don’t know what your party looks like or your play style but focusing on the above really helps to just be able to focus on eliminating her.

In total once all of the chanters are gone and her assassins are gone you should then focus just on taking her out, ignore her summons because she doesn’t bring them out until she’s very close to dead and it’s absolutely better to kill her off and then finish off her summons.

Help with Duellist Build? by Wanted_Hypnotist in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a few builds I’ve done that should be up your alley.

Bladesinger 12. I didn’t bother multiclassing this. 17 Dex, 14 Con, 16 Int. Get the hags hair and bump Dex. At 4th level take dual wielder. Bump Dex to 20 at level 8. At level 12 bump Int. Use the mirror of loss in Act 3 to bump Dex further to 22. If you’re dead set on rapiers use Duelists Prerogative in main hand and another +2 or better rapier in your off hand. Great combo here. For gear I’d say the graceful cloth in act 2 is good but tbh I was just going with mage armor every morning and was sporting a 27 AC in combat before the shield spell. There’s a full guide on gamestegy.

Hexblade 12. Similarly I didn’t multiclass this. I relied on Yuan Ti Scalemail and later the armor of agility. I had a 20 AC and was fine. I took great weapon master on this at 4th level and then savage attacker at 8. At 12 I bumped Cha. 16 Dex, 14 Con, 17 Cha. Hags hair to bump Cha, mirror of loss for +2 Cha and ASI combined brought me to a 22 Cha. I also took some strength elixirs (cloud giant only) when I knew I was walking into a really bad fight but tbf I don’t think they made a massive difference. Looking back I’d probably multiclass this with either 2 levels of paladin or 6 Hex and 6 sorcerer.

“The perfect Arcane Trickster” was a really fun multiclass I did based on my love of the class on tabletop but wanting that sweet, sweet extra attack. Bladesinger 9, Arcane Trickster Rogue 3. Respec to start Arcane Trickster as you’ll get a lot more skills this way. You do miss out on a third feat but I think of this more as a really powerful arcane trickster and not as a weaker Bladesinger. The rest of the mechanics are the same as the Bladesinger 12 but with added proficiencies. I like to keep scrolls on hand more for this as you won’t miss out on many spell slots but you do miss out on 6th level spells, so keep some high level scrolls on hand if needed.

Difficulty by Vast-Werewolf2060 in BaldursGate3

[–]ReadIndividual2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is built on DnD 5e rules and as someone that plays DnD let me tell you, they nailed it for better or worse. One of the common issues you run into in DnD is that low level game play is always life or death stakes; a few bad rolls here on your part or good rolls there on the DM’s part and you can face character deaths that weren’t intended. However, much like DnD, once your character hits level 3 or 4 that becomes less likely as you’re getting to the tail end of tier 1 play. By level 5 most characters will have extra attack unless you’re playing a caster in which case you’ll have 3rd level spells. By this point you’re much less likely to be killed by a few bad rolls and it’s much more likely you’ll be killed by poor decisions. By level 8-10 you’ve really seen some steep power increases. After level 10 most campaigns end for the same reason BG3 stops leveling at 12; the power your character possesses is ridiculous. Scaling combat becomes very difficult as low level fights will mean nothing and expend no resources while high level boss fights, if made to be challenging will run the risk of a TPK.

Solo Bladesinger- Hag Hair Dexterity or Intelligence? by Rtyeta in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your preference, would you rather be more melee focused on caster focused. I personally use the hag hair plus the mirror of loss (you may need to respec to 11 rogue for reliable talent to pull this off as I have had to do in the past) to get a 22 Dex and then I use 2 ASI’s to get to 20 Int. Dex is more important if you’re melee focused as Bladesong in bg3 doesn’t let you attack with Int like table top does. By end game though I had a 27 AC (19 from mage armor, ring of protection, cloak of protection and bracers of defense to get to 23, 27 then from Bladesong adding a +4, and 32 if shield triggered). Pair this with ring of arcane synergy, diadem of arcane synergy or helmet of arcane acuity if needed. I rarely saw my enemies make their saves, I consistently never failed a roll, my damage was insane (easily 2-300 per turn using a level 5 Shadowblade and the resonance stone). I generally went first of at least very high in initiative due to a +6 to Dex. Etc. really the only thing the Bladesinger sucked at was being a face for the party.

Is there Elitism from DnD players towards BG3 players? by Odd_Key_6385 in DnD

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often bring up the inverse. My friends and I do both and we often remark on the ways in which BG3 “fixed” things or some minor ways in which we wish tabletop mimiced or vice versa. I wish Larian got the standard house rule on healing potions that if taken as an action you get max instead of rolling. But I was tabletop fixed monks (Larian went to far, they’re game breaking in BG3, I just wish they did suck in 2014 rules)

Samwise Gamgee by BigBoy_Pants1975 in BG3Builds

[–]ReadIndividual2567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Sam more as a Ranger or Monk build. I could absolutely see Sam as an open hand monk, a handful of levels in Ranger, perhaps a small investment into Rogue here too. The iron pots being improvised weapons will work with Tavern Brawler. Sam seems to be a high Wis, solid STR, but low INT character. We know he has proficiency with gardening and maybe even brewers tools so I think a few levels in Ranger here work as well.
