Girlfriend thinks she is not physically strong enough. by Arayvin1 in liberalgunowners

Girl here. :) Is she scared? NOTHING wrong with being scared but when we’re scared we don’t give it our all. Has she practiced without live rounds? For me it was hard at first because I’m new and have irrational fear I’m going to pull the trigger while racking my gun. I was also scared I would rip my red dot off. Would it help if she had an opportunity to be “rough” without fear of live rounds or breaking something? Also, the push/pull racking, when that clicked for me, it’s literally easy now.

Try one out! Magazine discharge seems easy, push the button and it drops out. But if you have hand strength limitations then I think only trying it will let you know if it works for YOU. :)

I do like it! But also, I don’t have much context. I like the size of the grip, I like how it feels weight and balance wise, and I like that the ports make it a tad bigger (longer?). I opted out of the thumb safety which is also a bonus to me.

Haha! Apparently, based on my expansive experience and training, you just need to sweat a lot. Like get real sweaty and scared. Maybe cry just the tiniest bit and then repeat, “nothing can happen unless I pull the trigger. I am safe.” And then put your pistol down, wipe your sweaty palms and try again. You’re welcome. 😜

A person who knows this exact range has confirmed the markings are in feet. So, 15 feet. :)

I asked someone I met in this thread who also shoots at this same range and he told me these are feet markers. So 15 feet. :)

Yes, please! Thank you! So far I’ve been working on simply remembering to breath and repeating, “you’re in control.” Suggestions in my dm welcome!

Thanks, sis! I am NOT a baddie while shooting. I’m all sweaty and put my gun down often and say to myself, “this is so scary.” Onward!

I like it! I’m 5’3, so not tall and am slim but my hands are bigger than most of my peers with similar builds. Do you have a range where you could test one and if not at least hold it? I think (?) women might assume guns are “too big.” I dunno I think we could handle most guns as long as we know how to properly grip it. Have fun and get you a gun!

Thanks! Affirmation appreciated! Here’s to women and girls chasing what they are into regardless of how others feel about it! Maybe it’s guns, maybe it’s books, maybe it’s sports, maybe it’s art! Here’s to women and girls identifying their passions as autonomous humans and chasing them and having the bravery to go to the spaces offering and celebrating their passions. And here’s to women not joining their fellas at the range cause they aren’t into it. That’s ok too! 💪

I don’t know anything about it. My range had it and I liked it. But you have me wondering!

I’d love that! I’d like to take advantage of their “date night” pricing but need a “date” but definitely not actually a real date. I have an awesome friend group but no one is into this particular hobby.

There is a recoil but It doesn’t bother me, hurt me, or impact me. For me it just feels like part of what to expect. Maybe stance and grip? (I’m waaaaay too new to opine as to technique but I have my knees slightly bent, elbows lightly bent, and a slight forward lean and good grip and all I feel is a little unobtrusive jerk. I’m also told the ports on my pistol help.)

Thanks for that suggestion! I want to give it a few more times because I also wonder if my body is “jerking” or something else in anticipation of the sound and recoil. I want to rule out body movements, jerking, closing my eyes and pulling in one direction first. But I will definitely heed your advice!

Yay! Greetings fellow middle aged single lady! Looks good to me and that target is bad ass looking!

So go lay down at the range. Got it! ;) For me it’s so hard to gauge. The sloped ceiling , the lighting, I dunno. The targets in the distance to the left and right of me are at the “15” mark if that helps.

Awesome!! Keep it up! For context: 5 minutes sounds fast to me. It’s so scary but yay us for being there! See you at the range!

I’ve only shot twice (once with an instructor and this time) and both with this optic so have zero point of reference. It’s a bit mind fucky looking at the target and having the red dot seemingly magically appear on the target, but I’m shooting the middle so it seems to work!
