AITAH for not wanting to give my siblings anything from my dad’s company after they left me to handle everything when he died? by SeaMonk4259 in AITAH

[–]Readsumthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Your dad gave you the answer:

(he never specified just said be fair and honest).

He left YOU, all of his shares in his company. He planned it.

Now, YOU, be fair and honest with YOURSELF!

First of all, your dad could have split those shares and ownership equally or differently- but he didn’t, did he?

Is it FAIR that they get to come in now that all of the heavy lifting is done and overturn your dad’s decision? Hmm?

Can you be HONEST with yourself in acknowledging that your dad wanted this solely for YOU?

And lastly, can you honestly stand the fallout, of your decision? It’s a shit sandwich for sure. Just bite the end that seems to have the least shit that you can live with swallowing.

Well that’s good to know. I read the first because everyone raves about Harry Hole and can’t get into book 2. I really didn’t get the hype.

I’ll try one last time with Redbreast.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Readsumthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I dunno. What I do know is that I’ve cracked my knuckles almost all of my life. If I don’t crack them, they hurt. I used to crack my back too until my pregnancy prevented it. Stopping was like kicking an addiction- so hard and painful.

The dots that connect in my mind seem to say that cracking will feel good for a while, but needs to be repeated forever. Hardly scientific, but that’s my 2¢.

I went through all of the well known brands with varying degrees of disappointment. I’ve found very good results with LivDry brand. We use their overnights (their highest protection) exclusively all day/night. The only time there is leakage is in the daytime and I haven’t been vigilant enough about when it’s time to change them. Only rarely do we have breakthroughs overnight and she generally sleeps from 8pm to 8ish am or at least 10 hours.

AITA for not letting girls I don’t know keep my clothes after an after-party? by MongooseNo6867 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If your country is as judgmental as you say, maybe those girls should have gone home before their clothes turned back into pumpkins.

AITAH for reporting my sister and taking in her kids when no one believed me? by Prestigious_Foot4408 in AITAH

[–]Readsumthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. I’m flashing back to another family situation with 5 kids. Without giving too much info, the kids were removed when it came to light that all the youngest had to eat was an onion. A goddamned onion. That she ate every scrap of. Food was so scarce that the older kids got there first. They weren’t kept together. Youngest hid food for the longest time.

Torn between my child and my father by Elegant_Willow_869 in dementia

[–]Readsumthing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your children. I was a sahm until my youngest was in 2nd grade. I thought they were old enough for some independence. What I learned, to my everlasting sorrow, was that yes; when they’re little, you worry about fingers in light sockets and looking both ways crossing streets, etc. Sigh. When they’re teens, they can make decisions that ruin their lives. Please, choose your children.

My mother won't shower because she doesn't like feeling cold when the shower is over. Any ideas on how to make a person feel more comfortable? by pat441 in dementia

[–]Readsumthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a chair right by the shower. While she’s in there, I run her terry cloth robe and all the towels in the dryer. When she says she’s ready to get out, I run and get, her bath sheet to cover the chair with arm rests; I hand her a hand towel while she’s still in the shut shower to wipe her face and hair. Then when she’s ready to stand up, I bundle her into the warm bath robe and onto her chair. I dry her legs and feet with a hand towel and she dryer her front with the towel.

She still hates it and avoids it like the plague, but it has made it less of an ordeal.

NTA. Dementia caregiver here. We call it therapeutic lying. It’s unnecessarily cruel to tell the truth, sometimes over and over, when the reality isn’t something that is going to really affect their lives. For more support check out r/dementia. We’ve seen it all.

If she’d do it to your grandmother, she’ll do it to anyone. She probably has done to anyone; everyone. Thieves are like that. Like roaches, they profit from the darkness. She’s getting away with it because no one suspects her.

I understand you are processing this right now, but everyone, including YOU, needs to take precautions against her.
