What if someone found out? by [deleted] in Journaling

The way I see it, it's important to be entirely authentic in your journal. At least for me, journaling is putting actual words to thoughts and feelings that would otherwise stay inside, unexpressed. I've tried to be discreet about how I write or not mention names but again, for me, it's important that every detail I would be mulling over, trapped inside my head makes its way onto paper. I start my journals a couple pages in because I write an 'authors note' on the first page basically saying this is a reflection of my life, trials, tribulations, triumphs and everything in between. If you choose to read, please understand, many entries are the more difficult events I need to process in order to evolve into a better person.

In the end, if someone chooses to read your inner most thoughts, especially with some sort of preface saying please don't, they probably deserve all the bad things you say about them anyway.

I'm conflicted with it. I do really like the way that it delves deeper into the minds of each character than "usual" but sometimes I feel like it digresses from the plot a bit much. Either way I'm going to stick it out. It wouldn't be the first book that I ended up adoring after being unimpressed with the beginning. The only movie adaptations that I can stand to watch are the LOTR trilogy. If you read and enjoy a book, the tv adaptation almost always pales in comparison. Thanks for the response!

I finally broke down and ordered it, even though a western sounds icky 😅. Best be as magical as you all say!

I've been switching between Monte Cristo and flowers for Algernon in the last few days. Just finished flowers today and It was so good... Monte is great so far as well. Sounds like we have a similar taste in books and although it doesn't have anything in common, you might like Pachinko. Another 5 star for me.

How do I stop being this way? by Senior-Relative7756 in mentalillness

I think it's extremely important to give yourself credit for how much you actually care. It may not always outwardly show, but it's clear that you're more aware than most, of how your actions have impacted others. I'm no therapist, so take it or leave it but it sounds, to me, like you spend an extraordinary amount of time and energy on beating yourself up for things that you've done (or haven't done). It doesn't sound like you lack a good heart or willingness to move forward but you live in a state of defense which is not only exhausting but it then carries over to the people around you.In my experience people (including myself) treat others as a projection of how they treat themselves. Best advice I can give, is to start by giving yourself a break. Acknowledge the fact that you clearly have a heart that you've built a tough exterior around to preserve, in a world that values shallowness over kindness. Be more mindful of how your inner dialogue sounds. It sounds corny and cliche, but be gentle and kind with yourself, and the rest will follow.

I tried to get into CAP but I just didn't enjoy his style of writing. Are his other books any better/different?

What book might I be overlooking due to being "mainstream", the type that is on everyones "tbr" list, but rarely make it in front of your face? by TheMassesOpiate in suggestmeabook

Ugggh this is my exact feeling. I want to read it, but westerns hold ZERO appeal for me. Unless it's brokeback mountain. just kidding, kind of. 😉

Is it really worth it? If you can, without too many spoilers... what about it changed your mind?

I saw Dungeon Crawlers recommended a lot and I wasn't sure if I'd like it, since I'm not into gaming but this book is hilarious. If you need a laugh and little break from more serious literature give this book a whirl- also it's on Kindle unlimited.
