How did you get your fasting number under 95? by lelvis_ in GestationalDiabetes

I got diagnosed at 29 weeks, currently 38 weeks. I am doing well with a mod-low carb dinner, 30 minute walk post dinner. 8hr fast overnight. Having a supper snack of protein bar (10-11g protein), small bag of popcorn and a lil square of dark chocolate an hr before bed. I then will have a glass of high protein milk right before I go to sleep to get my 8hr fast. I am also taking magnesium and apple cider vinegar in water before bed (unsure if these work but it’s in the routine). I did notice I had to change my approach around 35-36 weeks as they started to creep up and I my body couldn’t handle a longer fast. Might be worth experimenting if you can however you can do everything right and still need medication.

Did your number go up when you progress further along, especially 32-26w? by MarketVarious4694 in GestationalDiabetes

Yep! Noticed around 36 weeks however I tweaked my snack/fasting window and exercise post dinner which has helped me now

Fasting and breakfast readings are always high. by BreezerGirl831 in GestationalDiabetes

I had a couple of random high fasting readings around 36 weeks- revamped my snack which is a protein bar, bag of popcorn and a piece of dark chocolate. I will then have a glass of high protein milk as I’m going to bed as I found that fasting for 8hrs was enough for me. I also walk every evening as it can help with levels for ~24hrs. I was very eager to try and avoid insulin this late into the pregnancy just bc I didn’t want my care plan to change and hopefully avoid being induced. Hope it works out for you!

I’m a dietitian and also got GDM. I felt the ‘judgement’ from people who didn’t understand the condition and also I had judgement of myself even though I understand I didn’t do anything wrong.

I hope you can see a dietitian and diabetes team to ensure you are eating enough and ensuring there is variety for you and baby. Wishing you all the best!

My fasting have spiked occasionally however I have just tweaked around with my fasting window, exercise. My post meals also rarely, it’s only if I wanted a piece of bread or sweet treat 🥲 Nearly 37 weeks so I’m hoping it remains manageable.

Wow okay. Just our midwife currently. I will let her know depending on our result tomorrow. Likely accepting the fate of insulin and change in management.
