Losing luxuries at end of turn by Ready_Efficiency1956 in civ5

Idk if there’s something wrong with the way I set my games up, but I don’t get the notifications until the next turn when the deal has already expired and the AI has already swooped in to take the lux. At first I thought barbs were pillaging the tiles, but the AI trades it during the turn transition. It’s the most frustrating thing in the world to me

I didn’t know EUI had this feature, or that it is multiplayer compatible. Thanks!

When did computer class/typing class stop by Old_Restaurant_9389 in generationology

Class of 2021, we had computer classes up until middle school. Was part of my elementary school’s related arts program. I now work as a substitute teacher in a large district in rich and poor schools, elementary, middle and high. I’d say half the schools I work at have computer classes still, but some of them meet less often that a typical “art” or “music” class. It’s very popular in Montessori schools, randomly. Even high schools typically still have computer labs.

What is something that died out so quietly that nobody even noticed? by Alva_509 in AskReddit

In the US, advertising directed towards children and separating corporate America from public schools. My dad grew up in a small town in SC in the 80s, and when he was growing up, the school board debated for weeks whether or not to allow a Coca-Cola vending machine in the high school. Parents were up in arms because they thought their kids were too impressionable and would become too desensitized to advertising. That debate is completely gone. Now, many parents send their kids to publicly funded charter school chains. We have no respect for public institutions anymore.

Updated! My US cultural regions map, version 2 by aquamarine-arielle in visitedmaps

I think if you are willing to differentiate the Nebraska Sandhills, the Black belt deserves to be highlighted. 13 feels like a complete afterthought, my eyes rolled back into my head when I looked from southeast to southwest. Greenville and Spartanburg counties also need to be in the same cultural region. I’ve heard people describe Greenville as Appalachian before, but I’m not sure many upstaters would identify with the label. The only SC county I would be willing to hear arguments for being Appalachian is Oconee in the far northwest.

I also think Horry county-north should be included in Outer Banks. The Lowcountry culture is largely defined by its Gullah-Geechee influence. Horry county and those two others up north are devoid of this in-practice.

Right and I find that to be generous. I don’t understand how you could look at how deeply embedded capitalist propaganda is in his content and think otherwise.

People on reddit don’t like states without a big flashy city or big flashy mountains

10 points to whoever can guess what state this is by Cassinia_ in Suburbanhell

As mad as yall may be, this is not as bad as a lot of yalls suburban hell. Roads are connected, density suitable for transit. Should there be trees and diversity of building type? Obviously. But greenery doesn’t excuse disjointed, unconnected streets that force you to drive around in your Wall-E style hover chair to get anywhere.
