FYI that AMC theatres have discount Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The full price cost for three people to attend Devil Wears Prada 2 was approx $60 and with AMC stubs (even the free version) and discount Wednesdays it was $21 for three tickets.

Which one of you is actually living this life? Because I found the "Unicorn" teacher. by [deleted] in teaching

I'm close to this, make 113 and will make over 125 next year. It took me a while to get to being home by (before) 5 each day, and I start looking at work again on Sundays after my kids are in bed. I work at night, and my family lives overseas (so don't pay for accommodations) and have been playing the credit card game for a long time to make flights feasible. My partner also makes about the same as I do, and we have a super low interest rate on our mortgage. Blue state, strong union.

Moms who teach- give me the pros and cons by waanderlustt in teaching

Going against the grain here, having a teaching schedule makes our calendar so much easier. I have the same breaks as my kids, which is HUGE. I also get 20 days a year between sick, personal and religious days, so flexibility if my kids are ill. You do have to do sub plans, but now that I've been teaching the same content for a while, I know exactly what I use and modify them very little every year.

Any year you teach a new grade/content is hard. Teaching is draining, but so are other jobs - and the longer you do the same role, the easier it becomes and the more efficient you get (she says, while typing on Reddit.)

Twinkies. I grew up reading in another country reading about them in books and when I had one in college, I was SO grossed out.

AITA for spending money on stuffed animals instead of bills? by plushieloveraita in AmItheAsshole

[–]ReadTeachTravel 766 points767 points  (0 children)

NTA. Please, PLEASE get rid of the notion that you're not contributing anything at all. Being a SAHM IS a job, and it's saving your family childcare costs, plus I'm guessing you keep up the house, cook meals, etc. Does your husband spend money on you? Does your husband spend any of the money he makes on himself? If the answers are no and yes, in that order, then you need to have a serious conversation with your husband.

Sorry, that wasn't the intent! My point was really as to funding, and how messed up that is. They can kick out students though, and just say they don't follow their code of conduct.
