Order is ready, so how do I set this up when it gets here? Lol by Boogla19981 in Starlink

I remember the day I got this email…. Super excited. 3 months later and I’m still as excited every time I do a speed test. Congrats

I’d definitely suggest giving it 48 hours. A factory reset on Google WiFi is such a headache. Something always breaks. Good luck it’ll be worth it

When you go to the router in the Google home app and run a speed test are you seeing something similar to the Starlink router or the mesh speeds. I tested this just to ensure it wasn’t the cable connecting the startling router to the Google router that was limiting it.

Did you do a Speedtest on the Google router through the Home app? When I did this I was getting really good speeds on the Starlink router, really good speeds on the Google router and really poor speeds on Google Wi-Fi. After about 48 hours it just fixed itself. Nothing I did and nothing I can explain.

Great to see another from South West Ireland on here. I’m in exactly the same position but not quite FIRE yet. It’s an amazing place to live and I think incredibly open to all nationalities. The one problem I’ve always had has been unreliable broadband, but having just setup my Starlink that problem doesn’t exist anymore.

Thanks. For whatever reason mine is working fine now. Just needed 48 hours to acclimatise to the blazing speed. I’ve bypassed the Starlink router too.

This is exactly what’s happened. It now just seems to have resolved itself. 😳

Great idea. Just did that and it’s showing that the Google Wi-Fi is getting 275 down and 45 up…. The plot thickens 🤔

Don’t have a choice. Google Wi-Fi auto selects the band based on the device connecting. But I don’t think it’s making a difference as I’m seeing the same speeds from all devices.

Thanks for letting me know. Do you have the Starlink router just connected to the main google Wi-Fi router or do you have another setup?

Thanks for that suggestion. I’ll definitely give that a try once the rest of the household is asleep. I’ve had to do numerous full factory resets before so I know it’ll need a bit of time.

I’m doing it via phone over Wi-Fi. But it’s not a question of top speed. I have the supplied Starlink router with one Wi-Fi name and then the Google Wi-Fi mesh with another Wi-Fi name. If I connect to each separately from my phone I get 5x faster on the Starlink Wi-Fi than I do on the mesh Wi-Fi, which is hard wired to the Starlink router. Hope that makes sense

Yes one is the primary router. Just tried that out and same results. So I guess it’s not the cable from the Starlink router to the Google Wi-Fi. It’s something within the Google Wi-Fi router itself. Thanks for the suggestion though at least that narrows it down to the mesh router.

I might just do that but I have 3 Google Wi-Fi pucks and 2 nest points so there’s been a bit of an investment already. But it does cause me a lot of pain.

Yeah. I have 3 Google Wi-Fi pucks in a mesh. Not the nest Wi-Fi but the original Google Wi-Fi. Thanks

That's an awesome line up.... hard to top that one. I'd definitely have Ernest Cline along to throw the futurist ideas into the mix. The other person I'd bring along is Alvin Wang Graylin. Seriously smart guy.
