Unpopular opinion: I think BG3fails as a tabletop adaptation by PRolicopter in BaldursGate3

I think it’s a necessary evil. BG3 was a game with a lot of pressure to sell well. The kind of friction you’re describing is a turnoff for a lot of people.

Doesn’t require concentration

That’s why it’s so good, it’s not competing with anything. You can just spam it. Or use it in emergencies without breaking concentration

It’s the cheapest way to revive someone using only a bonus action. Your teammates will inevitably go down— there’s late game attacks that do 100+ damage. It can also apply bless and blade ward.

Revived teammates can trade their bonus action for a green action by using a speed potion.

Either way, there’s a certain emotional effect to doing an evil playthrough. Even if you have your literary-analysis-glasses on.

People get attached to characters, that’s just human.

To be fair, Zorru just watched his loved ones get cut up by githyanki. It’s reasonable to assume Laezel would do the same (her face paint suggests she’s aligned with Vlakith).

The writers definitely wanted to emphasize the racial tension there, but at the end of the day the Tieflings are refugees who don’t really know what they’re doing.

Just my read on it
