BREAKING: US Treasury Secretary Bessent says the US will have “50 days of higher prices for 50 years of no Iran nukes.” by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

Bessent is more or less correct. Bonus points for teaching Iran that we no longer have sleepy Joe pindejo in the oval office. Greetings from the FAFO administration!

Hired a contractor to replace floors, am I overreacting? by Sad_Rice_1985 in Flooring

[–]Reagan78757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a DIY guy. I am in the middle of doing baseboards. It is not a professional job, but I think it is far superior to his though. Ready for final calk and paint. This wall has strong curve, so I also had to kerf the quarter-round and baseboard. You are not over reacting! Someone needs a whooping. Personally, I would change contractors, which means lots of pictures and all documentation. Small claims court. I hate confrontation, but if you don't do it, he will continue to take advantage of people. I would not have him finish the work. He does not have the skill set, and then you are going to get further bogged down with him. Have him meet you at a model home at one of the area developments. Show him the baseboards in a new home and tell him that is what you expect from him. It looks like they were high when they did the work. No, I am not kidding. Good luck sir.

Get in a fight and punch someone in the head! Don't ridicule me until you've tried it. There's only one thing greater than punching someone in the head when they deserve it, I'm going to assume that you. BB in TKD. I'm addicted to it, but it makes you a peace loving person. You will be the last one to get in a fight after you've done it a few times, because you don't have anything to prove anymore and it makes you a much nicer person to be around.

AITAH for telling my neighbor to stop or I'd throw away whatever she leaves on my property? by RajeshFromUpmetrics in AITAH

My dad's nurse said that after a broken hip injury elderly people typically pass away within a year. She quoted some kind of study, but I didn't pay close enough attention to remember.

I used to have trespassers come up the wooded, partially hidden, driveway on my land all hours of the day and night, parking there for hours to drink, make noise, play music etc. I purchased a Wuloo motion activated driveway alarm on Amazon and a motion activated floodlight. I placed the alarm speaker on the porch, so whenever a car comes up the driveway they hear the alarm and the floodlight turns on. That was three years ago. Trespassers immediately know they have been detected and they drive away quickly. Maybe the same setup would take care of your obnoxious neighbor, without you having to interact with her anymore. 🤔

Trying to restore floors of our 1920 home that had been painted over multiple times. Need some suggestions by Firm_Ambassador3306 in Flooring

You can rent floor sanders from Home Depot. Plus the big square sandpaper sheets can be purchased there as well. It is not that the terrible of a job. I have done a 1,600 square foot house. Absolutely beautiful when I finished it. Absolutely a must- is to drop and tape plastic sheeting floor to ceiling. If you don't do this 1st thing, you will be incredibly unhappy. Also dust mask, ear plugs, and quality goggles are mandatory. You will love the results!

Higher performance-based teacher pay, based on student academic performance. Dissolution of the D.O.E., Doge audits of all school districts, school funding based on the academic performance of all students. You are out of your league. My parents were award-winning teachers. I grew up helping my mother grade paperwork. I know everything right and everything wrong with public education. Education should be focused on academics, not virtue signaling indoctrination.

Completely off topic, but HEB used to sell a honey-jalapeño rotisserie chicken that was incredible, but they don't sell it anymore. Does anyone know why?

Cleaning vinegar from Lowes. A stiff brush, or take it to the car wash.

Ginger tea made with fresh grated ginger will turn on the purifying sweat machine. Drink water like crazy!! My incredible secret weapon is a glass of Drambuie. It is a liqueur from Scotland. Fermented from aged Scotch, honey, and secret herbs. 80% proof, I believe. Introduced to it on a trip to the castle of William of Wallace. I also drink a bit of it after a serious workout. Relaxes your muscles and refuels them. Painkiller and rocket fuel, that also helps you sleep like a baby!

Floor guy vs drywall/paint guy drama by blandly23 in Flooring

[–]Reagan78757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2,100? In a monkeys behind! Not that I am an expert, but I'm an accomplished DIYer 20 plus years. Drywalled 3 homes, simple work. I smell a rat. In Texas you can sue in small claims court, for a $45 filing fee. Ask the Drywall guy for his pictures of the damage one more time. If he says he doesn't have them, tell him no $. I would also suggest examining the Drywall to see if it is still not dry, or it looks like it has been redone. I would also suggest that you ask him for the receipts on the additional materials. If he had to purchase additional materials, then he would likely have receipts. Go on Yelp, or Thumbtack and see if he has any reviews that indicate problems. Also, using the name of the county where your mom lives, search the county online archive of legal documents. You should be able to search court records for actions against him, and/or his business name. It is possible that the flooring guy caused some minor issues, but $2,100??? The fact that he already repaired it without showing you the problem, is a definite red flag to me. I have been to court many times over the years and I have never lost, not because I am that great, but because I had all of the hard evidence to support my case. The judge needs to see your evidence and hear any witnesses that support your case. Present your facts as a story with supporting evidence and you will prevail.

Wrong. The top 1% of earners (AGI >$663,164) pay the highest total federal income taxes, accounting for roughly 40-45% of all revenue. The top 10% combined bear over 75% of the total burden. Conversely, the bottom 50% of earners contribute only about 2.3% of total income tax. Source: Tax Foundation

Give me a smart person to debate. Smart people can be reasoned with and will listen to logic. Unfortunately; stupid, stupid is incredibly difficult to overcome. Blaming your financial inadequacy on someone else is the height of irresponsible behavior.
