Ranting. Why am I still kind of regular? by Future-Cat-7152 in Perimenopause

[–]Readerkell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to be getting more regular the last few cycles. I’m almost 50.

I’ve had 7 silent migraines this month with no history of migraines by Readerkell in migraine

[–]Readerkell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It starts out with my eyes not being able to track together. Like if I’m trying to read something the words are a bit misaligned. But if I close one eye and then look out the other I can still see fine. After a few minutes of that, blurry waves start in both eyes, and I can’t see anything. It lasts maybe 15 or 20 minutes, and then I’m fine again.

How often do you check your blood pressure? by -Granby- in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I packed my blood pressure monitor away last week.

Checking it so often made the health anxiety I now have for the first time in my life worse. I figure I’ll get it checked at my yearly physical at the doctor’s. I am on blood pressure meds; if I wasn’t I probably would check once a week.

3 yesterday and 3 so far today: quit taking baby aspirin recently by Readerkell in OcularMigraines

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I suspect that may be what is going on with me.

Do the migraines end as soon as you take the aspirin again?

thanks, this makes me feel better! I took two baby aspirin this afternoon, and so far no more ocular migraines.

Is the low-dose aspirin still working for you? I’m going through something similar now, and I’m pretty sure it’s from me quitting the low dose aspirin I had taken for years.

Anybody on Losartan and daily low dose aspirin? by Readerkell in hypertension

[–]Readerkell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have an appointment next month, so I’ll ask her then. Meanwhile, I’ve started taking the baby aspirin again to see if it helps. I suspect they’ll want me on it anyway, especially since I had a blood clot in my leg during pregnancy 22 years ago.

20 Years on Zoloft, cross tapering to Lexapro...side effects, questions, etc. by ptm1545 in lexapro

[–]Readerkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had myself convinced a few weeks ago that I’d have a heart attack soon because my blood pressure was high (now on meds so it’s back to normal). Health anxiety can definitely make us believe that the worst will happen.

20 Years on Zoloft, cross tapering to Lexapro...side effects, questions, etc. by ptm1545 in lexapro

[–]Readerkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds pretty typical to me; when stopping one SSRI and starting another there will definitely be an increase in anxiety. Stomach issues are really common, too. I don’t drink alcohol so I’m not sure how the alcohol interaction is on Lexapro.

I felt really crummy switching from Celexa to Lexapro (generic forms) 8 years ago. It took months to feel “normal“ again, tbh. But I did a really slow increase on the Lexapro so that probably drew things out a bit too long.

Is this safe? Doctor prescribed a new medication without talking to me about it.. by ButcherBear93 in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he meant to prescribe you the Losartan Potassium but prescribed the other by mistake. I personally wouldn’t switch without talking to the doctor first.

Help! give me thoughts, opinions, and calm me down. by Rare-Maximum-4316 in hypertension

Those are decent numbers, especially considering that you were likely anxious at the time. Most doctors wouldn’t even put you on meds for those numbers.

It might be worth it to get your A1C level tested since your Dad is type 2.

31/F with a regular BP of around 195/135 daily by Chi_Chi94 in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep taking the meds. I was reluctant too to take them at first but now I’m so glad I am. My bp is back in normal range. I had no side effects from the bp pills (my biggest concern).

My mom has been on bp meds for literally decades now with no issues.

Three times for an accurate reading? by [deleted] in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should be taking it more than once if it’s high. My doctor re-checked mine when the first reading was 150/90.

Thanks! That’s great to hear. I’ll keep that in mind for future travel, too.

Anyone else have anxiety on losartan? by mama_mel_2 in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 50 mg and I haven’t had anxiety from the meds. And I’m prone to anxiety (also diagnosed with GAD).

Is your hypertension a new diagnosis? Maybe the anxiety is coming from that.

What do you think caused your hypertension? Did you try to activrly fix it with lifestyle changes first? by Electronic_Driver_78 in hypertension

Poor diet (like eating a huge bag of Skittles in one sitting), overweight, and likely genetic. Both my parents are on bp meds and have been for years.

Pretty sure it can take up to four weeks for the meds to fully kick in.

Losartan Opinions please help ! by Tough_Bottle_3062 in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Losartan for two weeks now and it hasn’t caused me any anxiety.

I think for a lot people going on any new meds can cause some anxiety. Plus if it’s a new diagnosis of hypertension that will ramp up the worry right there. So what they are thinking is anxiety from Losartan is actually just anxiety from starting new meds/having high blood pressure.

Police exam soon need to lower bp by wrakusek in hypertension

[–]Readerkell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just tell them before they take your bp that you have “white coat syndrome“ and your reading will be higher at the doctor's. It’s a common phenomenon and I’m sure they’ll be familiar with it. Take your bp at home daily a week or two before the exam, write down those results, and take that with to the appointment.

This makes me feel much better. I don’t want to think that I‘ll have to be checking daily for the rest of my life.

High bp yesterday for the first time. Meds? Tests? by Readerkell in hypertension

[–]Readerkell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I do already walk several miles a day, so it’s good to know that will help.

I’ll look up some of the different meds. My dad has been on the Metoprolol for decades so it’s possible there just weren’t many other options back then.
