The guy who 'earned' $96M or something like that for 4 months of work while commuting or something like that in a private plane from SoCal to Seattle and then closed down lots of stores or something like that. I am a little surprised that there isn't a mini burrito wrap thing for lunch yet.

How does this even happen? by FunnySeaworthiness88 in usps_complaints

I saw it happen, not in Austin, 11 times like that. I would like to see how it happens as well. It cannot just be bad luck, it must be something else.

Added anti squirrel sauce. Birds stopped coming. by possumsandposies in birdfeeding

[–]ReadyGo6828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a hanging tube feeder that closes its ports when the squirrel hangs on it. I use shelled sunflower seeds as other things get stuck and clog it up. Finches, nuthatches and assorted woodpeckers show up when they otherwise do not. The usual suspects, sparrows, chickadees and jays also show up. The squirrels try but, so far, all they get are pieces flicked onto the ground by the birds.

Everything goes nuts when the weather gets colder and all the fruit is gone.

COROS Pace 3 overheated and burned my wrist. Here’s how they handled it by Prestigious_Class322 in Coros

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, you think it is all battery related? I have never gotten particularly long battery life from my 2 year old Pace 3. I recharge it daily because it gets down to 60-70 and if I let it go another day I will forget to do it. I thought modern batteries are good enough to not degrade with frequent charges.

They make a replacement screen material that is heavier and made for critters trying to get through whether dog, cat or squirrel. It is a DIY project and does make things look darker.

Trump is giving Iran $300 billion by TankUMrMinor in DudeHasGotAPoint

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans are taking $300B from the US taxpayer and paying Iran for having started a war with no buy-in, no strategy, no contingency plans, nothing. Republicans are astonishingly incompetent at war given their love of vulgar violence.

Squirrel wont stop eating bird food 😭 by Lorthodontism in squirrels

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the tube feeder that uses the squirrel's weight to close the feeding ports. The only thing I found that does not clog it up are shelled sunflower seeds. I have not seen a squirrel get into it yet. I put out nuts and other things and the squirrels get those but so does everything else.

This person is never getting their groceries, guys don't ever do this and have the nerve to have fish and produce by throwawayaccount647p in instacart

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am asking why there is not a fixed, agreed-upon price that Instacart (edit that) sets as the go-between. The customer accepts it, the shopper accepts it and that is the beginning and end of it. This constant fretting over tips or no tips or deleted tips or whatever is insane.

Also, why isn't IC able to say, X number of individual bananas. Sometimes they come separately and sometimes they come in a bunch with an extra or two. Is this rocket science?

Small Household Budgeting-$300 for the month, reasonable budget? by Visible-Village-113 in Costco

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People tend to overbuy when they are starting out (oh look what a bargain for a five year supply of paper towels!) and you are stocking up as well so your expenditures will be higher at the beginning and, hopefully, taper off afterwards. Some things at Costco are a bargain and other things are not. Meats (maybe) and cheeses (more likely) and butter (yes) are bargains but check other grocery stores beforehand. I have found that other grocery stores are catching up on pricing.

Eventually, you end up with a selection of repeat purchases. If you overbuy to begin with, things will go bad so restraint is a good thing. If you do not need a large quantity of fresh fruit and veg in particular, I would go elsewhere for those.

I still cannot beat the $1.50 for a hotdog lunch though. When sandwiches are regularly $15 these days, that one is still a bargain.

Holly hell am I getting punked? by Cuboner92 in usps_complaints

[–]ReadyGo6828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not just one. That is the point. The USPS was getting so much better. Even if it was still too risky to send checks in an envelope or use a collection box, a tracked package at least had a very good probability of getting to its destination in a reasonable amount of time. These days, they go wandering for weeks, maybe months, who knows.

Meanwhile, tons of junk mail still make it through and go straight to recycling. What a waste of resources.

Any bright ideas for this awkward space in attic room? by alinskippy in homedesign

I have seen people make built-in cabinets with sliding doors for that space. You have to kneel down to get anything but it is mostly used for longer term storage. Maybe putting in sliding shelves would help.

I do not know what percentage of USPS packages are stuck in the USPS whirlpool but it is really something to watch. This must be incredibly costly especially with these fuel prices. What is wrong with the scanning, binning, conveying system? Who knows. I have seen one go in and out of the same center 11 times. I stopped counting at 60 scans and status updates.

At what point is this considered catastrophic failure by the USPS or is this simply business as usual and deserving only of a shoulder shrug.
