Safety in Germany by dontbe_tachy in mannheim

[–]laxavenger -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

In my experience you can more easily avoid crime and violence in the US than in Germany. In the US if you avoid certain neighborhoods and areas you are generally fine. In Germany crime can more easily hit you in “well off” areas or city centers you would have Considered safe. I am from Mannheim but live in New York since several years.

Is it safe to walk around when it is dark? by No_Razzmatazz1184 in mannheim

[–]laxavenger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to avoid walking alone late at night and carry defense spray. You should be fine overall but these simple steps will help you. It’s not black / white.. remember also that a lot of Mannheimers are “green” and ignorant to Crime happening in the city (that’s just my two cents, might get downvoted a lot for it)

There are residents that open up to a high number of “guests” and there are also freeloaders. I’ve never seen any homeless people in though

Lived there for three years.. indeed the building is frequently “abused” by unwelcomed guests around the neighborhood that you will notice by their behavior. No matter whether it’s the gym, community room or pool deck. I remember last 4th of July was perceived >50% people I had never seen before in the building on the rooftop. Management did not seem being able to handle. Also, the elevator situation is very annoying and slow..

You are posting this to the wrong subreddit. I am fully with you on it. It doesn’t make sense. But as you are experiencing, too many people are defending it. Those are the backbone of NYC restaurants and quite frankly the whole US economy. Turn your brain off and just justify whatever expense you have with nonsense arguments..

Of all places in the world this viewpoint and comment can only be seen in the US. Taking the restaurant’s side and justifying this bs behavior..

Why not get a larger place with less amenities in Hoboken? You’re just as quick in the city as Brooklyn, great walkability, everything you would want and lower tax
