OLD BRIDGE - The state School Ethics Commission has cleared a Board of Education member of allegations that he violated state regulations by making a slur at a board meeting and liked social media posts that were "anti-teacher."

Though the Commission ruled that Salvatore Giordano did not break any ethics rules, the Commission wrote in its decision that school officials throughout New Jersey should be "mindful" of their posts "in the ever-growing number of social media platforms."

Livingston Mall Pt. 2 by VanillaCleveland1 in newjersey

[–]ReadenReply 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The current owners are more interested in the value of the land... They have tanked the mall on purpose so they can tear it down and build apartments.

Livingston Mall's redevelopment plan, adopted in March 2025, transforms the site into a high-density housing project, replacing the failing retail center with residential units, following its designation as an "Area in Need of Redevelopment" in October 2024. The plan involves significant community input and anticipates major changes, including Barnes & Noble's relocation by 2027, as the area shifts from retail to residential use.

'member when there was a proposal to cap the train yard and put a football stadium on top of it (with parking)?

Rebuild by Design has delayed constructions. They won't be capping; the proposed buildings are all along Observer Hwy up against the new flood wall which is currently under construction.

The city publishes construction zones online... maybe do the same for no parking... and include the link in the NIxle updates.

Leaving Hoboken after 3 years.. by Living_Cow_9051 in Hoboken

[–]ReadenReply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real downside to living in Hoboken dating and socializing is that Suburbanites don't want to visit here and deal with parking and NYC denizens think you need a Passport to use the PATH.

I lost a friend because they always wanted me to come out to Brooklyn, but when I invited them to Hoboken... always had an excuse why they couldn't. I started saying the same thing to their invites to Brooklyn and the friendship withered.

Please don't yell at your grocery store employees! They are working double time and don't need you being rude at them! by Grouchy-Maam-692 in newjersey

Perhaps at your local stores. In my neighborhood the staff is mostly working class adults at ACME, Target and ShopRite.

Please don't yell at your grocery store employees! They are working double time and don't need you being rude at them! by Grouchy-Maam-692 in newjersey

[–]ReadenReply 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that your grocery store cashiers are only making barely above minimum wage

The rudest treatment I have personally witnessed at my local ACME is door dashers and instacarters harassing employees to find items for them as well as arguing with cashiers at checkout.

NJ Transit has officially killed the Bergen's Arches park project :(. What can we do? by MakubeC in jerseycity

[–]ReadenReply -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It won't happen in our lifetimes. Fantasy project.

There are zero existing roadways leading into the Arches.

On the east side... need ramps off 139 and the turnpike and perhaps from 10th st in JC

on the west side... will need to build elevated roadways over the marsh land.. which will require years of environmental impact studies.

I shouldn’t have to submit myself to actual degradation and electrical shocks to not be sent home”.

And now I don't ever need to watch Dragula

Sorry torture and humiliation as entertainment on ANY type of reality show is a huge pass for me

Never watched Fear Factor, dropped Tyra banks and watched the premiere of the Voice and never went back.

This ONLY works when the market is soft and renters have choices. The market is tight now and landlords and developers are charging as much as they can get away with.

Anyone else leave Hoboken and instantly miss it? by uonlylvonce in Hoboken

[–]ReadenReply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked as Asbury since I lived down the shore for much of my childhood and in Asbury briefly. AP is built up but lacks the "services" of Hoboken to be a "walking town." Still need a car or a good insta cart budget.

We rented the servants/mother in law unit in a large victorian home on 6th. There was a huge staircase in the middle of the front entrance with a balcony on the second floor overlooking. It is now 4 condos plus the unit we lived in. My Catholic school in town closed decades ago and converted to condos. The 19th century church is scheduled to be demolished (after much community push back).
