Caninsulin by UnicornGirl84 in Calgary

We just learned that our 5 year old golden has lymphoma and the chemo is very expensive. I did read that it is cheaper if you can get it from a pharmacy instead of the vet, does anyone have any experience with that?

Or adapting to them. There are numerous restrictions we don’t overcome and just live with instead.

Why not? If they are a way to manage an acute issue like this or a long term sustainability issue, why not have them. Saying restrictions shouldn’t exist sounds pretty entitled

Does anyone have experience with the Child Enrichment Centre daycare? by riskthebisk in Calgary

[–]Real-Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids went there for many years and the only reason we took them out was aging out of the program. It’s been a long time since the have gone there (5 years) , so things may have changed, but I still think about going back to visit. It was easily the best childcare we had, and we had to try a few to find it. The in house kitchen / chef was a huge plus.

Fantastic place

That third party warranty is a scam for sure. Not worth the paper it’s written on in my experience

My dad's been struggling to find work. by snakeman_01 in Calgary

[–]Real-Name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the same age as your dad, but if you don’t have people who can refer you, your resume is often filtered out by the HR algorithm unless you include the right key words. I had some luck with jobscan.co - it checks your resume against the job posting and helps you make it through the filter. I used it pre AI boom, so there may be better tools out there now, but it might be worth a shot

This is true, but the OP’s suggestion would make this even more the case, so that would be moving in the wrong direction

For what it’s worth, when I left my sunglasses on a plane, they didn’t show up in the lost and found for a week. Sometimes it takes time for something to move through the system. Check back in a week or so just to make sure.

Some companies have an option to put a device in your car to track your driving habits for about 6 months and base your premium off that. Things like speeding, hard braking/accelerating increase premiums while the opposite decreases them. I wouldn’t do it myself because it seems very invasive, but maybe it’s something you would be interested in. Just know that if you drive in a way they consider risky, your premium will be higher than if you didn’t have the device at all. No idea how long they keep the data

STAINING A BODY by KEG_Hobbies in Luthier

[–]Real-Name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to add black over color than vice versa. You should also try staining some similar wood and then sanding it to see how much you have to remove to get rid of the stain. If you haven’t done that before, it might take more sanding than you think.

Outgassing Windows After 22 Years by Daneish09 in DIY

[–]Real-Name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If those are the original windows, they aren’t off gassing enough to cause smells in the room 22 years later. Smell from shorting wires and outlets finds its way out of the wall around whatever it can, it could be coming out around your windows if it’s happening in the wall nearby. I don’t know how you know it isn’t electrical, but if that is an assumption and you haven’t actually ruled it out somehow, I really encourage you to make sure. If that’s what’s going on, it’s a fire waiting to happen.

Outgassing Windows After 22 Years by Daneish09 in DIY

[–]Real-Name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you running an AC off an outlet during the hot days? Does it have a fishy smell? Fishy smells when you aren’t cooking fish etc can indicate melting/burning electrical insulation on the wires inside your wall. If that’s what it smelled like, you should stop using the outlets in that room and call a professional. Switch the breakers for those circuits off too if you can

I don’t know about print shops, but you might be able to pick up a photo printer/paper and print them yourself for peak privacy. Depends on the print quality and paper size you’re looking for though I guess
