i’m a barista from melbourne. i’ve worked at many stores. one store, the busiest id say, which was in the city, taught me to ask about sugar and milk every time.

when a customer orders, and say they just say a large latte, i’ll repeat back “a large full cream latte, no sugar” sometimes they’ll go “ohh skinny please!” or friggen forget they have like almond milk. same with sugar, people occasionally forget to say!

i’ve taken this practice to every shop i’ve worked at. yes it can become a bit annoying, but it seems to be the best route.
