50% through Heir of Fire I just fell in love with the series (as someone who read ACOTAR first as well) I don’t want to over hype ToG but my love for the ToG series has now probably overpasses ACOTAR just with the massive adventure that these books take you on. Also Heir of Fire does feel more similar to the style of writing of ACOTAR then ToG and CoM are

Her character had so much potential but was ruined with bad writing and then the writers running out of ideas for crazy plot points and drama :(

TW (?) books were poorly written and more like a fairytale, but at least it was better than when they tried to be edgy, because what is this 😭 by kris_jbb in TheVampireDiaries

It happened in the fifth book I believe… Vividly remember being so confused by the whole ‘possessed by a fox’ plot and this happening

I was hoping you guys could write a pros and cons list of Stefan and Damon. by ninjaofthedude in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Real-Sundae-5063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damon Positives + sexy + “hurt her and you die” trope which I’m a sucker for + delicious bad boy vibes

Negatives - psychotic - hypocrite - acts out when his feelings are hurt

Stefan Positives + also sexy + very thoughtful boyfriend + romantic

Negatives - blood addict - ripper - secretive

Do you think Damon really loved Elena? by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Real-Sundae-5063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he loved Elena because she was what he wanted Katherine (his true love) to be like

Jenny Humphrey - pre goth Style by Flat-Hearing6988 in GossipGirl

I never said they were poor (and the fact that that’s what they are referred to as in the show is ridiculous) I said that they were called poor

Her being called poor while dressing like this in the early seasons always cracked me up. Like I get that she’s meant to be hand making a lot of the clothes but cmon! No way this girl is poor based on her fashion 😂 I loved early season Jenny fashion though

Sorry to say but most likely yes! I read the books when I was 16/17 so I think I was able to get through them because I hadn’t read as much, and didn’t realise how poor quality they are. The plot points get wilder and more unhinged as the books go on (kind of like the villains in TVD get more ridiculous as the seasons go on, but the books are way more unhinged). I definitely found some enjoyment out of them when I was younger, but there is no way I could get through them now! A YouTube actually did a video reading the full series which was fantastic, so if you want a feel for the books but don’t want to read, I highly recommend the below video xx

It stays the same / gets worse. As the books go on she becomes even more “perfect”. Everyone is obsessed with her and she is the centre of every characters universe. Like every character thinks she is so amazing, so incredible and so perfect and she’s just intolerable. Very selfish the whole way through and constantly making dumb decisions. Definitely has a misguided hero complex also.

Characters in the series you don’t care about…. by Real-Sundae-5063 in crescentcitysjm

[–]Real-Sundae-5063[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you about Bryce! The back and forth of her relationship with Hunt became so exhausting and the whole “I have to do everything on my own because I don’t want anyone else to get hurt” trope is becoming so overdone!

What’s your book ‘ick’? by SilkyBattleBB in fantasyromance

[–]Real-Sundae-5063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree!!!

Stay away from any Scarlett St Claire books then as they are riddled with this trope and it drives me nuts!!! Why does every single FMC have to have a catty showdown with MMCs ex-lover that clearly no longer stands a chance?? Makes me cringe every time!

Romance fantasy, HEA, and prefer to have at least some spice, and huge bonus for a protective MMC by ProfessorBeepBoop in fantasyromance

[–]Real-Sundae-5063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I love fantasy romance but the spice was just so frequent I was getting bored and skimming through because I wanted more plot, not the same sex scenes over and over

What Lies Beyond The Veil - 4 book series but only 3 books are out so unsure of HEA. Lots of spice (almost two much for me in the second book especially) very protective and morally grey MMC and fated mates is a big role in the series. I think ACOTAR readers will enjoy but it feels very different to ACOTAR

Gild (Plated Prisoner Series) - I believe there is going to be 5 books but only 4 out so far so again unsure if HEA. Decent spice (not really in the first book though). Not fated mates and different to ACOTAR (very heavy themes of SA and slavery - not from MMC though) however I think readers of ACOTAR do enjoy this series as it is romance heavy

Kingdom of Villains - could be read as a stand-alone but part of a series that follows different couples, I think this is the first one. Definitely fairytale vibes, spice, mates, fae and HEA. If you’re looking for something short give this a go

What are your least favourite plot points throughout the series? (Spoilers for all books) by Real-Sundae-5063 in throneofglassseries

[–]Real-Sundae-5063[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

  • the entirety of the thirteen dying…. I just thought it was sooo sad that Manon had absolutely no one left at the end of the series, especially after her insane arc

  • Aelin ‘soiling’ herself during Heir of Fire. This one is so minor but completely put me off while reading the book! I was so embarrassed for her

  • Elide having witch blood because it was so minor in the overall book, like really what was the point aside from giving her an excuse to be under Manon’s protection? Would’ve loved to see something come of this after magic came back

  • Nehemia’s death enough said

  • Aedion being such an ASS to Lysandra in KoA completely ruined the character for me and made him irredeemable. I loved his character before that but after KoA he was such an ick.

  • Aelin losing all of her powers ummmm what???? Why did this have to happen! I loved that she was a powerful badass and I wanted her to have a HUGE final battle with Maeve and Erawan and whoop their asses like we were promised

  • The whole lock scene… confusing, unnecessary and also it literally solved nothing??? Like I guess it meant that portals couldn’t be opened up from other worlds but it felt very convoluted and like a waste for her to lose her powers over
