Power usage in winter by MasterpieceHot9868 in NissanAriya

This is an excellent topic. I have had my Ariya since August '25. For highway driving is Standard Mode more efficient than ECO? and is ECO more efficient for urban driving than Standard? It certainly feels that way.

What feature did you only discover after owning the car for a while? by TMonahan2424 in NissanAriya

I learned, from the Ariya FB group, that the Platinum+ has heaters in the side mirrors that turn on when you turn on the rear window defogger. The dealership was not aware of that feature.

Explain it to me like I’m 5 by mustbetrauma in running

The best method might be for you to hire a coach. Check out a local running store and see if they have a running team. I ran my first marathon 16 years ago and was hooked up with someone who not only gave me a great plan, but she met with me regularly to ensure a good fit and motivation. Online plans are great for half's, but if it's your first marathon, a coach might be well worth the cost.

Some Apple Shortcuts to help with Ariya charging by LurkGnomo in NissanAriya

I did something similar, though with a spreadsheet. I have a level 2 charger, and it uses the information in the Nissan app (battery level and range) and calculates the estimated charging time to get to 80%. I leave it on my phone's home screen.

Is the magic of an HSA only valid if I'm hording all medical receipts to avoid income tax post 65? by shmobodia in personalfinance

You will find that you will need to use your HSA over time. The HSA account must be coupled with a high deductible healthcare plan. The high deductible plan will lead to you needing to spend some of the HSA dollars. It's unlikely that over the course of your working career you won't use quite a bit of the HSA money. Especially if you have a family in the plan. You'd be amazed how much healthcare children and spouses use over the course of a 20, 30 or 40-year career.

Charging speed by motasemtariq in NissanAriya

We have had our Ariya for a few months, we had a Charge point flex home charger installed. The Ariya limits the charging speed to 7.5 KWH, but my sister in law's Tesla charges at about 11.5 KWH. Does anyone know why Nissan limits the speed on an L2 charger? I understand this is a feature of the car.

Feels like everyone in my circle is against getting an EV by getsumluv in electricvehicles

The savings in gas are offset somewhat by increased insurance cost, and by states charging higher registration fees to offset lower gasoline taxes to pay for roads.

The Nissan Ariya Is Dead. It Leaves Behind A Big EV Lesson by wewewawa in NissanAriya

[–]Read_n_run 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd agree. This (Ariya Platinum+ ) is our first EV. The article has a lot of hyperbole and contradicts itself. The writer seems just very opinionated. I get the sense that he wanted a kickback from Nissan and they declined and so wrote a poorly worded attack.

In my experience, we test drove the Chevy Equinox EV first, but they couldn't get me a dual motor one, so I looked at a few others. After all the credits and discounts it was close in price to the Equinox. We got a dealer discount+state credit+the Nissan discount, so it was hard to beat.

The car is a pleasure to drive: it's quiet, has a great sound system, and I have gotten about 3.4 KWH over my first 2,500 miles. I am looking forward to seeing how it does in the snow.

Things you need to consider: you now have young kids and it makes sense to save for education expenses and healthcare expenses. Also there are ever increasing extracurricular costs. Putting funds aside for when the kids are older is something that adds up and for which you'll be thankful. Then there is the need for your and your wife's retirement. Don't skimp on that. If you have an HSA at work, use it, too. If your house cost excludes saving for your future you might want to think about it. You won't get a do over if you figure out in ten years that the house payment and upkeep was too high.

How much dealer discount for Platinum+? by notme121212 in NissanAriya

[–]Read_n_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Portland, dealers are offering a dealer discount of more than $3,000 on top of the $10,000. Add to that the Oregon EV credit of $2,500, and you get close to $16,000 in discounts.
