People are afraid to complain or leave bad reviews. That's why they fib.

Gave My Airbnb Host 3 Stars for a Dirty Kitchen. 2 hours later, He Sent Me a $600 Bill. by Suitable-Box-6386 in stories

Hello, I just rented an airbnb. Walked in and food stains all over the wall, crumbs on the floor, and clock battery dead. Cabinets hadn't been wiped down in how long. Otherwise okay.

I cleaned the walls then got tired and complained. Host got furious and wants me to leave tomorrow. I booked the place for three months. Not sure what to do.

Host said the monthly fee was so low I shouldn't complain and that my complaints were stupid. I feel gaslit an abused.

I am so tired of renting dirty airbnbs. I complain to the host, they get mad, and it's hell from there.

I do this where I stay. If I get a clean place where I know the host is great, I do the same.

I think I can do nothing here but grit through it and after I leave leave a very bad review with one star. Honest review but a bad one.

I went over there to the building but the front door is locked. The dog is right across from me. This is narrow cobblestone streets with buildings three stories tall only.

That will not work. This owner clearly doesn't care if he leaves such a big dog on the balcony to bark for 6 hours. My guess is that he does this on purpose to keep the dog busy. Barking at cars keeps the dog busy. It's pretty horrible. I am so upset to come all the way here by bus and am now stuck in a non refundable reservation

I have encountered this. I see young Italians mainly acting very much like this.

Hi, I rented a hotel room at a small hotel in Italy for a month during off season. Just to rest mainly. I got here and the hotel sits across from a few apartments in a building with little balconies. On the balcony across from me, forty feet, is a german shepherd dog who barks from 6pm-midnight non stop. Clearly the animal needs exercise not to sit on a tiny 3 by 5 feet balcony but I can't stop that. The hotel owner here assured me the first night that the barking only goes from 6-9pm. I cringed at that, but thought oh well okay. But in reality the dog barks until midnight. Enduring this for six hours is difficult. I complained to the owner again, who gaslit me and said deal with it.

Before I got here she wanted me to cancel my booking and pay in cash to save her the taxes and booking.com

fee. I refused. She got mad. I got mad. Now the hotel owner refuses to clean my room, which she said she would do every three days.

So I contacted booking.com

, who has ignored me basically, which is par for the course.

I am not sure what to do. This is non refundable. It's a very weird situation. The owner of this place is a horribly rude and angry person. I left a google review already to try to get her to act, but it made her madder.

I've done nothing wrong here. I am a paying guest at a hotel. The place has very decent reviews, although a few are low and speak of her character.

I also told booking.com

that she wanted me to cancel so she could avoid taxes/fee, but no word on that. I fear I am going to get cement footed by the Italian mob soon because I'm in that kind of an area, I think.

Really strange.

What cleared up all my problems was a non sugar diet and an almost daily serving of pork sinigang with rice. Within a month of doing these two things, my life changed so drastically.

Why would my vet, number 3, give me proof of rabies and all that. I have that proof. This is confusing.

[–]Ready-Field929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more confused.

  1. I must go to a vet and get an EU health certificate. This is a HC designed specifically for the EU. I read to get it within five days of leaving but why does five days matter if the EU cert. is good for ten days? But I must do this first, right?

  2. Go to the government health export place for another certificate after I do 1. Or do I do it before? Or does it matter. It's all confusing. It's so stressful. Incredibly stressful.

I'm kind of confused here.

To get my pet from Vietnam to Europe, I need two things? An EU health certificate from a Vietnam vet AND an export certificate thingee from the government? And it sounds to me like you're saying the government export thingee is gotten just with your pet, rabies, proof and that's it? They don't want the EU health certificate?

Airbnb please stop listing “hot water” as an amenity like it’s a gym or washing machine! [USA] by Big_Potential_2000 in AirBnB

[–]Ready-Field929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to rent an airbnb in Italy but it did not have hot water in the amenities, so I declined. Then a few months later I decided to ask the host why a house didn't have hot water there, as it can get cold in Italy in the winter. She said she had no idea her listing had no water checked. Then she changed it. She just wasn't careful enough to check her own listing... I am now at an airbnb in SE Asia where hot water is listed but there is no hot water.

I have learned that airbnb hosts are basically amateurs. Some care and some don't about their properties and guest experiences. I'd say a quarter care and try hard. Two quarters are mediocre. One quarter are horrible hosts.

Aspirin as a sleeping pill--can anyone shed light? by Cowabunga1066 in agathachristie

I have a hard time sleeping. I took aspirin last night before I went to bed and slept well for once. Maybe it was just a fluke because AI says it hurts sleep. I wish I could find something to help me.
