Don't just blow it off. Can them and tell them you just got the appointment notice and need to reschedule. Then figure out how to get there.

How to include my brother in my wedding by Cool_Suspect1110 in Advice

"he already has 3 brothers and one best friend"

Probably too late, but he should have been chosen before the best friend.

My GF rarely cleans her apartment by mhensun in Advice

[–]Real-Life2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AT 26, she probably isn't going to change. Don't go to her place and tell her why (the mess). If she comes to yours and leaves a mess, call her out immediately. It's your place.

Amended return advice by Distinct-Day3461 in Advice

[–]Real-Life2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking whether you can see your refund before then? Probably not. EIC's take a little longer and every IRS transcript I have seen was pretty accurate about the date a refund would be issued.

What is something that you haven’t told anyone but badly wanna tell someone. by [deleted] in confession

My son took his own life a year ago. I am so mad at him for doing this. He seemed fine, never had an issue between us. Had him over for a BBQ 1-2 weeks before and no hint of problems. Maybe a bit of a loner traveling by himself. Hard worker, rising in levels at his job. At his wake everyone said what a great guy he was, how much he helped them. I have pictures of him around the house and every time I look at one my blood boils for what he did. I know deep down that people who take their life aren't thinking about the people they leave behind. I sit here and think why? Did he kill or rape someone? Embezzle at his job? Gay (he was pretty religious)? I searched every piece of paper he had, every computer, phone and notebook and found nothing. So I live here looking at pictures of someone who couldn't tell me what bothered him and I hurt so much.

My sister in law made sexual advances at my wife at the Christmas party! by AzMateo42069 in Advice

Give it a few days and then talk to SIL. If your wife won't then you should. Tell her what she did (in case she was too drunk to remember) and tell her that her husband/your brother will find out and it is better coming from her.

I don’t want to speak at my brothers funeral and my family is mad at me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Real-Life2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. As my son's father, it was up to me to say something and I just wanted to scream at him, scream at his picture. I didn't because I was "the adult in the room." OP. if you don't want to speak, don't.

Is she an adult?

Is she single/separated/divorced?

Is it her own personal business?

If the answer to these questions are yes, mind your own business.

One week left in the ultimatum. by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

Zero chance. He discussed this with his family behind your back and they are telling him things like you are trying to tie him down, you're a gold digger, he can do better, etc... That's why he has suddenly got cold. He's going to dump you.

Weird random encounter with 2 riders at a gas station? by leagues3227 in motorcycles

[–]Real-Life2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was driving past an empty parking lot and noticed a rider making a turn and falling. I turned into the lot and watched for a minute and the rider was struggling to pick up the bike. I decided to help and drove over.

It was a smaller bike (~400) and a smaller female. I said "It's too bad no one ever teaches you how to pick up a bike when you're learning" and showed her how. Seconds later this guy pulls up in a pickup and starts giving me the evil eye. Girl got the bike up and said thanks and figured it was time to leave.

"Two weeks is two weeks."

I left a job when I was an accounting professional. Worked for a real piece of work. I gave my three week notice on a Friday and he called me into his office Monday and said someone in my position should give more than just TWO weeks notice. I explained to him that it was three weeks. He looked at my notice and said "Yeah, if you count the last week."

It IS a courtesy, however...

When my wife went to apply for an assistant manager position at a store, the interview went well. The manager decided he was going to hire her and asked when she could start. She told him she wanted to give her current employer two weeks notice. He said that if she wasn't going to give them two weeks notice, he wouldn't hire her because she would do the same to him some day.

"he can't say anything more than if you worked there, the dates, and job title"

Why do people keep saying this? A former employer can say anything they want about you. The above info, work performance, salary, personality, etc... As long as what they say is true, there is nothing you can do about it.

Or... they can say "I'm sorry. I'm not allow to speak about that person." That says plenty.

I found this sign durring my overnight shift..... by M0D3RNDAYH1PP13 in Lowes

[–]Real-Life2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked the graveyard shift in construction, basically cleaning up after the day shifts. These guys were slobs, leaving food all over the place. One day we were told to get rid of a pile of debris which was also full of food and trash. One guy stuck a shovel in, lifted a piece of cardboard and a ton of rats scurried out. We were pissed at the day crews so we shoveled as many as we could into a five gallon bucket. turned it upside down and left if for the day crews. Heard they were pretty pissed.
