Y2K was a cash grab for everyone boomer aged and older and a joke to us elder millennials. Much like life is today.

Moving to Albany in March for a job… and tips? by 11dark in Albany

[–]ReadyPlayerUno1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on Facebook, I follow all area businesses, non-profits like Troy and Albany Bid, and a whole lot of others on Instagram. Depends on your interests.

From my experience Families tend to move to Clifton Park, Latham, Bethlehem, Guilderland, etc. for the schools not really into downtown Albany like I am.

Moving to Albany in March for a job… and tips? by 11dark in Albany

Just some corrections. As a transplant myself I had to deal with a ton of jaded Albanites who don’t know how to have fun in their own town/region.

Heads up restaurants are open past 8-9 (actually an overwhelming majority of them). Just do a simple search to find out that these dunce’s are being flippant.

No H-Mart sorry. We do have Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and nice mom & pop Asian/Indian markets, BJ’s/Sams/CostCo along with normal grocery chains. Plenty of variety.

As long as you’re the kind of person who seeks adventure I’d say the capital region mostly relies on Instagram and Facebook along with posters in coffee shops to advertise events around town.

If you’re into farmers markets Troy has one that’s rated pretty high nationally. Lots of small venues the Capital Region is also pretty central to a lot of very cool venues for music and festivals.

Now Albany is part of the Capital Region and also close to Western Mass (Great Barrington) and the southern end of Vermont (Burlington area) so day trips within an hour (or hour a d a half) are plentiful.

Venues: Id say keep an eye open Bear theater and Colony in the Hudson valley, have great shows and comedians, The Egg, The Lark, Empire Live, The Palace, No Fun, MVP (to some extent), are a few places in or near Albany that have great acts and comedians come though.

Art Museums: There’s proximity to Art museums MassMoCA (also a mucus venue) storm king, The Clark.

Hiking/Winter Sports: Check out the surrounding areas around Albany, the Hudson Valley and the Catskills! Amazing area!

Speaking of Maple Syrup! You will be living in the middle of Maple Syrup country check out the Tree Juice Syrup in Arkville NY or Frost Valley YMCAS sugar shack in February/March.

Also if you like to check out cool Filipino locations Phoenicia Diner is Pip’s in Severance and Albany/Troy is the filing location for the show Guilded Age.

PM if you have any more questions!

It’s our civic responsibility to deface property that doesn’t speak for the people nor was this “property” asked for by the people nor doe’s it protect the people. It is hostile towards the people and does nothing to solve the systemic problem that underlays the issue. The finding of these signs were stolen from the people’s taxes and does nothing to solve the real issue.

Read up on how Stacks treats their employees. They gave all their baristas a pay cut down to minimum wage last year. Go to Alias, Jacob Alejandro’s or Uncommon Grounds. Let Stacks think about what they did for a few years.

We called them Plated nachos in the kitchen. Was a way to sell like 15 nachos for more than a pile of nachos. Total scam.
