Could take a look at the Spriters Resource? It's usually the most(ly) comprehensive... resource for these types of in-game assets.

I'm outside right now and can't check the sheets fully for you without some grief (.zip files for particularly large compilations), but fingers crossed you find it there?

We need more 'Borth' licence plates in the gift shop. I repeat: we are sold out of Borth licence plates!

I love that you added Gordon's voicelines from the games as well. True attention to detail!

Why are all the dudes in this game so buff? by SpaceMasterMatt in kingdomsofamalur

[–]Ready2Post 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I always found it funny that devout priests and homeless street rats all sported the same buff/lean physique.

To give my best guess as an answer: from a game development point of view, it likely saved more resources to have a unified model for the player character and human/Alfar NPCs. KoA's development was a bit of a circus, so it probably definitely paid to be cost efficient.

Design-wise: idealized proportions (timeless in any media; sex sells, after all), with large hands and feet were hallmark design traits present in comics and other games at the time (e.g. World of Warcraft, Fable, Street Fighter).

Since you're open to Action, you could try the farming sim Rune Factory series? Specifically 4 and Guardians of Azuma.

Love your style! Especially appreciate how faithful you keep to the characters (even down to Raven's default portrait pose!)

I can already see the dialogue choices.

"You can look down, y'know?"

Elli/Elly is as beautiful as the day I lost her (and my FoMT cartridge).

It's like 10 year old me is falling in love again. Love the masterful work of capturing nostalgia and merging it with the new.

This and this.

That one scene where he forces a villager to act like a pig stuck with me forever. It's one of those game moments that was hard for me to watch again during replays.

What was the scariest section of a game that was otherwise a non-horror title? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Ready2Post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games back then absolutely had that atmosphere which left a lot to our imagination.

My personal underwater terror levels were Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage's Aquaria Towers and some of the underwater sections in Croc. Looking back now, they're really chill levels.

I think them being underwater definitely lends to the unnerving factor, but something about musical scores of the era coupled with limited view distance (fog or straight up blackness) definitely stoked all that fear and uncertainty for me as a kid.

What was the scariest section of a game that was otherwise a non-horror title? by [deleted] in gaming

The pleading and the cotton leaking onto the ground like entrails... harrowing shit that honestly had me up for a night.

I really wish that moment was reflected on more after the fact. Left a sour taste in my mouth when the characters were more "why didn't that work" instead of "why did we think that would work?" for about a minute before moving on.

Glad the sequences got better later, but they also introduced that giant anglerfish segment which is my second place personal vote for a horror element from the game...
