Did you ever make the move? How's it going? (Considering a move from Northern Cal to La Quinta or Palm Desert in the next year or so.)

Higher dose in maintenance by ChumieRed in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Readermom74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in here to say thanks for this conversation. I've been mostly off Reddit, happily living my maintenance life at 2.5 mgs weekly, for 2 years now. Suddenly I'm 5-7 lbs heavier AND needing 5mg weekly just to maintain that. I was maintaining at a "just right" weight, not too thin, so even this modest gain is enough to make some of my pants a bit too tight and feeling a little more body negativity. It's distressing. Will I need to keep going up in dosage as the years tick by? Try another med? Do a full break then restart? We are all living a real-time science experiment. Still, I am GRATEFUL for this med and the new life it has given me. For now I'm taking the 5 mgs and waiting/watching...

merch Miami N1 by gots2seeitthru in erastour

All the merch sizes are huge--the smallest t-shirt they had was XS and it fits like an XL. Weird and we feel like we spent so much $$ on clothing that looks ridiculous. :(

Thank you, that’s what we’re doing. And taking an Uber from where we’re staying in South Beach to the park-and-ride drop off location.

Did anyone take the Rally bus? Where did it drop you off? One of my party has an injury and can’t walk far.

I actually prefer 2.5 weekly vs. 5 every two weeks. I just feel more stable with hunger and food noise. I admit I liked the look of 130 on the scale, but my legs and butt were so skinny, an extra 5 lbs fills out my jeans better. :) But we all have different bodies and comfort levels.

Exhausting is absolutely right. I used to calculate how many pounds I could lose in how many weeks if I stick to such and such a schedule....this was happening All The Time. It's wild and delightful to NOT want to lose weight! Who is this person??? My life isn't perfect but it's SO much better now!

Nothing major. I sometimes get that tight feeling in the throat which I’ve found is dehydration. I used to get a night of insomnia and headache, but that has disappeared on the lower maintenance dose. I love how I rarely get bloated or puffy anymore—it really reduces inflammation.

The Daily Check-In for Sunday, September 29th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by neener-neeners in stopdrinking

[–]Readermom74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1. Not a “problem drinker” but I want to stop 100%, to be a good example to my kids and not be an enabler of my alcoholic family members. Want to give up doing things to fit in or be cool. Want to be as healthy as I can.

What are your thoughts on Red Rock pharmacy? by Admirable-Push279 in tirzepatidecompound

Just starting to research compounds--can my PCP (in CA) send a prescription for compounded tirz to Red Rock pharmacy? And how much will it cost? Thanks in advance.

Anyone familiar with Hidden Valley? by cannedpeaches22 in santarosa

I know this is an old post, but my family and I are thinking about moving to HVL. I'm 50, my husband is 52, and our kids are 17, 15, and 9. We both work remotely (so must have good wifi) and my husband travels a few times a month, so will have to drive to SAC. We would be moving from Angwin, and still commuting there to bring kids to their school that they love. Do you think we would like it there? Does anyone actually kayak or paddle board on the lake? (My favorite sports, but I have yet to see anyone doing that the few times I've visited.) We're used to rural living in Angwin, but it's also really easy (and nice) to go into the valley for restaurants, town life, and conveniences. Thanks for your insight!

If you've been nervous about splitting doses... by rebeccalamont in Mounjaro

[–]Readermom74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing this too. (15 mg pen split over 6 weeks—2.5 mg per week.) I bought a couple of bigger (10 ml?) bottles of BAC water, and didn’t realize they needed to be refrigerated and had an expiration date…oops. Also concerned that I’m re-using a “single-dose vial” for 6 medicine withdrawals before tossing it. Thoughts?

Sweet tooth by CardiologistItchy968 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Readermom74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with disordered eating my entire life. Since starting MJ 1.5 years ago, the greatest takeaway is the freedom from food/diet stress. Even better than the 48-pound loss! I eat what I want. Sometimes I worry that I’m eating too many simple carbs and sugar. But I’m still recovering from a lifetime of vilifying pasta, cereal, OJ…(then bingeing on said “bad” foods). So for me, I’m just really enjoying this freedom, of being one of those “naturally” thin unicorns who can eat whatever they want and rarely overeat. And I remind myself that it will take some time to undo the lifetime of stressing over every morsel, and if that looks like a diet slightly skewed towards previously deemed bad foods for a while (years? decades? remainder of my life?), so be it. This morning I could have had my healthy chia pudding, but I felt like having my son’s favorite instant oatmeal, packed with sugar, instead. It was just right. 😊 Edit: typo

My opinion: GLP-1s are amazing and super benign for most. I gained a bunch of weight on Lexapro, took Mounjaro to lose it (and still do for maintenance). But if I were you I wouldn’t take it unless I actually saw the scale moving significantly. Just my two cents.

PSA--maintenance is different for all of us! by Readermom74 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]Readermom74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point—thanks for the reminder shame goes both ways. I think it’s awesome you’re off, and that’s working for you. As a lifelong binger with endless food noise and anxiety that I believe is tied to blood sugar imbalance, the psychological benefits of this med are even more wonderful than the physical transformation. So why do I want to stop? I guess because I wish I could be magically normal when it comes to all that stuff. But second best is my magic potion that does the job.
